I’ve actually modified my HEI distributor and it is now a 2 wire distributor and I do have spark control. It only takes a couple of parts that were available from Summit. This saved me money by not having to buy a new 2 wire distributor.
It’s also possible to use a “flying magnet” style crank sensor (MSD offers kits & parts) and connect that signal to the 2-wire molex connector on the FiTech TBI system. Then you just make sure the distributor rotor is pointing at correct position on distributor cap. Timing fine tuning is done by moving the crank sensor accordingly.
The computer controlled hei distributors (ie 350 tbi engines) have a 2 wire pickup, I simply deleted the module and tied directly to the pickup wires inside the cap and viola fitech ready distributor, with phased rotor factory since it’s already computer controlled
I tried them all, a r2r with a dedicated tach output works fine, if it doesn't have that stay away. I used a proper coil negative for tach signal and it acted crazy.

Thank you - I have been trying to find an explanation for distributors with Fitech.
what distributor would you recommend for a ford FE engine?
I have msd billet version
Is the 30064 compatible with the MSD 2380?
How about MSD Three wire system?
what about a "dual sync" style?
No mention of a ready to run non hei billet distributor

The second distributor he picked up looks like a billet non hei VR unit?
Perfect!
And factory TBI system not just tpi
