Outstanding advice! I use my tractors nearly daily. I recently bought 2 new tractors to replace my old tractors which were 32 and 35 years old. The dealer sold my trade-ins within a few days. Both tractors were ready to use and had much useful life left. Taking good care of equipment is a good investment in the future.
You're right about Covid impacting availability Neil, a few weeks ago I was shopping for a tractor and two nearby Kubota dealers didn't have anything I could use in the compact tractor category. They could order one for me but it would take awhile to get it, and no backhoe for 2-3 months. Kioti dealer 15 min from my house only had 2 tractors on the lot, one was too big & one was too small. Branson dealer 2 hrs away had what I wanted (at least their online inventory said they had it) but didn't return my call. New Holland dealer likewise didn't have what I wanted. A mile down the road from the NH dealer was an LS dealer, who had exactly what I needed AND a backhoe on the lot. Needless to say I bought blue, but your videos are a tremendous help to all tractor owners and we appreciate you doing them. Covid be damned, please keep the great content coming!👍
Color doesn't matter as long as it does what you need it to do honestly, the maintenance and service is more important in today's equipment than what brand/color you buy. A friend of mine has a Mahindra 26HP compact tractor, does what they need it to do, they only wish now they would have bought the next size larger model LOL.

Going to be receiving my new tractor soon and was thinking of making a preflight checklist and attaching it to the tractor itself, mostly for dad, as he can destroy an anvil with a feather. Hmm, probably would be a great routine to get into. I'm just taking delivery of my first tractor tomorrow, so I want to get into the right routines and the right service & maintenance mindset from the beginning. Yeah I keep the oil/filter and air filter changed on my lawn equipment and vehicles but an actual tractor with implements and a loader is new to me.

Thank you. I just went over the ten hour grease the front axle with a machinist mate in the navy and his concern was it attracting dirt? I wiped it off after greasing.
My grills, intake filter,, oil and coolant is checked before and after operation. Other fluids are checked every couple months. Pump of grease is done after operation. MAHINDRA tractors like to burn a little coolant and their intake loves to collect. Great tractors overall. I've found bird, mice, wasps you name it. Weather it sits for a day or a month, it can happen overnight.
I prefer a hand grease gun over an electric unit. People tend to over-grease a machine with an electric because you can't "feel" when the grease cavity is full. And yes, in my opinion, you can over-grease a machine.
AFter I use my tractor I always use a leaf blower to blow dust and dirt off of the tractor. Lifting the hood while utilizing leaf blower works great too.
My most recent order from Messicks included 2 tubes of polyurea grease. This will be my first greasing of my L2501 (10 hour mark). My question is, is that the best grease to use? So much conflicting information about grease floating around. I prefer to put one tube of grease in my gun, and grease all 23 fittings on the L2501 with it. Thanks for all of your informative videos. I saw painted O rings on my loader pistons today. It made me remember a past video of yours that mentioned those, and that it's not something to worry about. I would have otherwise. Ha!
I use 2 guns. One with quality multi lith for spindles, pto u-joints, hi-speed critical areas. Just paid $29 bux for a case(10) of DA red multi lith. And the second gun for loader n bucket pins, heavy load, low speed locations. (cheap grease) pins get cheap stuff more frequently. Good all around 👍
When is it best to grease loader/ mower. At end of day/ interval while pins and bearings are warm to loosen fresh grease when it enters as machine cools down or when everything is cold before starting?
Sweet! How did I miss that. And I see a pulling comparison in the big L series between hydrostatic and manual. Do you think it would be the same in the b series? Also, is the hydraulic pump in the 2401 the same as the 2601? Or the 2650?
@@MessicksEquip makes sense. On another note. You have a great video on the front hole auger. And have mentioned how difficult 3pt hole augers are... but why? Besides installation difficulty, can't you just add static weights for down force? Can we see you struggle with one?

We lost oil from poor fuel injectors, with two fail injectors over time 5 litres disappear n dad fail keep checking before operating the tractor. The tractor had 5000hrs on it. I say check oil, coolant level, hydraulic level, window washer level (by law here in Australia you must have fluid in washer), lights/safety signs/fire extinguisher all by laws n tyre pressure with all this information recorded for OH&S laws.

Modern 4x4 tractors will climb over anything in their path, with life-threatening consequences. Neil is right when he said rollovers are much more common than you think.
I don't, but I know I should. And I mostly operate on the flat. Current tractor seat belt is a mess. New tractor coming soon, will have a nice new seat belt. Planning to start wearing it then, but that may be wishful thinking. Clear rule is that if you plan to ride the tractor down when it rolls, you must wear the seat belt. If you don't wear the seat belt, then your plan must be to jump off, on the uphill side, if it goes. At least, if you plan to live that is.
That is what you need to do when you buy kubota i own a 2003 belarus 5390 and a 1990 zetor 5245 neither use oil one got 7500 hours and 6000 use them daily on the farm the new kubota are geting worse by the day i will keep my old tractors and go right to work
depends what your buying? Parts and most attachments can go about anywhere. Serial numbered equipment, tractors, etc need to stay within a few hours so we can provide appropriate support.
Hey Neil: I really get a lot from your videos and have a request. I just purchased a new MX6000HST tractor with a loader. I have seen your video on smaller tractors removing the loader but not on the L or now the MX. Could you possibly do one in detail. This is my third kubota tractor starting with the L2800HST to a L4400hst and now my MX6000HST. I have never removed it but would like that option. Keep up the good work. Roy from Maryland
I could tell you right now if you park your tractor anywhere you may have mice you might want to cover your exhaust pipe started my l3301 one morning blew out one huge Mouse nest and the tractor only sat a couple days
@@coltonpoulter7936 Checking front axle levels requires a wrench to open it up. And it's supposed to weep out if I remember correctly - if I do that often enough it'll stop weeping out, and I'll have to fill it again.

An easy way to remember if you need to grease, is to do it when putting fuel in. If you need to put in fuel to do the job, you need to grease.

Good advice, My B2650 developed a oil pan leak at 87 hours.. It will need to go in to have the oil pan seal replaced.

You can over grease a product. By over greasing you can blow out some seals.

I do it after, push dirt out, and to keep said dirt/ rain out.

I think it takes me longer fiddling with the grease gun than it does for me to actually grease the tractor.
HAHA, yep, seems like every time I need to grease something the grease gun inevitably needs a new tube of grease put in it.
Always check for turtles and egg bound hens under your tractors too!

@@emftestblock planning to do a pull test, with covid shortages I've not had the right ones in stock. Its the same tractor as the B2601.

Any loader that's not 'swift-tach' is removed the same way. Same steps at this one.

Drain the water from the fuel/water separator regularly. Modern diesel engines have ZERO tolerance for water in the fuel system.
Why not talk about Massey Ferguson units?
You should probably grease everyday. After use.
