- I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK A FEW MONTHS AGO. IT IS A LOW MILEAGE, UNDER CDL, HYDRAULIC BRAKE AUTOMATIC TRUCK. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER TRUCKS THAT I BUILD. THIS ONE WILL LIKELY BECOME A DUMP TRUCK BUT NOT BEFORE A WHOLE PILE OF WORK. I KNEW IT HAD SOME ELECTRICAL DEMONS WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE SELLER WAS LESS THAN FORTH COMING. NOT A BIG DEAL. I KNEW WHAT I WAS BUYING. I NEEDED TO BRING IT FROM ONE OF MY OTHER PROPERTIES TO MY SHOP. I NEED TO REMOVE THE BOX AND LIFT GATE. I HAVE SOLD THE BOX.
Love the Jerry Reed ring tone. Of the finest movies ever made
Thanks for video. I am amazed how calm you always are. The wife does an amazing job. You two are great team.
i was under a very tight time line to get the truck to my shop and remove the box. the buyer had already scheduled the time to pick the box up. added pressure and anger never helps me. its just a truck. if a man can build it, a man can fix it.
@@j.c.smithprojects great point.
Wiring harness problems plague even new vehicles. Sister in law calls me late one night, she driving home and went over a railroad crossing and it all went dead. Engine, lights everything. I get her hood open and start feeling around on the harness connectors and Click!!, apparently the main power loop to all that kept it running was never tight to begin with. I asked her to start it, she did and it did like it never happened. The truck drove reliably for a couple of years till she sold it.
Please know that you and your wife are some of the few people on TH-cam that I consider worth watching. Case in point Mrs JC bakes monster chocolate chip cookies and runs the skid steer(we all get better with practice)Mr JC figured out that the seat was wet and still wore em' dry(no interruptions in content fot vanity, Wardrobe Change!, NOT!) And you may " not be a welder" but you still do admirable job of building it heavy and laying in a lot of good penatrion
I missed you two....it so good to see you again, and to be involved with you working on the trucks. Thank you Mrs and Mr JC
I bought by 1995 international 4700 DT466 in Connecticut. People are so shady out there smh. Anyway, 2 years later got a new title for NY, a new box, radiator ,thermostat, fresh filter and oil change. Might change the water pump soon . Getting it ready to deliver everyday on long island. Very excited this is motivation
Mr Jc thanks for sharing. I know I will learn something. Stay safe
I wish I had someone to teach me . But watching your channel I’m hoping to learn a thing or two. Thanks for taking the time and sharing your knowledge with us . I’m 10 months behind but I’m going back and looking through your International’s so maybe I can figure out what happened to my Bus . Keep the videos coming and thanks again.!
Missed you guys. Love all your videos. No b.s. I have learned a lot from watching you. You are the Dr. House ( from the show) of diagnosis....... Keep them coming.
not really. i just get lucky.
This looks fun !! Waiting patiently for next update. Stay safe 🇬🇧
Great seeing ur guys , love ur work , u and the wife make a great team
Hello JC. This video reminds me of a 69 Dodge Charger I bought where the tail lights were wired to the generator and only worked when the car was being driven. My father and I spent a few nights during the winter time rewriting the dash.
Take care of business. We will join you when you are able.
Be safe and have fun!
Terry from South Carolina
I’ve learned some patience watching your videos, thanks I neededit
Always great to open up the tube.and see a new vid uploaded......thx guys!
you are one of the most loyal viewers we appreciate you and everyone else you watches!
She will make a great dump truck !!
That’s a great fix J.C. I’ve always found it rewarding when fixing electrical problems. Even though it can be a hassle tracing down the single wire causing the problem it’s always satisfying getting things up and running again. Pretty low miles, should make a great work truck for someone👍.
By the way I sent over an email the other day as you requested on the live stream yesterday.
Great video, 👍. Have a great day both of you.
23👍's up JC thanks for taking us all along with you
the great knowledge that you share with us all.
beautiful sound of that Navistar international T444E!
Thanks for the upload:) always learning from what you do.
That'll make a dandy dump truck.
Under 26,000 gvw?
Squirt brakes.
Some landscaper can use that.
Maybe one of those drop side landscaper dumps. 12 foot with low sides.
Would also be cool with a Holmes 1200 Trooper with 60" or 72" ca.
Always loved that size tow truck in short wheelbase.
or a rollback??
@@j.c.smithprojects that too, but I thought I would let the dude that keeps dreaming about getting one mention that.
JS,,,
Saw your service truck still sitting there. Hope you can get to that this year and help you in getting on-site repairs done. All the best from Canada
Thanks for another great video Jc looking forward to the next one!!!
Good to see you back on channel watching here in Australia.
I'm glad the trucks wiring problem isn't too bad 🙂👍 Nice job tracking the issue down J.C! It will make a nice dump truck for sure. Take care 🔧
or.....rollback. that thought hit me last night as i walked by that 19' rollback bed i have that is similar to yours.
@@j.c.smithprojects That would be cool too! :)
from the Netherlands thanks for the video
alwas enjoy your video's, always learning new stuff, greetings from Belgium
Glad your back
Hello J.C. I'd say start with cleaning the plugs going to the ecm...i've seen many of them with corrosion . Sometimes the o-rings shrink enough to allow water to get inside
that is my suspected problem. hopefully i remember to video the process.
I would look for and Clean all Major Grounds and inspect the Plug connectors. I spotted a lot of Rust corrosion on the frame and under hood.
Also be suspect of holes poked in wire harnesses from test lights and in turn the copper wires green.
I worked on those trucks at a IH truck dealer until 1986-2000.
Probably still have the Electrical Diagrams Book for it in the Barn.
Thank-you for the fast forward parts :)
Have seen this before mine was the bulkhead plug was bad and a bad ground in the fuse box, would cause it to cut off and no start, the bad ground will make wild things happen.
i believe the issue to be under the hood. i will try to video the process.
I like watching a man then he no what he doing
As all ways JC love your work and of course your better half input as well Cheers Steve 🍺🍺🍺
You make it look easy
nice nice little dumper
Good evening, my dear friend. I am from Iraq and I work as an international car mechanic. I made a device of my own making to start the engine without a wheel
i have been missing these I usually don't get to see the live ones.
Nice job!
Last night I knew I hadn't seen a jc Smith video in awhile then shortly afterwards I guess you posted now a second one man it's turned into a good video watching night
thanks for your support young man! good to know we have such dedicated and positive viewers!
@@j.c.smithprojects hahaha young not so much over here lol. Definitely like the projects you do. Your always positive outlook and no bs way of working through stuff is informative. You and the wife make a good team. Hope things settle down enough for you to get back to posting on a more regular basis keep running thru the projects!
Nice to see ya back bro
yep, nice work.
Good video
it is one of those moments in life you go what the hell did I do before I got a plasma cutter
Great video, what kind of plasma cutter is that.
The skidloader part is the hard part!👍 question dose the new Yes welder tig aluminum?
i have not had much time to go through all the functions. i will update you when i do.
Matthew Doner Enjoy!
I am.having the same problem when i try to jump the ground the ecm fuse by the battery box and the one under the steering wheel keeps.blowing idk if i am jumping the wrong pin i have a 1996 international t444e 4700
What is the humming noise, I really been working on one and when I turn key on I do not get the humming noise
Exactly how I feel
Bam big daddy jc smith with the quick fix
Did you just karate kick the lift gate with your new balance lawn mowing shoes?
easy tiger! those are sketchers!
@@j.c.smithprojects haha good man
I have a 98 International 7.6, I took off the fuel tank and washed it with water well. I connected the fuel hoses by mistake and gave it air pressure, then I corrected the error. I tried to start the truck. It never started. Can you explain to me the reason?
Great diag where can I get the ecm diagrams?
Is the humming something for the brake ? I've always wondered we had school busses like this....
electric back up for the hydro boost style brakes. if engine isnt running, the electric motor creates hydraulic pressure for power assist.
Yee Haw...!
2-videos in a week, so far...!
Awesome...!
Thank you sir.
Well, gosh darn, it’s kinda hard to edit out wet seat of your pants...
I thinking back to your earlier “live” feed, and you talking about getting old and memory issues, and just figured the wet seat of pants was part of that...
I am 58yrs young, and feel your pain(s)... hahaha...
it is what it is.....no fancy camera work or effects. just real life.....sitting in a puddle of water happens.
@@j.c.smithprojects yessir, and I/we love it...
Thank you
i have a friend who has good dump truck same out side relay problem lost Ground on same relay and yellow start relay glove box relay for start relay , on DT466 on 1997 4900 dump truck ,, out side relay firewall no ground on 97AH wirehas nothing ground -- or + test to wire
Did you figure out your issue? I cab swapped my 99 4700 and I can get it to crank if I bypass starter relay. Just saw your video and confirmed I have no ground at my ecm relay. I’m assuming my issue is likely I didn’t plug something in fully or ground during swap.
found a corroded wire in the engine harness. cut out the damaged section. soldered in a new piece. deox compound and heat shrink. it starts great every time now.
I need you to look at my truck!!
Hello Mrs JC. Nice skid steer operation. JC what type of drying filter do you use on your plasma cutter? Mine keeps blowing the o ring at around 90 psi so need a change.
i have dryers at the end of each hard line. they came from ingersol rand many years ago.
The ground comes from ECM to complete thr circuit
Woah! VOLUME WARNING!! Please don't do this to your subscribers - with respect :)
Question what are doing with all these trucks.
i build them and sell them.
👍
What ever happened to the international with the low oil pressure?
he is taking to a guy that that will do an engine swap cheap.
@@j.c.smithprojects but will he do it right like you would
once it goes somewhere else to be done, it isnt coming back here....
Which pin is the ground on the relay
look at the relay. it has a schematic on it.
@@j.c.smithprojects can the ground pin be jumped with electrical wire ? 1 end in the pin 1 end on nearest ground screw
@@j.c.smithprojects how did you jump the pin the first time
Is that D4700
Could not see at all where you put that welding wire for the ground
in the relay connector
What happened to the project roll off International?
i will pick up on it again in the fall,
I get the same problem
I hate unmonkeying "custom" wiring....couldn't find your tiktok
do you follow me on instagram?
@@j.c.smithprojects i do now
Box truck killer...lol
Seems your gauges ALL DROPPED OUT AS WELL..LOL OH WELL.....
its an international....it isnt a matter of if the gauges drop out, more like how often! if i can remember, i will video the repair on that as well.
Wassup
Hey I'm having that same problem with my tow truck can u please show me the wire you touch to get your truck running I'm lost
Just like bus grease monkey bring the vehicle back to the road conditions so it lives long as not ready got the scrape yard yet and make it more fuel efficiency.
you wont recognize this truck when i am done with it.
Big problem with them trucks
