      Yes well if I got this right in 1987 was the year of a size switching over from AMC to Chrysler my Jeep still hasn't AMC Parts in it I guess they believe me to a little bit of a simpler time but if you ever want to see what my Jeep looks like or sounds like you can go to Instagram and see if they are the name of my pages keb.nash.9

      yeah I bought in 2003 when I graduated and you know I drove it for sometime before fixing the transfer case and then I meant for many years with no problems with minor repairs and then you just showed me that was being really reliable so I decided to stop modifying it and I haven't stopped since more like modifying and restoring it he still has the original paint never been painted but just check out Instagram scroll down quite a bit and you'll find the sweet exhaustible radio light bar custom put in a lot of things I did myself set for the radio my friend help me out with that

    Like many others I too have started an XJ project. Lots of work but it's been enjoyable so far. Have fun on your project!

      Thank you! I got this one with that in mind, to basically make whatever I fell like out of it and keep improving as time allows.

    See that's another thing I don't understand my jeep has a metal fuelnow plants won't be awesome but what I like about mine is I can take my fuel pickup and fuel pump out without dropping the tank its face in the axial so it's easy access

    What did you do to fix/replace the fuel tank strap bolt? They are way to expensive from Jeep. Luv your channel...

      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Ended up buying one of ebay for little bit cheaper. Everywhere else its an arm and a leg for just the J bolt.

    Sounds like you'll need a new water pump. My 1998 made the same squealing noise.

      The parts list just keeps growing. But should be a rig once all said and done.

    I have a 1987 Jeep Cherokee and I don't know why they made the tailgates metal and then or ones but mine's fiberglass they did that up until 94 then they switch over to a metal tailgate why I don't know

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they did, it isn't uncommon to see the fiber glass hatch of older Cherokees cracked around the window and edges. From 1984 to 1996, the Cherokee’s rear hatch was comprised of fiberglass. In 1997, Jeep switched over to using steel to correct that issue and update the design aswell.

      You can call me old-school I sort of like the first Jeep Cherokees the square ones you don't mind the 1987 when I bought it back in 2003 I paid $300 for it there was a reason for that it ran and drove but the transfer case was damaged I change it out that was another $400 to the bill what was it so bad but ever since then nothing has gave me a problem it's still got the original Engine with almost 200,000 miles on it the fiberglass hats is perfectly fine no cracks no nothing I put it new air shocks in it so it was up nice and easy like it's supposed to I definitely like to push button over the handle they put in the newer ones it's been lifted 3 and 1/2 inch riding on 31's now and it's got a LED light bar built in the front bumper LED headlights and I also I also like the idea to change out my fuel pump on the side of the road I don't know why they did away with that I'm assuming it was too easy for the newer Jeeps so they had to made tougher and put the fuel tank pump on top

    • @4x4rcoff-roadtractors54
      @4x4rcoff-roadtractors54 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what people were doing to the Jeep Cherokee to get the tailgate the crack up like hell and all the ones I seen around here they never had any cracks in their hatches really weird

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@4x4rcoff-roadtractors54 they definetly don't build them like they use to. Seems after little while they had to complicate it somehow to charge extra for labor 😂
      While they did fix the cooling in 91 and added some features, it was still a solid truck.
      But then after 97 face lift it seems to have gone a bit downhill. Electrical is finicky, pump is in the tank, weak flex plates and etc.
      I seen hatches getting cracked from hitting trees on trails. Never really seen one fail on its own from regular use otherwise, unless it sat in direct scorching heat and weathered for years.

      @@4x4rcoff-roadtractors54 sounds like youve got it set up where you like it.
      Since I've picked up the blue one, and it has most of the stuff I wanted in a overland set up, I'm thinking the red one needs to be caged, swap an ls in to it, with baja lift set up and hit up some events if the wallet permits at that point lol. Stuffs expensive. But I've always wanted to participate in one of those races.

    i don’t know if anyone else noticed how this has the dana 35 in a 98, unless i didn’t fully see it correct. surprised it’s not the 8.25

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right, its a dana 35 with Trac Lock. idk how good it'll be for offroad use or if the clutch packs still hold. Something to look in to once I'm done with body work.

    • @buddy977905
      @buddy977905 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 98s still came with 35s and c 8.25 and tracloc for both versions wish I could get my hands on a 8.25 tracloc

    • @rcshenanigans8886
      @rcshenanigans8886 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Dana 35 with 35 inch tires is a ticking time bomb lol, I would swap it with an 8.25 or 8.8 rear end for big tires🤪

    318 swap in near future lolz

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am thinking of a swap. Always dreamed of having an LS with big turbo, impractical for the off road, but would be fun and scary as hell on the road lol.
