    Perhaps this was one of my favorite episode. I too loved you review and conversations with captains
    boat both of the boats that you met here. Thank you for being such nice down to earth people.

    Hi. we loved this video! Hearing the other sailors and seeing their boats and how they have it organized, what their plans are, boat tours.... very interesting! Best of luck with the crossing. Thank you for keeping us entertained. Sorry to hear about your dingy. From what we've seen, you're not the only ones. Still sucks, I know...

      Such a great interview with a very interesting fellow. He is a great example of people just "getting out there" and "doing it" without a big boat and a huge budget. Well done is right!

    Any dinghy that floats is better than no dinghy at all! It's a bummer that you had to get a "new" one though. Thanks for all the work you do on these videos so we can all follow along.

    9:50 That's what they recommend about a horse saddle girth. If someone else puts on the saddle, then always check that the girth is properly tightened yourself. I'd say the same thing about closing gates for horses. Always double check yourself. Yet another... hooking up the horse trailer and how the horses are set up inside. Always double check yourself. Unfortunately necessary... but good advice you give!

    Very good lesson in that there are multiple ways to cruise on a sailboat. For me, a 40-44 foot would be just right. I like the bigger tankage, more space for storage, and more room on deck, but 35 foot is great as well. Having had a 27 ft Nor'sea and a 40 ft Endeavour CC bigger was better. Motion was better too. But if you can afford it 60+ feet would be great... go fast ! It always sucks to lose something or have it stolen, but life goes on and you moved on in the best way possible.
    Great video blog !

Happened to us once too only we were lucky and she drifted onto a near by Island not far off. We were just lucky to find her again. (kids tied off the dinghy, we should have checked it.)Live and learn I guess. Looking forward to your crossing!

    This was a fantastic video - thanks.
    I'm so sorry about the loss of your recently named Quicky. I'm sure the loss will be with you for a while but hopefully, you will be able to not dwell on it and the new dinghy will be reliable.
    It was interesting that Tanguy on one of the Vendee boats was in the harbor. I'm following the race regularly. As of today, 7 of the original 29 boats have dropped out.
    Thanks for the tour of that 62 footer. That was very interesting and awsome.
    That was an excellent interview that Johan did on the boat of the Danish sailor.
    I hope all goes well with your crossing. I'll look forward to your next update.

Thank you both,so much for allowing us to be a part of your adventures. Maybe Quicki will send you a postcard in the future :-) Gud välsigne dig och vara säker!

    From a 62 footer to Tolgars 30 foot boat Sarafin it is impressive how we can make do with what we have. So one can be just as safe in either if the boat is set up correctly. I can't help but wonder how your friends trips are going. Traveling with his wife and young child reminds me of Rosie Swale's travels on board her Oceanic 30 catamaran.

    It is something I just dont quite understand here. How are you uploading you videos. Last episode came out while you were 4-5 days west of any Cape Verde land. And this one came out while you were north, far north of French Guyana.
    Do you use your sat-phone to upload videos or do you have a friend back home whom you uploaded the videos too and who is logging in to your account to upload the video?

    what an amazing Swedish sailboat...it's like a house...I think the boat was too big for only 4 adult crew...yes you can cross the ocean in so many ways...I thought the 2 cycle is less weight that the 4 cycle at the same horsepower...a lot of people like Tohatsu engine over Honda...here in the states, depending on where you are, most of the time you really need to get a long chain with a lock to lock up your dinghy but the more shabby it looks the safer it is from thieves...God speed on your Atlantic crossing...I know you will make it easily...Peace, Capt. Rob Florida USA

    I am sorry you lost your dinghy. That has to be frustrating.
    Keeping with the theme of boat types. Can you all give me some opinions of what you consider "Bluewater" boats, or boats you hear talked about? I want to buy a live a board in the next 5 years and it needs to be capable of crossings. Initially I liked the safety and build of the Island Packets but they leave me uninspired and very expensive. The '70s Ranger 37s I find very attractive but the rudder is small and unprotected. I guess loss of a rudder isn't that bad if you have a sea anchor or such to drag. But I also read that J design is quite tender. There is always the work horse in the charter community Beneteau...Any thoughts on some brands to look at or issues you've heard, had or seen?
    If no comment, no worries and fair winds.

    • @acmeopinionfactory8018
      @acmeopinionfactory8018 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christine C Costs a ton of money to enter and is kind of aimed at people who are not as self reliant as most full time, experienced cruisers like these guys.

    • @RANSailing
      @RANSailing  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yeah, that's good :) The reason for not participating in the ARC is for the cost and because we want to do the crossing ourself.

    I think Shabby is a better name then Chubby. :-)
    Sorry about the loss of Quicky - perhaps he has blown over to Grenada until you get there. :-)

    Scandinavians always seem to go bows-to to a dock. Don't you have a nice boarding platform in the back? :)

      It's hard for us to go stern-to since we have a big wind pilot there which is quite sensitive. So it's easier to go off from the bow :)

      In my local marina here in Norway it is prohibited to go stern in first. To many inexperienced boaters crash into other boats when they try to go stern in.

    Perhaps a drone search at first light would have turned her up.
