How do I know when all the essential oil is out of the raw material. Does it take the same amount of time for every plant?

Last question, when I will do oils such as pine or cedar, will they not leave residue on the inside of the equipment, so that later on if I do lavender or mint, will it not be contaminated with the previous oil?

Made a distillation of sage with sage cut 2 evenings ago and I cut fresh lavender after lunch today and distilled right after. Yield of sage hydrosol was 3 oz and no e.o., then 5.5 oz of lavender hydrosol and 2 drops of e.o. Takes a lot more fresh plant material than I thought. House smells very nice. Not bad for my first production. How can I avoid getting a little bit of water in the pipette as I exttract the e.o.??

Can this be used to distill alcohol as well, or only essential oils?

When you use fire (burning propane) to heat the water, it won't be too hot for the copper?

I'm trying to find a water pump - does it really need to pump 2000L an hour? That seems massive compared to most aquarium pumps. What is the smallest pump size you recommend using?

I see you put dry herbs, but I guess fresh herbs are ok to use?

What is the purpose of the pump and do I need a pump? I tried using the steam distillation but all that came out was water everywhere!! I just have the water hose into the sink!!
