If I remember the video correctly, he stopped using it for a long time, and when he next tried to use it it wouldn't open. So I think somehow not opening the cup for ages got it stuck
I imagine it was a combination of vacuum pressure and a little residual moisture from whatever was last in it creating a seal. Even water can be crazy strong under the right circumstances.

I'm aware that it's an extremely online thing, and there's not much utility in being combatitive about it, but himbo by definition is 'big + kind + dumb' and I feel like many people are too hasty to discredit Mark's intelligence to more easily group him under what is a purely memetic label (though were I to assign him such a label, he would obviously be a hunk).
