    Very simple explanation of a compressed strike.
    My low point has been all over the place this season, did a TH-cam trawl and this video is the one I’m going to use to regain ball/turf.
    Sincere thanks.

      Just back from the range, only used short game area but… big difference doing mini swing from p6 with forearm externally rotated and rotating through with straight arms… nice ball/turf when I let arms and hands be passive… armsy or wrists on these mini swings… nope.. club dumps early 😀

    good video, will reducing the spin loft on irons reduce the descent landing angle and spin as I play in area with harder greens so trying to reduce roll out

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All else being equal, yes, but sometimes creating more compression on the ball in this way can make the ball shoot out lower but have a little more spin so that it will rise and land soft. Even though you play on hard greens it can seem tempting to want the ball to come in very high but provided it's done in the right way and not a high shot with low spin otherwise it won't stop. A thing I like to do to create more height in this swing if that's what you need is feel a little bit more wrist hinge throughout the backswing and try and get your finish position with your hands as high as you can. This tends to make the ball come out a lot higher.

  • @garybarnes3013
    @garybarnes3013 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Does this same technique work with mid to high loft hybrids? I’m 76 and gave up irons except 9 and higher. If I have an uphill lie, my hybrid strikes feel great due to compression /squeezing the ball. I need a drill to compress on level lie.

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Gary thanks so much for your comment. It’s exactly the same with hybrids and the same for anytime the ball is on the ground. Quite a good way to learn this is to try and compress it off a downhill lie as that is the hardest and that will transfer over to the level/flat lie. Any questions let me know ⛳️

    Great video. I am an ok golfer, 10 hcp, but I do ALL of the things you explain in the beginning. I have attempted to make changes, but when I get to the range, I can’t seem to open my hips enough to allow club to clear the ground cleanly and I keep hitting the turf hard….usually behind the ball. Any thoughts on what I might do to stop this? Or do I just need to keep at it and sacrifice my elbow and wrist to golf gods? Basically, I know what I SHOULD do, but I can’t seem to make it work.
    I am also hesitant to take my game backwards as I am playing solidly for the most part. But I hate my early release, standing up, chicken wing swing….

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey thanks so much for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video. All of the issues you mention are typically a reaction and a by product of the Clubface being open in the golf swing. When this face is open this is typically how the body compensates. I would check the left hand grip to start with make sure it’s enough in the fingers and not the palm. Then get to work on checking it to see if it’s open at different parts in the swing. Then potentially work on each segment separately after that. I do have more videos on my channel covering theses issues and more to come soon.

    on the drill, is there a feel to start the turning of the face toward the ball. do you feel like wrists turn towards the ball? is it left shoulder pulling back? do you hold the right wrist angle through impact? basically what feel get? Thx

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From what you described, a feel that I really like is using the lead wrist and feel like as your arm is coming down into impact that you're turning and loosening a screw with your left hand. This would close the face. Very nice feeling to get that club face squared up in the downswing.

    • @dlgolftips

      Hey Stephen thanks for the comment. Yes still both extended but the difference being we don’t contact the ground and the body stays more behind the golf ball.

    I have titelist t400 irons they say it’s delofted so what does it mean I don’t need to take the club to take it forward ?

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the T400 are stronger lofts but you would still want have the hands slightly ahead at address and impact as it's all about helping the ball contact. The technology in the T400 is built to get it launching high even with the lower loft

    • @dlgolftips

  • @markme3259
    @markme3259 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    …I haven’t used an iron in 20 years…my sets are all hybrids…so much easier to sweep , than constantly struggle with attaining the complexity of dynamic loft to time the compression…because , except the driver, it’s never about distance, but club selection…

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  ปีที่แล้ว

      100% that’s great. I teach a few people with a full set of hybrids and they can work really well for more of a swinger than a hitter. That’s cool you have such great success with them 👍⛳️

    • @markme3259
      @markme3259 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate that 🙏 I guess we didn’t know as much about the golf swing then as we do now. I remember my first lesson around 25 years ago and instruction and knowledge about the golf swing has changed. Who knows maybe time to dust the irons off and see how they behave. If nothing else it will confirm the hybrids for you, could be a little fun too 😄

    Great video, I've just recently taken golf back up after a long long spell off the greens. I cannot for the life of me transfer my weight in the correct way and I really struggle with ball first, turf after, it doesn't matter how many instructional videos I watch. Can you offer any pointers that may help me strike ball first then turf? Many thanks and I looking forward to hopefully hearing from you.🏌⛳️

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Stephen welcome back to the game. Stick at it ⛳️ I have a couple of videos that I did in my IMPROVE YOUR GOLF playlist. But I do have a downswing sequence drill coming in a couple of days that will really help you out with this. Striking ball then turf is without doubt one of the most important things in golf. The drill is this video should help plus my other ones and new one coming soon. I’d love it to help you ⛳️
