New shitpost on TW:W2. I filmed and cut this around a year ago and it had been sitting on my hard-drive unfinished ever since, so I decided to get it out before the hard work would begin for SCP: Overlord. Some notes, for those interested: -I have massive issues w/ the total war camera and replay system. You can't adjust the focal length without locking the camera off, and any movement you use has no mouse smoothing unless you attach your camera to a unit (using the insert key). This makes it extremely difficult to get anything to appear cinematic in this game. -There's no rewind button, so filming shit takes forever. -I filmed this before I knew about reshade depth of field, and would have used it in a heartbeat if I'd known at the time. -This was also filmed before I heard about some performance tweaks you can use to reduce the terrible animation degradation that plagues a few shots in this. -This is a on a custom map I built for this video, and I'm not sure if I still have it. -Sound on this took about 3 days, but I was also dealing with technical issues on my pc, so I wasn't working at full capacity. -Sourcing SFX for this was difficult, as I needed to find new explosion sfx, and tons of things I wanted just didn't exist, like cannon balls impacting with groups, so I had to get clever and combine a lot of stuff.
Good God, this is amazing. Amazing work Evan! Also a +1 to all of your criticisms and issues. The lack of a real replay system makes covering any non-live footage an absolute chore.
I feel like this is smartass response, and I know you stated it was a year ago, but there is the better camera mod which fixes a lot of issues you laid out. I'd love to see another Warhammer short, perhaps with some voice acting. This felt a bit odd without shouted orders or battle cries. Still, really cool and glad you took the time to finish it.

I'm fairly convinced that GW forcibly retconned the setting because there was no way any future Chaos invasion would be remotely plausible to succeed. Once we get past the flintlock era, which is just starting in the Empire, and into percussion caps and cartridge rifles, then there's no way in Hell that Chaos--which has NEVER shown any affinity for the gun--would stand a chance. Just imagine a regiment of Imperial Needle Gunners ripping three-rank fire off into a charging Chaos horde. They're all armed with melee weapons only, it'd be an absolute slaughter.
