Notice how Crowley walks on the side nearest to the street when they're on the sidewalk (a thing gentlemen used to do) and switches sides after they cross so Aziraphale is still on the side away from traffic, even though they have only a few steps to go to the bookshop. In general, I think Crowley is on the left (sinister) side and Aziraphale on the right, except for this (when Crowley is taking the protective side) or when they are in the car (the driver's side in England being on the right side of the car).
Very smart and cool reaction to the pilot of one of the best tv shows recently made. The moral background and adorable wit and charm plus the ridiculously talented cast makes this a rare treat. I mean, it doesn't get better than David Tennant and Michael Sheen tbh.
omg i just saw this popping up on my screen and could not believe my eyes!! AH I'M SO EXCITED! this is one of my all time fav series, s2 is currently making me chew through the earth's crust so i can finally throw myself into boiling lava bc that's how good this show's been so far. seeing fav reactioners picking it up to react to makes the wait till s3 more bearable somehow. i can't wait for you to see all that is to see for this show!! edit: ok now i calmed down and actually watched the whole reaction, a few things: i love all your insights so far, super nice that you catch onto so many things so quickly. this show is like biblical satire to me, it's supposed to be a comedy but at the same time it poses a lot of good philosophical questions and makes you think. it has a champagne casting and the best chemistry between the main two leads who actually became the best of friends in real life while filming this. one of the things that grips me the most about this series is how perfect it is tbh. i read the book it's based on a few years before this show was announced and i was very interested to see it brought to life but i could not imagine how good and on-point the adaptation would be. you said you are not sure if you're starting this at where it should be started and to that all i can say is that this series is book-reader approved by the fandom. it is very much beloved and one of the best book to screen adaptations i've ever seen! so yeah i think you're at the right place starting with it, it's one of those rare cases where the show actually does right by the book.
This is not exactly a pilot it's more in nature of part 1 of a five and a half hour film. The book is legendary. Much denounced by some Christians, an introduction to readers of one of the authors to the other, an introduction to Queen's music for both groups of readers, an introduction to both authors for Queen fans, and finally a book that made Armageddon laugh out loud funny, which along the way covered some fairly deep philosophical subjects and even managed to explain Britain's pre decimalization currency to young people and Americans.
You truly understand this show already. It's rare to see someone reacting to the show and to get it right away, but you do. Including the love story between Aziraphale and Crowley. I think you'll love the rest of it, too. Both seasons. And yes, this is where it starts. Only the two seasons exist at the moment, but a third and final season is being written as we speak. Then there's the original book, a few audio book adaptations and next year, there will be a graphic novel based on the book as well. These trigger warnings, while technically accurate, make this seem so much more risque than it is. I mean, I would say watching this at 12 wouldn't traumatize anyone. The nudity isn't even salacious at all.
Ok this turned out to be a gigantic comment, I apologize But wahhhhh I'm so excited for this! Definitely a fun watch if you are interested in themes of morality and religion and all that, it plays around with those concepts in a way I haven't seen much media do - it's usually either super serious and deep, or making fun of it in a mocking way. This somehow has the balance of actually looking at the deeper themes while still making fun of it a little bit (or at least, making fun of the fundamentalist way of viewing it). There's no different version, to give a short rundown - Good Omens the book was written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, published in 1990. The first season fully covers the book (with some slight changes). There was a sequel planned but sadly Pratchett passed away in 2016 so it was never written. One of his wishes was for it to become adapted on screen, so Neil took on making that happen and Season 1 was released in 2019. That was planned to be it, as there was nothing more to adapt - but the two authors had already begun planning out the sequel so when Neil got the opportunity, he wanted to tell that story on screen as well. However, the sequel story has to start in a slightly different place than how S1 ended, so it will be S3, and S2 will be a sort of 'bridge season' to get to the starting point of the sequel (good to keep that in mind when watching S2, as it has quite a different vibe from S1). So we are now waiting for amazon to renew the show for the final season of the trilogy!! Some random comments while watching: I so fully get what u mean about evading things that are recommended to you strongly - it is why I try my best to keep it in reins when recommending things to my friends, or I just know this mechanism is gonna kick in cause I can definitely come across strongly with the things I love :D You might know Coraline, or maybe Stardust, as one of Neil Gaiman's works? Those were the two I knew without really clocking that it's Neil! I love that when Ineffable Husbands appear (fandom name of Aziraphale and Crowley, if that wasn't obvious heh), you just watch them this little smile, cause, same I love how most people get the sense of them having been secretly in love before even seeing them interact in the present, just from Aziraphale's reaction to Gabriel mentioning Crowley :D Good Omens is inspired by/a bit of a parody of the horror movie The Omen, where american diplomats get their baby switched for the Antichrist, so that's where that whole thing is coming from! Love that you noticed the hoverboard angel, I only did on a much later rewatch and now I always do and can't concentrate on anything else Not you using Seven as a rhyme to count days of the week, I was like "wait this sounds familiar, is this some nursery rhyme for learning the days of the week? ...wait" Random fact - "Adam Young" is a play on him being Adam Junior, basically, and it's funny he names the dog "Dog" as the first Adam was supposedly the one to give names to all animals Excited for the rest of this, and even if you don't become attached to the show or anything like that, I still hope you enjoy the ride!! Neil Gaiman has the plot written until the end of the third series, which will be the end.. so now I'm thinking this will end in a Garden..
You know what I like about the show is that it’s just completely honest in the fact that it mimics the fact that the Bible itself meet us believe that the Earth was created in the year 4004 BC also saying that dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals fossils were jokes that paleontologists haven’t seen yet because the majority of other shows and stories like try to include dinosaurs and prehistory with some magic in the supernatural and all that yet it doesn’t mix it’s either one or the other and that’s where a lot of these fucking superhero movies do ants like are you fantasy or are you Sci Fi like what are they supposed to be
