  • Tired of not being able to compress the golf ball? Struggling with Early release in the downswing causing fat and thin golf shots, then this video is for you
    Welcome to my golf instruction channel David Leathem Golf, your ultimate resource for mastering the art of the golf swing. In today's comprehensive golf video, we're delving deep into a subject that's of paramount importance to golfers of all levels: compressing the golf ball with your irons. If you've been struggling with poor contact in your iron play, resulting in frustrating fat shots, thin strikes, or that high, weak ball flight, this video is tailor-made for you. Im here to unveil the mysteries behind why you might not be able to compress the golf ball like the pros and, more importantly, equip you with actionable insights to improve your iron play.
    ⛳️ *The Golf Downswing Decoded:* At the heart of your struggles lies the golf downswing. In this video, we will meticulously break down the intricate dynamics of the golf downswing, a phase where golfers can significantly enhance their golf game. We will unravel the vital elements that distinguish professional golfers from amateur golfers, offering you an invaluable insight into the mechanics behind a perfect golf swing.
    🤔 *Early Release or Casting Golf Swing:* Have you ever wondered why you experience an early release during the golf downswing sequence, leading to those bothersome thin strikes and the feeble ball flights that defy your intentions? I’ll dissect this issue, provide clarity on why it happens, and, most importantly, furnish you with actionable Golf techniques to maintain your lag in the downswing and release it at impact, thereby preventing the dreaded "chicken wing" follow-through.
    🌀 *Demystifying Spin Loft:* To compress the golf ball like a pro, you need to understand the concept of spin loft. It's a phrase that might sound perplexing, but I’m here to make it simple. Learn how altering spin loft can significantly affect your ball flight, leading to longer, more penetrating shots. We'll not only explain it but provide you with golf drills to use it to your advantage out on the golf course.
    ✨ *Effective Golf Drills for Better Compression:* A highlight of this video is a set of engaging and easy-to-follow golf drills designed to improve your ability to compress the golf ball. Golf Downswing right elbow and right wrist, you'll experience a significant boost in how far your golf ball travels and the consistency of your shot distances. This golf drill is a game-changer for golfers of all levels.
    🎯 *Mastering Impact Dynamics:* Comprehending the dynamics of impact is pivotal to achieving improved iron contact. We'll delve into the concept of dynamic loft and the ideal attack angle required to strike the golf ball effectively with your irons. Understanding these elements will lead to more precise and consistent iron play.
    This video is a comprehensive guide that caters to a diverse audience, whether you're a beginner golf eager to rectify your poor contact or an experienced golfer aiming to elevate your iron play to professional standards. Don't allow poor contact to limit your potential; it's time to unlock the secrets of golf ball compression and watch your game soar to new heights.

    Great explanation. I have to watch many videos to compare to get a complete better understanding. This was done well, look foward to trying it out. Just a little friendly feedback, a little paint on the walls will go a long way to build your subscber following :). I live in United States, NJ

      Hey thanks so much for the comment. Really glad you enjoyed it, let me know how it goes👍 100% so funny you said that, in my recent video about Rory I actually asked about what to do with the walls. I know they don’t look great. I’m swaying towards paint and maybe my logo on the wall and some golf course pictures. Thanks for the feedback 🙏

    Great video. I am an ok golfer, 10 hcp, but I do ALL of the things you explain in the beginning. I have attempted to make changes, but when I get to the range, I can’t seem to open my hips enough to allow club to clear the ground cleanly and I keep hitting the turf hard….usually behind the ball. Any thoughts on what I might do to stop this? Or do I just need to keep at it and sacrifice my elbow and wrist to golf gods? Basically, I know what I SHOULD do, but I can’t seem to make it work.
    I am also hesitant to take my game backwards as I am playing solidly for the most part. But I hate my early release, standing up, chicken wing swing….

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey thanks so much for the comment and glad you enjoyed the video. All of the issues you mention are typically a reaction and a by product of the Clubface being open in the golf swing. When this face is open this is typically how the body compensates. I would check the left hand grip to start with make sure it’s enough in the fingers and not the palm. Then get to work on checking it to see if it’s open at different parts in the swing. Then potentially work on each segment separately after that. I do have more videos on my channel covering theses issues and more to come soon.

    Does this same technique work with mid to high loft hybrids? I’m 76 and gave up irons except 9 and higher. If I have an uphill lie, my hybrid strikes feel great due to compression /squeezing the ball. I need a drill to compress on level lie.

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Gary thanks so much for your comment. It’s exactly the same with hybrids and the same for anytime the ball is on the ground. Quite a good way to learn this is to try and compress it off a downhill lie as that is the hardest and that will transfer over to the level/flat lie. Any questions let me know ⛳️

    DL- in the driver downswing,are the arms still extended

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Stephen thanks for the comment. Yes still both extended but the difference being we don’t contact the ground and the body stays more behind the golf ball.

    I have titelist t400 irons they say it’s delofted so what does it mean I don’t need to take the club to take it forward ?

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes the T400 are stronger lofts but you would still want have the hands slightly ahead at address and impact as it's all about helping the ball contact. The technology in the T400 is built to get it launching high even with the lower loft

  • @markme3259
    @markme3259 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    …I haven’t used an iron in 20 years…my sets are all hybrids…so much easier to sweep , than constantly struggle with attaining the complexity of dynamic loft to time the compression…because , except the driver, it’s never about distance, but club selection…

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100% that’s great. I teach a few people with a full set of hybrids and they can work really well for more of a swinger than a hitter. That’s cool you have such great success with them 👍⛳️

    • @markme3259
      @markme3259 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dlgolftips …I would have been able to hit irons had I seen your video 30 years ago..

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Appreciate that 🙏 I guess we didn’t know as much about the golf swing then as we do now. I remember my first lesson around 25 years ago and instruction and knowledge about the golf swing has changed. Who knows maybe time to dust the irons off and see how they behave. If nothing else it will confirm the hybrids for you, could be a little fun too 😄

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great video, I've just recently taken golf back up after a long long spell off the greens. I cannot for the life of me transfer my weight in the correct way and I really struggle with ball first, turf after, it doesn't matter how many instructional videos I watch. Can you offer any pointers that may help me strike ball first then turf? Many thanks and I looking forward to hopefully hearing from you.🏌⛳️

    • @dlgolftips
      @dlgolftips  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Stephen welcome back to the game. Stick at it ⛳️ I have a couple of videos that I did in my IMPROVE YOUR GOLF playlist. But I do have a downswing sequence drill coming in a couple of days that will really help you out with this. Striking ball then turf is without doubt one of the most important things in golf. The drill is this video should help plus my other ones and new one coming soon. I’d love it to help you ⛳️
