- The infamous Son of Beast is know today for all the wrong reasons. Announced in May of 1999, Son of Beast was the follow up to the legendary Beast at Kings Island. The sequel would be constructed by the Roller Coaster Corporation of America, and would set a new record for Tallest, Fastest, and Longest Drop on a wooden roller coaster, and featuring a world's first Vertical Loop on a wooden coaster. Unfortunately, today the ride is remembered for it's short lived time in Mason, Ohio. From it's structural issues and construction disputes, the ride would only run for 5 and a half seasons before a cracked beam in the structure forced the ride to close. During the 06-07 off season, the 118 foot signature element Vertical Loop was removed, and the ride reopened in July of 2007 with the heavy Premier built trains being replaced with lighter Gerstlauer trains from the now defunct Hurricane at Myrtle Beach Pavilion. The new lease on life was short lived when in June of 2009 a woman reported severe head injuries while riding the troubled coaster. Son of Beast would remain closed from June of 2009 until July of 2012 when in was announced the ride would be removed for future developments.
"I'm not going on Son of Beast - it isn't safe"
Also notice how the cars are shaking as it traverses the course, just like the real thing
I want to get off Wooden Roller Coaster 4!
How is this smoother than the actual ride was 💀
I was thinking it's fitting that the intensity is over 10
Because in reality no one should babe gone on the ride either lol
Son of Beast was never as bumpy as the Vortex. Used to get headaches from how often my head would hit the sides of the safety harness.
Does it come with the headache and neck pain?
I’m not paying that much for aspirin from Souvenir Shop 1!
"Son of Beast looks too intense for me" 10.51 Ultra Extreme lol
Actually it is just Extreme
Wow, that's an extreme rollercoaster!
I regret ever riding this rickety neck hurting thing.
Also the recreation is pretty good work.
So you can follow the trains on main view now in openRCT, if you hold the red arrows, it provides a drop down menu "follow on main view"
RCCA’s coasters probably had all transitions like that
The excitement rating should be lower
Excitement ratings: low
Intensity Rating: very high
Nausea rating: high
It's already getting an excitement penalty for having intensity over 10.
ok i like this... where can i download it
How did you do this
Do you have a download for this? I would LOVE to play around with this recreation personally
But does it injure your guests?
King Cobra, outer limits flight of fear, face off, top gun would be nice to see
why didn't you use the 3 seater woody cars?
The 3 seater trains featured in Base RCT2 are PTC trains with Buzz Bars, they also do not feature head rests. SoB ran with 3 seaters built built by Premier Rides, that featured ratcheting restraints, seat rests, and were capable of handling inversions. Flight of Fear operates with the same restraint system. While they only sit 2, the Looping Coaster Trains are the closest I could get in game to fit my preference.
Long story short I'm a sucker for small details...
Time to change the trains. Nerf the speed and delete the loop
No passengers? Doesn't feel right without the cheers
Intensity's over 10. Guests wouldn't ride it without OpenRCT2's "ignore intensity" cheat.
Good job. Care to share its stats?
0:41 excitement 6.44, intensity 10.51, nausea 5.70
"Wooden Hyper Coaster 1 looks too intense for me!"
I’m not going on Wooden Roller Coaster 4. It isn’t safe
"What do you mean, too high for supports?" *enables cheats*
@@johnfoltz8183 Wooden Looping Coaster 1 has broken down
Can’t construct this here…
Too high for supports!
"Guest 343s head has exploded from intensity"
Always a pleasure seeing recreated coasters from my old home park.
Love the recreation of son of beast 😎🔥 i want to see a giga coaster recreation too
The only way this recreation could be improved would be with the new large sloped turns. Those would be especially useful in the rosebulll and final turnaround. Looks amazing as it is though
I remade this before the OpenRCT2 crew changed the save format, hopefully I can get around to remaking SoB again, but I have such limited time unfortunately :/
Wooden Roller Coaster 4 has broken down…
I think roller coaster tycoon was made because so that we can build what we like and want since parks around the world that are getting rid of their good classic coasters!
Rct for life! God bless you Chris Sawyer!
pretty close
I like how this is the reason the wooden coaster has the loop avaible and you need to cheat in a twister coaster track actually properly recreate it to scale
My dad rode that coaster back in the day. He got whiplashed as fuck from it.
“I want to go on something more exciting than Son Of Beast”
I’d this download?
King cobra
sounds painful.
This ride was awesome while it was still up and running. It’s a shame it was so poorly engineered.
Can I get the Download?
It’s a shame RMC wasn’t around at the time to make it more fun
RMC in its infancy wanted to refurbish SoB but Paramount was so cheap in its construction the coast was structurally unsound RCCA didn't actually finish building the ride. There was literally no feasible way to safely save the ride so it was demolished
@@Michael-sb8jf
Don't blame Paramount. RCCA had a really bad track record of overpromising, underbidding, underdelivering, and using temporary shell companies to avoid any potential legal issues.
Yeah the wood used for the supports wasn't high enough quality. The support structure is basically the only thing RMC keeps, so there's no way they'd be able to do anything with it.
@@metleon
The wood was a bit iffy but that wasn't the only factor. On high-G moments on a wooden coaster, you need to double your supports. RCCA was notorious for not doing that.
