If you're a small dealer watching this, a great idea would be to wait 30 days, and make a call on the customer to "re-deliver" the machine. You'll build loyalty, and probably get customers asking for quotes on attachments, referral business etc.

Neal great video. As someone who has worked on farm equipment for 45 years and started in the dealership as the PTI person. I find it unbelievable that we make excuses for technicians not doing their job. If I would have sent equipment out the way it is being sent out today I wouldn't have been terminated immediately. To tell a customer that he needs to recheck his fluids is unacceptable. It is good that a customer gets to know his tractor true. But when a customer has to add gallons of hydraulic oil and quarts of fluid to the front axle this is just unacceptable.

Check everywhere for damage also. My L2501 was delivered with a crushed hydraulic filter, dented hydraulic line, and a bent brake arm. Obvious truck unloading damage. I ended up with a different new tractor.

With liquid filled tires you can have liquid in the stem even if the liquid level is lower than the stem when you're checking. Give it a shot of air first to clear the stem before checking the pressure so you don't get that liquid in your gauge.

Don't wipe the grease off the zerk/grease fittings when you grease them. Wipe the grease off with a rag before you grease it again, so you do take a chance of pushing containments into your fittings.

Great points. Just took delivery of my BX2680 a couple days ago. As soon as the salesman packed up and left I was out with the torque wrench checking bolts....glad I did a few of the lug nuts on the back wheels were not tight/torqued properly. Also found a small hydraulic leak which took a while to figure out where it was leaking, but was an easy turn of a wrench to fix. Stopped by the dealership today and picked up extra fluids to keep things topped off. Waiting on my 60" mower deck and pallet forks, hopefully I get them soon to get the delivery stuff out of the way. Done a bit of tilling and box scraper work already, and some loader work very impressed with what this tractor can do.

Hi, I was just wondering if You had a checklist form for your customers to keep in a maintenance folder? It would be handy to have a list to check things off as you go through inspecting a newly delivered tractor or just inspect your tractor.

Another great video Neil , I got one question, I just completed the 50 service on my L4701, I breezed thru the oil and filter change and I birddog the machine with a grease gun. However when it came time to change both hydraulic filters (HST) I could not get them loose, I destroyed a standard oil filter wrench and ended up buying the huge oil filter wrench Kubota has, and I was still barely able to break them free finally, question, can I expect a whoopin every time I gotta change these filters or is it just an issue with some new tractors? ??

Not all grease fittings are for something that moves all the time. We had a combine and there was a grease fitting that was actually used to make an adjust sort of like a mini-hydraulic Ram. Over pumping that fitting was a bad thing. Pay attention to fluid levels in relation to the temperature, most have a check when hot or check when cold spot, dip stick or sight glass.

Great video Neil!!! I have a question being new to Kubota and the tractor world. How do you identify the model year of a Kubota tractor? When purchasing a new Kubota BX1880 other than the dealer writing the model year on the receipt (or if they don't) how can you tell what year it is? Is it available through the VIN or serial number? Is it written somewhere on the tractor on a label?

@@MessicksEquip The hydro-transaxle in my lawn tractor is really noisy when its cold, the noise seems to dissipate as the machine warms up, even more of a pronounced whining noise in the winter...the trouble is there's no way to let it warm up without sitting on the tractor due to all the safety stuff on them, you can't just release the parking brake and let the machine sit in neutral and let fluid circulate a while and warm up a bit, is there a way to do this on a regular sub-compact tractor? I wouldn't think jumping on a tractor and just driving off when its cold both engine and hydraulic/transmission system would be a good idea?

Fuel Tank water separator - My brand new TLB from another vendor evidently sat on the lot from November until coming to me in May. The fuel tank was left mostly empty. Lots of water condensation and algae growth. The dealer's solution was to come out after the machine stopped from water and goo in the separator and drain/wipe out the tank. Now I have old algae bits filling up the new separator all the time. I will eventually have to have the tank drained and washed. Big pain for something that can be prevented by the dealer during storage or corrected before shipping to the customer. Also - have your dealer show you (actually demonstrate) how to bleed your fuel system after changing the separator or a filter. Mine requires pressurizing the fuel tank with compressed air as the fuel pump isn't strong enough. This is despite the user's guide saying 'just turn it over a couple of times.'

Hi Michael, What model TLB did you get? Who is your dealer? I got a 3CX Compact at the beginning of the year from Stephenson Equipment in Harrisburg, Pa. Its an awesome machine and the dealer has been a pleasure to work with. Hopefully your dealer resolves you issues as they should. As you can read all over TH-cam your dealer is a very important part of owning a tractor.

JC-Botaman I purchased a 3CX Compact as well. It is a very strong machine for its size. I was sad that the Kubota M62 wasn’t really in the same class, even though Kubota calls it out as the comparison model to the M62. I use it for excavating, construction and timber handling. My existing dealer is fine. Messick’s was great. I may end up back with them some time.
