I get finishing the details up yet it blows my mind that someone would not buy my house because they didn't like my couch and my bedroom was painted yellow.
Was there no attempt to camouflage the ugly gas meter and AC unit in front? Really the first thing that you see!!! Some shrubs would go a long way. Whew.

Yes, I'm surprised nothing was done about curb appeal. Just concealing the oddly placed air conditioner and utilities meter would have been a big improvement.
I've watched this series since it aired back in the early 2000's. It never ceases to amaze me how clueless these people are as to why their homes aren't selling. Between the filth (do British people never clean their homes?), unfinished DIY projects, unfinished repairs, questionable paint colors and their hoarding habits-honestly, they often look like a car boot sale threw up in their living rooms, they can't get potential buyers past the entry way. Nobody wants to move into a home with a list of projects to complete, they want move in ready. This is not rocket science.
I can speak for our family only, but having a baby can scramble your brains for a while. My husband and I were in a complete daze! Survival mode and distortion of perspective go hand-in-hand! There's also a lot of learning about how to communicate with your spouse as well. Complacency is sometimes the result, going numb while your partner grows up. I was really selfish and entitled, and my husband was childlike and needy, himself. Throw that all into the mix, and the dust and mediocre state of the house just become background noise, even if you're selling, I bet.
If you can get one of these TV programmes to take you on it's all off your shoulders. And I bet the show get deals on labour and materials - product placement. Win win! You need the show, the show needs you.
And these clueless sellers don’t want to finish anything and expect buyers to look past it. The agent is not a good agent either. Why hasn’t she pushed her advice? Worthless agent who wants her commission. Good example of not doing your homework when selecting an agent and getting the house ready for sale.
If I was to buy that house, first I would take down the tin ceiling because it is ugly. Next I would take down the headboard cause I have one of my own. In the living room I would take the floating self and mirror and but in a gas firplace or electric fireplace to make the room more cozy. All this will cost money so that is something to think about when you buy a house.
All of the changes would be minimal in time and cost though. A fireplace is not necessary. You can't lower the price of a home just because it doesn't have a fireplace. That's ridiculous, lol.
Yeah, they covered up their fireplace to fit their ugly oversized furniture instead. Should have been the other way around, kept the fireplace and replaced the furniture with attractive furniture that properly fits the space and is functional.
A pitty nothing welcoming was done in the enterance garden. A few plants (some colors) would have been much more inviting to go have a look in the house.
What in the world was Sophie wearing? Lol. I'm sorry, but that shiny tin ceiling didn't go with the style of the home of the rest of the decor. Personally, I would have painted it at least. The rest of the house looked better though, especially the dining room. I'm not so sure about the candle shelf. I'm thinking a faux fireplace might have looked better.
The advantages of the shiny ceiling and giant mirror are the light and making the rooms look larger. Many want a fireplace but rarely use it. They can suck all the heated air up the chimney. Pretty candles can add warmth and ambiance.
@@serenakoleno9338 I love candles too, but I was suggesting a faux fireplace, which provides warmth AND ambiance. 🔥 I'm not so sure that tin ceiling made the room feel larger. It was just too busy to where it distracted from the rest of the room...but that's just me. I think painting it white would have provided light, but also texture.

I’ve seen potential buyers walk into a place and immediately focus on the furniture as if they’re going to be stuck with it when they buy the house.
