Explore Creating Scrap Sculptures In Fused Glass

When making fused glass, you tend to have a lot of cut off scraps that are still very valuable! It is always worthwhile to find ways to create a work of art with every piece available!
In this video, I go through the design process, which ended up being a 2 step since I wasn't completely satisfied with the 1st firing. And there may be more done to this one - I do like it as it is now, but I can see myself wanting to add more design "bling".
I had requests on how to make the steel shape - I couldn't find the video I had seen years back, so I made one :)

That's a thought... it's been way too cold to get into the studio for more than an hour or 2 so I'm working a commission and staring at this for inspiration 😆

I find that if I step away sometimes it looks better in a couple days. At first I usually see all the faults and not the beauty. I personally like the project.

I agree. There is something not quite right about it. Perhaps the design wheel lines are too busy, and take up too much of the shape? I loved the plain circle against the busy scrap area. Maybe if the wheel had been less busy, much smaller, and perhaps off set from the centre? The fused multiple coloured glass is very effective, as is the shape. Very bird like. Thank you

You got that right!!! I love the "no bubble" and yes... I'm getting through the scrap pile! I am going to try some mosaic but I'm not going to use my fusible glass for that 😉

I would like to learn how to make a steel band mold. Specifically oval or boat shaped. Couldnt find it on Glass with a past. Can you provide a link to the process?
