Dog beds , dog beds , dog beds. When Sophie gets hung up on something she really gets stuck. We also know that she loathes vertical blinds.

I get that dog owners might feel upset about the comments made in this episode. The show is about making your home appealing to as many people as possible, people without dogs, with dogs kept inside, kept outside, cat owners etc. For me Sophie's comments make sense in view of the aim of the show and don't say anything about her being an animal lover or not.

Their real estate agent totally let them down by not telling them how to stage their home! I read a book about staging, and staged my first home for sale, in 1998, so there is absolutely no excuse for their real estate agent not to have suggested it in 2008+! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Some are better then others. Some are happy to take money from easier homes that will sell.

how do you know he didn't? It's very likely he mentioned that certain things needed changing but the couple don't know how to achieve it. Plus it's nice to get free labor from the tv crew.

I would have definitely cleaned, patched and seal coated the blacktop driveway to improve curb appeal. Right now it looks quite old and drab.

One of her better efforts but why on earth place the sofa against the wall next to the fireplace - duh!

    • @wilmaknickersfit
      @wilmaknickersfit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I agree, it's ridiculous. I also think the sofa and armchair look better without the covers, plus the covers on the dining chairs are not fitted properly. Actually overall the furniture tweaks look cheap.

To showcase the room size. It's not about aesthetics it's about utility. Furnitures are there to give an idea what could be.

Well done, some much needed changes. Buying and sell a house within a year makes zero financial sense given all the fees involved. You should only buy a house if you plan on living in it for at least 10 years or more.

Not advisable to sell so soon after buying. It looks like they needed help to make it into a home they were comfortable in - as spaces i.e. back porch very underutilized. Front appeal could have added yet more colour - to door and window trim.

I wouldn’t demo the stairwell. The walls and ceiling appear to be in good shape, nothing that a good new coat of paint wouldn’t cure. Seems like you’re making more work for yourself

I watched a video that stated that all of these shows are staged/faked and that the people are not really buying/selling a home. Doesn't matter to me, I still enjoy watching to see what they're going to do and what I would do.
I can't really believe that the (supposed) owners expect to make much of a profit when they made no improvements but actually caused damage (fireplace).
I was amused that the male co-owner was bragging about the lot being the largest on the street and later was saying hopefully it was the last time he'd have to cut the lawn. to sell:
    Exterior-
I would have sealed the driveway, painted the garage door to look like a carriage door (add fake hinges/handles), trimmed the front shrub down at least 2 feet, cleaned up/mulched the flower bed in front of the house, added a trellis (with climbing rose) between round window and corner kitchen window and installed flower window boxes on the front and side kitchen windows.
    If I bought the house:
    Exterior-
All of the above, as well as, install cupola on garage roof, install fake/blind eyebrow window on house roof, new address marker, new porch light, new mailbox. On the back porch I would install sheer curtains that can be drawn closed not just decorative and put a gazebo over the hot tub for privacy because it looks like they're whole yard perimeter is neighbor bound.
I love little houses. They are so easy to transform into qu
    aint cozy cottages.

I like the redo they did very much. But dogs sleeping in the bedroom "unhygienic?" I don't think so. I had many dogs from childhood on (I'm now 70) and didn't get sick from my dogs sleeping either on a dog bed next to my bed or on the actual bed (when they were young and spry enough to jump up on it. Obviously, you need to clean regularly and vacuum dog hair if you have dogs that shed!

I don't understand what she has against dogs. I get that you shouldn't have dog beds in the middle of the bedroom but people looking for a house with such big lot for sure have already or plan to have a dog. Otherwise why would you need all that yard for?

Yeah, Sofie is great at this work, but did give the distinct impression that she didn't care much for dogs, which is a big no no in her business I would think. Too many dog lovers in this world! There are diplomatic ways to handle such a situation without allowing personal feelings to enter in to it, especially since she preaches that to her sellers all the time!

    • @candy11401

@@hughkirk3946 well some of that is true and some people might prefer less hair/fur or some people could be allergic but if having a Dog area put people off then there is something wrong with the person criticising as they are going into someone else's home and criticising their life, Dogs and other Animals are family but yes she could say it nicer

@8:29 Disagree with this so called real estate expert, having a rug underneath a dining table is gross. Can't imagine that being practical for a real family with children and pets. This TV host is condescending and insincere towards the sellers. When you're buying a home, you're told to look past the paint and current homeowners furniture. She seems to get stuck on the most moronic things, like a dog with a bone that won't let it go. Funny how she conveniently skipped over the show homes yellow walls.
