Lucky for your family that you could. I know several heartbreaking stories of Families who could not. Parts of my family did escape dictatorship and some did not. Actually many did not. The violence and the spreading of hatred that took place before was quite unimaginable for todays people in the western world. Thank God people like this young lady speak up on what they have lived through. In socialist regimes, human beings are considered cattle or material. Nothing more.

My family & I also had to escape Indonesia in 1999 because of the fear of female family members being raped due to being double minority, because at some point people started to take advantage of the government chaos started in 98 and turned it into racial unrest/riots in other islands around Indonesia. And many people still deny/don't know that riots targeting certain race and religion around the country did happen😢
Even hearing her story from her own mouth, I cannot begin to understand how terrifying it must have been and how it didn't break her. I feel sorry for the people of NK who do not have the means to escape that child-man megalomaniac. They could take him out if they knew how weak and outnumbered he really is. 18:32 I love her for saying it. So brave.
I think it could have given her some kinda lingering trauma at least. My family & I also had to escape Indonesia in 1999 because of the fear of female family members being raped due to being double minority, because at some point people started to take advantage of the government chaos started in 98 and turned it into racial unrest/riots in other islands around Indonesia. I was a tween, it didn't break me. But it sure has left some trauma like I'd get antsy whenever I heard certain noises like street parade or motorcade closing in from a distance. And like for many years i really don't like to be near demonstrations, fear of being in a spotlight/known😅or when i heard the news mentioning certain things i get this crazy flight response etc. And many people still deny/don't know that riots targeting certain race and religion around the country did happen😢
Terrific interview. Kudos to that young lady for what she and her family had to go through for freedom. All free people should see this and realize what they have.
Wow. I cried listening to her story. This was really moving. I'm glad they are safe and thank those that saved them. Thank you to South Korea and Thailand authorities that also did the right thing and got these people to freedom. 😀
The part where she mentions if you don't know the broker well enough, you could be scammed into being sold to a lonely middle aged man in China as a wife is scary. They literally could kill you, torture you with the only positive outcome being married to a man you don't want to be married with and him treating you normally (Which is not much in China). But just the negatives are overwhelming. Imagine being a parent and you pay a broker to get your daughter out for freedom, sacrificing your family line and for her to end up as a sex slave and getting pregnant from a random old man. I know men in China treat their women like actual objects but imagine an actual slave. I can't even imagine the horrors they have to go through
its worse than in other parts of the world, way worse than in europe, and around 25% worse than in the usa, but china is not what you describe it for anymore, your picture would fit 1980 china. those that buy those trafficked nk women are exactly like you described men in general in china, but you fail to realize that they need to buy a wife because of obvious behavioural challenges to get one normally.
I was just telling someone who asked me if I was from South Korea or North Korea. I told him just to assume South Korea next time Simply because of how difficult it is to escape. Communism and socialism’s corruption and totalitarianism can be worse than even autocracies. Even with its corruptions, democracy still gives power to the voice of the people. My heart breaks for her suffering and my spirit grows from her strength.
Thank you for bringing us the story of this brave North Korean! It's so interesting! Best wishes to the young lady featured! (P.s. I really like how you added sound to enhance the story).

My family escaped Czarist Russia during the 1905 protests and riots. The exit officials stole everything not being worn. They took everything else, family pictures too (the latter only due to bribes). Exit visa fees and bribes on that end wiped out my great grandparents.
The recent riots in the US (from 2020) actually reminded me of when My family & I also had to escape Indonesia in 1999 because of the fear of female family members being raped due to being double minority, because at some point people started to take advantage of the government chaos started in 98 and turned it into racial unrest/riots in other islands around Indonesia. Incredible storý. What a wonderful and remarkable girl. This is the kind of migrant that would enhance any country lucky enough to get her. Good luck girl, freedom is priceless!
There's a section in here which offers a glimmer of hope. It's where she says two things. First, that people talk more frankly when no one else is around. Second, what she says at 18:33 That tells me that truly people aren't really brainwashed there. They know that things are fucked up, just moreso they can't say anything about it. But they aren't all zombies there that are brainwashed; they all really hate the guy.
So i watched the whole video and its so sad, the reality of countries like north korea is insane. How did karl marx's ideas give birth to such distopia?

North Korea didn't suddenly become like it is today. It was a series of bad decision. Somebody allowed the first asshole into power. That's why voting is important. Even Hitler failed the first time, so you have to continue to vote or a Hitler like figure could take over.

It's beginning to feel a bit North Korea and the USA, unfortunately we have a very timid people here these days and no one wants to speak out or stand up for what is right and we will most likely continue in the wrong direction
Maybe there is some translation error or something else I'm not following but as presented by the video there is a massive geographical error. Changchun is a very big city in Jilin province which is in fact north of Shenyang in Liaoning province. Both provinces border North Korea. Thus Changchun is nowhere remotely close to Laos (at least 2000 miles away)
this escape is too detailed (date / route / etc) and should not post it , surely NK is able to see this video , then others can't escape , hope you re-edit & re-post
This is a fascinating story of your defection, Seo Hyun Gyeong. I've been watching these interesting videos and I noticed you always wear your North Korean school uniform. I was curious as to the reason for this attire. It seems you would be more comfortable in normal clothes that teenagers wear, now that you have freedom to choose.
When NK people arrive in South Korea, they have problems to fit in, because it is a totally different society. I feel sorry for them. It was the same with people from East Germany fleeing to West Germany before 1989. They had the same problems and going back to the East was sometimes impossible.
Yeah sometimes people park in their favorite spot or fish near their homes. Some American women have had to endure traffic behind them, being honked at, not getting a window seat on a flight or unbelievably some of them have had to queue or even wait.
American woman here: -My sister s*x trafficked and killed by men -Me forced to have s*x with a male at age 15 when I kept saying please stop -My phone and keys taken away and held at g*npoint at age 20 because I was helping a guy detail his car -Woke up to being choked by a guy at night Just the start of it.
Your parents and family are so brave to decide to leave. Praying for North Korea to be a free country someday. However, so long as they are being supported by China, that's gonna be a tough dream to happen. China is their biggest partner when it comes to money laundering and nuclear developments. It also relies to the hands of local North Koreans on how they will have drastic change to be free from their authoritarian socialist country
If u are spilling out the secrets on how to escape, wont this make other people who wants to escaped impossible? Because i am sure NK is watching TH-cam and knows where are the place u are talking about
Yeah, very nice, but unfortunately I didn't hear the most important part - the sum they paid the broker. Lowest tarif was something around 5000 USD. But that didn't include broker risking life and leading you through the border. Usually it was up to you to cross the border and broker would meet you in China. So it means her father had to pay additional 10-15K USD for this service. Lady, where did he get these money if average salary in NK is 0.15 USD as you said? Ok, smuggling is profitable, but if people get 0.15 USD how can they afford to buy smuggled goods? I'm confused. Also you tell us you contacted Korean embassy in China. That is not normal. Usual scheme involves broker moving you illegally to Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia where you contact Korean embassy. Why? Cause Korean embassy in China itself is afraid of pissing Chinese and helps NK defectees only in two cases: 1) they are very important people with good connections in party or military elite and thus can be useful for SK intelligence, 2) they are able to pay huge amount of money. So its additional 15-20K USD. Lady, now I'm even more confused... who are you? Is your father some kind of second secretary of province?
@@hensonchin9090 clearly that's not enough. Besides, who would buy a house in a country with average salary of 0.15 USD? The sums we are talking about a very big for NK. Either her father was extremely well placed politically or had very soild business (which again means good connections with security and party apparatus). In any case if daughter of such man would never be chosen for 'pleasure squad'. And if she would because of some mistake he would simply pay a bribe. That's something else here
@@genchebanu Or maybe her father saved enough money before they planned for their escaped. And also I think they have their own business there as well.
@@hensonchin9090 the whole story is based on almost spontaneous idea to run after child was chosen for 'pleasure squad'. And to be clear: I'm happy they ran away. NK is totalitarian dictatorship. But unfortunately as many escapees girl is now involved in what I call 'industry of horrors'. Instead of telling simple story how she grew in rich family of some NK businessman who decided that his children need better life and education than what NK can give them, so he paid large sum to broker who arranged easy escape through the border (experts believe these brokers have ties with NK officials, bribing them so that security personnel will simply close their eyes), we are listening to a heroic adventure fairy-tale. But it's not a heroic act to cross NK border, it's just a business operation. You have enough money? You can leave. You don't have money? Well, bad for you. I think because of her father's money they had access to SK TV and music, so they knew how life in SK is better. So they saved enough money on some shadow operations which involved NK party officials (and you can't make business in NK without support from corrupt officials), sold their business and simply left. Good for them
In other interview she mentioned that her mother escape first several years prior and worked at South Korea. her mother paid the broker fee. th-cam.com/video/3SdPoYi4NdU/w-d-xo.html
These subtitles r too fast. I never have the volume on my tv. I’m always reading subtitles. Most of these subtitles are too fast even for a fast reader. Can’t watch it. Sorry.
I blame America for sanctioning N Korea. If America didn't sanction them they would not need to be isolated and prevent people from leaving. They would be able to freely trade internationally. Sanctions can hurt the countries economy. Good thing is some countries are powerful to survive with US sanctions some cannot.
They don't have the means for that, because they won't be able to finance anything grand enough to overtake the military. Any small uprising will just result in the small group being killed.
@@melindalicht6699 it was the same w nazi germany and different dictatorships in the eastern countries. Incredible - glad you made it out safely!
It's beginning to feel a bit North Korea and the USA, unfortunately we have a very timid people here these days and no one wants to speak out or stand up for what is right and we will most likely continue in the wrong direction
Very interesting 😮😮
I guess this defector is popular right now as I'm seeing her on multiple channels
God bless you!
So brave yet so heartbreaking ❤
Wow, what a compelling story. Thank goodness her father knew math! Pay attention in school, kids...
Crazy countries like North Korea still exist. Sad to see what the unfortunate people born in those countries have to go through.
PROTECT THIS LADY AT ALL COST.. IF KJU FELT THREATENED HE WILL USE ALL HIS RESOURCES TO GET THIS GIRL BACK TO NK !
Eres bienvenida en Puerto Rico ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🇵🇷🇺🇸
When NK people arrive in South Korea, they have problems to fit in, because it is a totally different society. I feel sorry for them. It was the same with people from East Germany fleeing to West Germany before 1989. They had the same problems and going back to the East was sometimes impossible.
storm troops...
it is scary that literally someone is living a 180 degree of life we do
All of this, so she can be free. I'm so glad she got there safe and is doing well 💓 . Much love from the US❤
I think she should not give out information of locations from where she escaped. This might make it difficult for other north koreans to escape.
She is so beautiful and Lovely
I hope the officials didnt see this video, if they did they wouldve secured the escape route
It really sucks for women here in America doesn’t it??????
Yeah sometimes people park in their favorite spot or fish near their homes. Some American women have had to endure traffic behind them, being honked at, not getting a window seat on a flight or unbelievably some of them have had to queue or even wait.
American woman here:
-My sister s*x trafficked and killed by men
-Me forced to have s*x with a male at age 15 when I kept saying please stop
-My phone and keys taken away and held at g*npoint at age 20 because I was helping a guy detail his car
-Woke up to being choked by a guy at night
Just the start of it.
progressives and feminists should appreciate what they have in the west. of course, with respect to individual freedoms.
Why appreciate something is normal, in nk and other countries is not normal
@@Magicarius because of that
How can we know that she was really from the North Korea.
That statement I finally had the right to dream is crazy
If u are spilling out the secrets on how to escape, wont this make other people who wants to escaped impossible? Because i am sure NK is watching TH-cam and knows where are the place u are talking about
Hug from Philippines 🥺
When this Korean girl fled so many brokers how did they manage to pay Them, they didn't have any Money can Anyone explain??
She said they were smuggling until they couldn't. They sold their apartment for cheap to fund their escape
@StudyBuddy-wq9uf i thought everything was owned by the Government???right???
@@harrymal8141 I am sure like in China there are some transactions happening
@@harrymal8141 Look at the 17 min mark
Apparently not
I dont think she should reveal where she went out
It’s happening today by the thousands.
Her father looking a guides from moon and praying too😌
and people complain about how had their lives are in western countries ....should come and listen/watch this video and see what real struggle is
Sad😢
Based on her story, her father sold their house, So I think that's the money that they bring to escaped.
Whose the friends of this country?
2:38 she said the salary is 3000won per month
These subtitles r too fast. I never have the volume on my tv. I’m always reading subtitles. Most of these subtitles are too fast even for a fast reader. Can’t watch it. Sorry.
Touch the gear button on the video and choose the next slower video play speed. You can slow it down to one quarter speed if you want to.
Because its early in the morning
💕
But her mother is left alone in NK. .
No I think her mother was already in SK before them
@@katcookwontcook8945 that makes sense. How else did she make enough money to pay the brokers.
What strength, what courage and what beauty, she now has life ahead of her. All my respects to the father who saved his children.
Walked for three day etc then walked through mountain etc, some people cant be bothered to walk to the local shop or school, they drive 200 m,
This has to stop
What a harrowing story
Could they not contact the South Korean embassy in China?
no they can not since China's ally with North Korea so they will be sent back if they told China
@deva_shish18 oh you're right, even if they SK can help them, they cannot intervene if Chinese authorities want to repatriate them to NK.
❤
wow
I blame America for sanctioning N Korea. If America didn't sanction them they would not need to be isolated and prevent people from leaving. They would be able to freely trade internationally. Sanctions can hurt the countries economy. Good thing is some countries are powerful to survive with US sanctions some cannot.
Subtitles too fast!
Can't possibly read this that fast.
Why don't North Koreans rise up get their country back??
Someone will report them
They don't have the means for that, because they won't be able to finance anything grand enough to overtake the military.
Any small uprising will just result in the small group being killed.
@@melindalicht6699 it was the same w nazi germany and different dictatorships in the eastern countries. It always ends up with revolt, abominable things, and then there’s either a democracy or a new dictatorship…. 😢 Humans are horrible….
NK people need help. I am sure there is an underground etc etc…. still help from other countries wouldn’t go amiss….
