    California. Awesome drill. I've always had a flying right elbow to some extent. I can keep the elbow down via this drill but it feels like I'll never have enough power. Need to stick with it and do 100 practice swings/drills per night to get it grooved.

      That's awesome, Mark. I'm glad you enjoyed it. You're exactly right. At least 100 reps a day and you'll have it in no time.

    I started playing golf 30 years ago. After watching your video, NOW I know I have a flying right elbow and it's flying all over the place 😮!

      Thanks for the comment Michael. That’s awesome you’ve been playing golf that long. It’s a great game. Yeah the flying right elbow is very common but can be tricky to fix. Hopefully this video helps you out ⛳️

    Mobile, Alabama on the coast. I’ve heard this information presented in a number of different ways but this the first time I’ve actually understood what this was all about. Went to the range and wow!
    I’ve never externally rotated my right shoulder in 30 years of trying to play golf. This made a massive difference in strike.
    Thank you.

      That’s so cool that’s where I lived for 9 years whilst playing golf for University of South Alabama. Lived on William and Mary St and played and practice at Azalea City and Magnolia Grove. Such a small world.
      Also that is amazing you hit the ball so well after doing this. Really happy to hear that 🙌

      @@dlgolftips took the tip to Azalea City this morning for a bucket, yep, externally rotating the shoulder on the take away was the piece I've been missing! straight and true, driver added probably 30-40 yards. So simple it's scary.
      Glad I happened upon you. Told a few folks at AC about your channel and connection to Jag Golf. Going to make it my personal mision to get you 100 more subscribers!

      My wife says you’re a genius. She said she’s never seen me hit the ball like that. In a 20 mile an hour wind no less.

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s absolutely awesome. So cool she noticed the improvement 👌 really good. And thank you, I still know quite a few at Azalea and some might remember me even though I’ve been away for 10-12 years. Used to love playing there it’s such a great course and living near the back of the second green was like heaven lol.

    David, good presentation, and totally agree on internal shoulder rotation.! I realize this is a drill and not exactly a representation of a swing. I'm concerned about the lack of width at the top. I strive for my right humerus to be 90 degrees to my spine angle and my forearm to be between 70 -90 degrees to my humerus. All of this is in pursuit of width. Once again, good lesson.

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Lee thanks for comment. Yes indeed all good stuff. Definitely a fan of good with at the top while not letting the right shoulder go to internal at the top. Rory had around 69 degrees of bending right are at the top of the backswing, which is incredible actually. I have a video coming on this. Also for width check out my don’t keep the left are straight video I talk a lot about width in this one by fighting to keep the right arm straight 👌

    Hi David. New to your channel but the tips / feelings are easy to understand. Looking forward on browsing the other vids.
    Tough mid HCP, i struggle with the effortless feeling. My swing feels like hard work.
    Can you make a serie of vids how to build your swing from scratch. Grip, stance, address, take away, top of backswing (love this vid), start downswing, falling in to the slot, impact, release, follow trough, ..
    You get the point :)
    Looking forward to this.

    Another great drill David. Will try it on the range tomorrow. I know it’s something I need to work on. How long do you try to hold on to the external rotation of the right shoulder. Does it release naturally on the down swing.

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey William, thanks so much for the comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. Let me know how it goes. In terms of releasing that right arm, it should kind of happen naturally. If you think about skimming a stone or throwing a ball sidearm, have a think about where that elbow or that shoulder would be releasing. That should help give you a good idea.

      It worked fine as far as I can tell now. In my videos I could clearly see the right elbow does not move too much behind anymore! The strike quality was also good in most cases. Will keep this now in all my practicing sessions for the next weeks / months. Maybe after some months I can do it with a fluent swing (without stop and then go). That is gonna be my ultimate goal now.

    I agree that shoulder external rotated means lesser tendency to come over the top. Great drill.

      Definitely 👍 if the shoulder get internally rotated at the top it’s going to come over the top. Such a common thing to see

    Dave, I played with a former college golfer not long ago, and he had torn his rotator cuff of his right shoulder years ago. This is how he would hit every shot to protect his shoulder. Needless to say, he beat my ass by 10 strokes in three straight rounds.

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s interesting, there are definitely ways to play with injuries. Just have to find your way around them. That’s good this guy was still able to play after that not so good he beat you though 🙈 lol
