5:52 - Yeau but the difference between that and this here is that FF13-2 actually WAS an entirely new entry. Yeah it used the same battle system, albeit a more refined one, but it also had a whole new storyline with multiple end points, a whole bunch of DLC of its own AND new characters and assets to go with it. So much if that can't be considered much of a similar or same thing as Samurai Warriors here as these are LEGIT SEQUELS!
In short 1. 4-II acts like Xtreme Legends 2. 4-II adds new story mode, keep in mind that 4's story mode is not included in 4-II 3. New character added in 4-II, Naomasa li 4. 4-II Have a lot of missing maps (example: Anegawa)
sengoku basara 2 heroes, 3 utage and 4 sumeragi all over again. New story and characters with no traces from the main game story, even tho you can totally tell it fits on the disc so they do it on purpose to force you to buy both the main game and the expansion.
The crazy thing is that I had this same exact experience when I went to get back into the warriors franchise. I asked the game stop employee what’s the difference and they said 4 II was the improved version. I went against their judgement and got 4. After beating it, I was like well damn if 4-II is even better, then it’ll be a hell of a game. Traded in that copy of 4 for II and regretted it. I never saw another copy of 4 in my area and I wish I never got rid of it. I eventually got it for the ps3 but i was sad I even did that
Very good and thorough video! I enjoyed 4 quite a bit more, but 4-II was definitely fun. I think it's basically a more robust Xtreme Legends. I miss Xtreme Legends tbh. One thing I do remember (sorry if you did mention it, it was a long video, so maybe I already forgot) is that in 4-II were a lot more enemies that blocked/reflected your Hyper Attacks. I remember because the first time I played it it surprised me. It made those Hyper Attacks less useful (were too OP in 4). I would say, amazing first video, my man!
Interesting that you mention that about the enemies blocking your hyper attacks, I feel like I only just noticed this after we made the vid haha Thanks for the kind words Lup!
The issue with the Xtreme Legends comparison is that all the Xtreme Legends versions of their respective games are just objectively better than their counterparts, with their base game + new content. This is a remix of their base game with alternate content. In that way Samurai Warriors 4-2 is a lot more experimental. Whether that was the intention from the start, or something they decided on after the lawsuit, is the question.
Back when 4-II was released (first time I had to do buy US PSN giftcards, since the game released like 45 days later on my region, due to some rating shenanigans) and I had like 115 hours of SW 4 on PS3. I noticed all the little tweaks in gameplay that they did in 4-II, so I appreciated the game in a whole, but I liked 4 more because of the Chronicles mode, which were like 80% of my playtime in SW 4. Much later I re-bought 4-II on PS4, but was unable to buy the 4 because for some reason, SW 4 is unreasonably high priced on Brazilian's Playstation Network (much beyond the 40 USD on the US Store). Also, appreciated the video, because well.. It's good for those who don't know and call musou the XXX YYY games.
Nice video bro! I bought a SW4, and I didn't regret it. Looking at SW4-II, it looks like an empty game, as I noticed there are no cutscenes that hooked you like in SW4. About the sw4-II raisin, All these fixes, imo, are not so important, but a bug with a horse, lol
It's kinda sad that SW4 doesn't have the "definitive" version in terms of Gameplay. DW6 and DW7 has their Empires games which improve the combat, adding some skills, etc but SW4 Empires puts too many focus on the relationship aspect that they changed some aspect that made gameplay isn't as fun as SW4.
As much as I love the Warrior games, I HATE this practice of multiple skus for the same title. What makes it more infuriating is they don't exactly give you enough info to know if it's really worth it to buy it again so I typically don't or wait years later to buy any of their games in the first place. I imagine I won't get to Dynasty Warriors Origins until the 2030s.
I played SW4 on the PS3 and then 4-II on PC and by far, 4-II is just an inferior revamped version of the game. I'm so glad we have 4DX on PC now. SW4 taking the DW7/8 route of faction storylines is a way better narration style than the traditional individual stories. In SW4, character leveling is super simple, and the items are shared. In 4-II, unlocking the skill chart for each character is VERY tedious and you also lose the fun of collecting unique character items. In term of weapons, while both games have random weapon drops, in SW4, the gem system is still easier to work with than the merging system in 4-II. (Spirit of Sanada's weapon crafting is probably the best when it comes to player choice, though it takes a seriously long time to gather the materials)
As someone who still hasn't played much Samurai Warriors, I'm probably gonna play both tbh. Especially since I remember seeing the edition of base 4 that came with some kinda anime Blu-Ray at a local retro game store, been a while since I've been there though, it'll probably still be there anyways because I've seen it every time I've gone there. I'd say this is also a good debut for Jacob as well, sort of a more chil vibe, I like the contrast between the two of you.
I think both are definitely still worth playing for sure, curious to hear your thoughts on em’ once you get around to playing them! And thanks! I think he’ll be a great fit for the channel😁
SW4 did have notoriously bad battle text lag. You sometimes miss important queues because dialogue text takes so long to transition. I think they fixed it in II
"Remixing" wasn't as elegant as just having original game save data, at least not for most of them like in PS2 games, you had to eject the xl disc, insert the original disc, eject the original disc and insert the xl disc again. You even have footage of sw2 asking to insert and eject discs. If was a pain to do so all the time, all to just unlock what already was on the xl disc.
i needed this video was not sure which one to get and 4 2 is more like the 3rd one piece warriors game which is what i licked gameplay wise pirate warriors 4 is as bad as samurai 5 and dynasty 9 so thanks for showing this
4II didnt feel like an expansion but a sidegrade. The issue is it really seems to show it suffered from troubled development. If its due to the lawsuit and being forced to make a whole game instead of expansion pack or whatnot I wont be able to tell that. I think id take regular 4 over 4II 4II isnt bad just seems to have an identity crisis. If things played out differently 4II woulda been an XL and nailed but as it stands its just alright. Finally. Welcome Jacob! Or Jakob? Either way ya got a soothing voice i like it :D
After digging into the whole lawsuit situation it got me wondering about what a DW9XL or SW5XL could have looked like hey! But I agree, 4II would have been a perfect XL for 4. Also, thanks for the kind words! I think he’s a perfect fit for the channel😎
This is just 40% of games based on the core Samurai Warriors 4. Wishing the DX Steam version was the fusion of both 4 and 4-II on everything, both Koei Tecmo didn't. Naomasa Ii's character design is amazing. The red devil star of Mikawa who goes first in battle. He looks like Capcom's Zero from Megaman series. Kinda Koei's screw you respond to Capcom. HAHAHA!
What’s crazy is I was just wondering this question
To keep it short. 4-II is an expansion pack sold as a full game.
a common practice among musou games sadly.
Even capcom did it with all 4 main sengoku basaras on top of all the remasters for different consoles.
Kinda sounds like you're recommending just getting 4-II then.
4-II doesnt have the edit character story, just edit character
I'm pretty new to Dynasty/Samurai Warriors and this was EXACTLY the video I needed, thank you!
Glad we could help!
@@KoeiKollectionBro which is the best of both?

true we was more of a sequel /spin off
I remember being like 17 going through everyone’s story and I would loudly sigh every time I had to play through Sekigahara again and again.
and that why im playing SW 4 normal in coop becouse fack that😂
In short
1. 4-II acts like Xtreme Legends
2. 4-II adds new story mode, keep in mind that 4's story mode is not included in 4-II

And II (Roman Numeral) also stands for All Caps Ii Naomasa’s Surname. Heheh
You forgot survival mode
I think the name Samurai Warriors 4-II is a double entendre on the new character “ii” naomasa and the fact that its a second samurai warriors 4
Amazing Video perfectly explains the differences between 4 and 4ii

thanks explains the difference a lot better than other videos ❤❤❤
Awesome video! I've played both and I prefer Samurai Warriors 4 as I really enjoy Chronicle Mode more then Survival Mode.

new video format and voice wasn't on my bingo card
keep it up
Samurai Warriors 4-II’s story mode focuses on one character’s story i.e. Matsunaga Hisahide, Ii Naomasa, Lady Hayakawa, Katakura Kojuro, et al.

It wouldve been an expansion but had to be its own game. Way i see it, its SW 4: hypothecal edition

I wish I saw this sooner….. I bought both of them because I thought if I played 4 first, my characters would get transferred over to 4-II🤦🏻♂️
SW4 was like a Beta Released Game then SW4II was like the Main Game.
I just found out that Capcom once had Sue Koei. Capcom also has a musou game called Sengoku Basara but they are not confident enough to leave Japan.
SW4 did have notoriously bad battle text lag. You sometimes miss important queues because dialogue text takes so long to transition. I think they fixed it in II

I like 4-II more because it brought back survival mode
best version of SW4 is spirit of Sanada
When KT Released SW4 EX on Steam, they should have Re-Release 4-II.

I wish they brought back that monopoly game in 2 its was too fun

Wait wait wait. How did you get a copy in English?!
Never mind I get this mixed up with Sengoku Basara
when companies become greedy, it's the consumers who suffers... ;w;
I personally, hate what they've done with Samurai warriors. 4 onwards isn't anything that I like.
I know that 4-ii is just some kind of expansion. But hey! You can play that game on a toaster laptop😂

Oh man Naomasa Ii’s design is incredible, but I’ve never thought about his likeness to Zero before hahaha I can totally see Koei doing that
I bought all games on vita and ps4 so I can data transfer
Samurai warrior 4 III
Here is one thing they both have though: YOUR ALLIES ARE CRAP!! THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. THEY ARE WORSE THAN THE ALLIES FROM DW8!!
Too expensive for 10 year old game imo
It's also not 2 it's samuari warriors 4 Li technically as how it's meant to be said as it's about the Li clan
it's Ii, with two "I", not Li.
@@青雷の戦士 I know there is no L in the Japanese language, but its easier to explain to people who don't know that.
4-2 is DLC
