      that might be very true, I think after 2 hours of shooting the vest looks better - Maybe for someone who is very well trained its 4 hours - for me its 15 minutes :P

      You need to add the flycam you van put the flycam in the vest, so you have optimal balance. So you can still make the dope gimbal shots, that is why you close to use the gimbal!

    Who are those non professionals posted below…. Vast has nothing to do with smooth videos. It’s the gimbal that make the videos smooth. Vast is to take the load off your hands, arms, shoulder for long events.. carrying camera for a day long wedding event without vest is a pain.

  • @LivingProofFilmz
    @LivingProofFilmz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not sure why so many people are focused on it being smoother. Nobody said it was gonna be smoother. Wouldn’t expect this rig to be. It’s one of the cheaper ones. This is meant to save you from exhaustion recording long events. Me for example, I shoot 8-10 hour music video shoots. This would help so much. If I need the fancy shots that are hard to get, just take it off. Simple.

I have the black magic pocket 4k and the crane 3 - i make indy narrative features. what I need a set up like this for is doing extended takes of frontal walk and talk scenes. Do you think I will be able to do don juan shots - of walking forward with the gimbal facing backwards and me being able to walk forwards looking at a monitor? I know you know what a don juan shot is :) thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    I don't get why there is no counter balance on the bottom of the camera mount. Typically the thing that makes the shots smooth with a vest is the dynamic balance.

  • @NinhNguyen2

    here we see gimbals trying to get rid of vertical wobble to be like steadicams.
    That being said, I tend to bring a small steadicam with me on family travels for long tracking shots, everything else is handheld.
    Sadly I don’t use gimbals as much 😭

    Why do I see it act worse with that vest? I see some bounce. Or is it just me? I think others have commented the same.
    The only benefit would be the weight off your arms and lower back after a long day of shoot. Does it help with stability? Not really. Probably makes it worse. But if you're shooting slow mo, it'll help.

  • @StephenEastwood
    @StephenEastwood 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    actually looks worse with the vest, more bounce. It is a very small and simple version of what steadicam has made, but they have a gimbal on the mount arm so it can rotate and tilt while mounted to eliminate most of those limitations on movement.

    • @StephenEastwood
      @StephenEastwood 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That said, their adapter cost nearly as much as this whole unit and requires a vest and arm to be owned or purchased. So there is that.

    Just out of interest, because I agree with other posters that it looked smoother without the vest, but were you taking more care with your steps to be smooth with the gimbal only? Im wondering if you walked nice and slow and smooth steps if the result would be different.

  • @aknittel1
    @aknittel1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a ZHIYUN Crane 3 lab. I wound up getting the GLide Gear DNA 6000 vest as NEITHER Tiffen STeadicam-S NOR the PRO version of this one offer a system to mount it WITH the ability to vertical tilt. I'm still looking and hoping. The Glide Gear DOES give me enough crane up/crane down height.

    • @aknittel1
      @aknittel1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also there is no way that articulating arm with the small sections mounted to what amounts to your stomach is going to give the same crane up/down distance as one mounted to your waist in two large sections like the glide gear DNA 6000 or the steadicam-S can.

    I think the footage has been going up and down, because your dampening was to strong. You have to find the right balance. Second: When walking, don’t grab the whole thing with your entire hand. Most steady cam operators just use their fingertips to slightly correct and maneuver.

      YELANGU I use a yelangu stedicam with a Weebill s gimbal on a stedicam vest from a company in India. The yoke didn’t fit initially, but I contacted them, gave them the diameter of the hole in the yelangu handle. They made one with the right diameter and my rig works great. I’d really like to try a larger stedicam, as the yelangu cannot really handle the weight of my camera/lens/gimbal system.
