Good job. Save a lot doing yourself. I don't lubricant the oil filter because there's already oil on the spot. If you are doing for the first time then yes better lubricant the oil filter.
Good job. If it was mine and I was using that Ultra Synthetic oil filter, I would leave the filter in for 10,000 miles even if I continued to change the oil every 5,000.
Hi Steven. Thanks for the comment. I went back and looked at the specifications for this filter and it is rated at 20,000 miles. Most folks on Amazon commented they replace this filter every 10,000 miles, the same as you, so I'll do the same. This was my first oil change since switching from synthetic blend to fully synthetic 6 months ago. So it was probably wise to make my first fully synthetic / Fram Ultra Synthetic filter after 5,000 miles since there was still some conventional oil left in the engine after my switch.
It"s more than $100. here ( Berkeley Ca) at most mechanics. Just got a 2005 with 106 mi. and will be changing my own. Thanks
