When I pulled the interior out of my XJ, I pre-soaked everything (I could find) with PB Blaster, also ran it through a car wash that washes the bottom of you car, so things underneath were pretty clean before I started the tear down. My Kobalt cordless 1/2" impact has 650 lb ft of torque, so the seat belt bolts gave very little resistance. Check out the project when you get the chance... God bless.
That's one of the first things I did when I got my XJ, strip out the nasty carpet. We have the same color interior but your floor and metal work is in great shape.
Yeah, I'm in middle of deciding if I want to reuse the headliner. It's just smells moldy, will try to clean it and maybe treat it aswell, before reupholstering. It was a definetly a nice surprise, when I saw the floor pans were in such great shape. Save me the $$ for more fun stuff to put in it. I've already got a 10th aniversary style hood for it, guy out in california custom made it. Gotta make a video to share about it.
Hi! Great video, thanks for sharing. I have a 1998 XJ that i am very happy with, however, my previous car was a 2019 Wrangler (yes i went from a super new jeep to a very old one for financial reasons ...) The XJ is extremely noisy, it's the only thing I hate about the car. I have a large family and it's very annoying for them the loud noise. I would like to take all interiors apart and add a bunch of sound deadening materials in every piece of metal i can see. My problem is i don't have the space to work on. How long do you think it will take me to complete the entire project? 2 full days of work? Thanks 👍
Not really, I'll be putting allot of it back in, after a through clean up. Weather here in Oregon, has not been most pleasant to do anything outside. Will be buying different seats for the front and using the sliders of the old ones.
That's close to what I'm thinking. I've done that to a previous Jeep, results were not great and it's a messy process. I used a sound deadening mats instead, kinda like Dynomat but a cheaper version. Definitely made a difference in noise level on noisy 33's while on freeway.

That carpet can be saved. Mean Green/409 type cleaner with a good scrub brush then pressure wash, it will do a good job...
I will give it a try, thanks for the tip.
Great video and fun watching this project. Looking forward to more on this vehicle. One thing though, the music is about 5x louder than the dialogue.
thank you, sorry about that, I will work on leveling the music to seech transition in next ones.
