I'm curious if you recorded, with GPS over 30 minutes? I've heard that the X3 cuts off recording at 29 minutes, saves the file then starts a new file (usually with a 10-15 second gap between clips), but the GPS data resets on the new file instead of carrying over from the previous file. Is this the case?
With the GPS unit attached and linked, the data is encoded into the video. If I remember correctly, I just do each video clip and then attach them together. I would have to check the max length of a file with the GPS connected to the X3, but never had an issue. I have more sync issues (occasionally) with the remote sometimes than I do with processing the data. Easier than when we tried with the Gopro.
@@TheBeatenTrailI tried it this morning, a 40 minute ride. I ended up with 2 clips, one was 29:01 the second was 11:00. The GPS was running for both of them, and in the 2nd clip, the GPS data was reset as if that 2nd clip was a separate trip, tracking stats not from where it left off in the previous clip, but as if that 2nd was my origin point until the end. As far as I can tell, at least in the desktop 360 app, there is no way to combine them into a single clip, with the stats correct all the way through.
I have a few editing boxes, one for home 4k editing: AMD Ryzen 9, 64G ram, Nvidia p9000 (24G GPU), my mobile editor is a Lenovo p1 i7 16Gb with a 4Gb GPU, and currently 100Tb of Nas storage across multiple locations. Whew. Just get a decent 15-17" gaming laptop with at least a 2080 8Gb ram or higher. Just 4K editing might require a bit more than any laptop can handle, but YMMV.
@@TheBeatenTrail I wonder if you edited in Insta360 Studio? or Mobile? I don't seem to find the template to add GPS tracking information in Insta360 Studio. Any Idea?
I am using Windows PC which I don't see stats menu with the latest version. Are you using the Insta360 studio from Mac? or IOS? I do see stat menu in Android but I can't use the android for 3.5hrs long video for editing as the usb reader doesn't have charging feature.
@@seungweon You need to have the GPS remote connected when recording. Only video with the embedded gps controller data will allow you to put it on the screen. I am using windows 11 and the insta360 app. Latest version.
What is your favorite action camera model you use on the trail and why?
Thank you for sharing

Thank you too
Do you know if you can mark a hightlight using the remote?
Dont think it does. Checking docs: www.insta360.com/support/supportcourse?post_id=10941#
