My 11yo son has been very interested in boxing for a few months not. Problem is where I’m from the few boxing gyms here charge an arm and a leg. So I’ve been training my son for the last 2-3months. I can’t even begin to tell you how much research I’ve done to make sure that I’m training him the correct way. I’ve probably watched hundreds of videos to help me help him. Like your vids man. I will be watching all of yours. Thanks man.
That's great bro. So you're not even a boxer and/or trainer yourself (or werent) but are learning just for him? At 11? Yep, Great. 🙂 Good Fathers are sooooo important, for the kids and future adults, society, everything. Alot of our messed up society probably won't give you any credit for it and be against you and Family at every turn even but, screw them, you deserve it and wee sure need more like you.
It is important to get them in a gym. Try to call around in the winter. Rates may be cheaper. A lot of big gyms are cash grabs. Look for small boxing clubs
I've never boxed but my daughter was put into a situation last week where 5 girls told her she was either fighting one girl or they were going to jump her. After seeing a video of the fight I realized she needs to learn to throw punches. These videos will help us out a lot. Thanks, and I subscribed.
I had a similar situation with my 15 year old daughter so I put her MMA classes and when she’s not in class we at home watching dungeon videos and sparring together father and daughter I love every minute of it ❤❤❤❤
Perfect tutorial, boxed when I was younger now trying to take a couple friends who want to drop some weight so I was looking to incorporate the mitts , great work once you get in a rhythm but also it's fun as hell for both people
My son and I are obsessed with watching this video and then practicing real time. I didn't know what I was doing and he just wanted to swing, but with practice and your video its pretty impressive to see the growth!!! Amazing, hats off to you and Christian...-Alex and Aaron
My son just started boxing and I want to be able to help him and strengthen our relationship. I came across your video and wanted to let you know that you are a great teach and coach. Thank you for your time and the video!
Thanks brother, I use to do a lot of backyard "boxing" back as a preteen and teen with my buddies lol I'm 31 now and have always had a bag at the house. Started polishing up my skills about 2 years ago with my nephew who had never worked out or had been punched in the face. We both have learned so much but mit work is something we're barely going to incorporate. Thanks for the great video.
Cruz and Cristian, thank you for developing this content. I am 52 years old retired Smokejumper. I have always respected and been intrigued by the art and science of boxing. I’ve never done it so my wife and I are going to take the lessons here from you. I greatly appreciated an athlete/tactician and coach like yourself who take time out of their busy day and family life to share their knowledge. Thanks again we are excited to learn!!
Thank you so much, fathers, for teaching your daughters to defend themselves, to have self-confidence, and for giving them the tools to move like they are not to be messed with. When I was growing up, there was too much emphasis on being "ladylike" and almost no way for girls to learn to defend themselves.
That was pretty good for a beginner. I never knew why you had to catch the punch I just seen mitt holders do it so I just shadowed it from TH-cam. Now I know why! Great video and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.
1. placement face height, and close 2. slightly catch punches 3. fighter turn hips, fully extend punches, put shoulder in jab 4. fighter move head, turn hips, crossing legs, stumbling footwork 5. move around so they have to come to you, side to side, back to front 6. work on individual punches 7. 12,123,232,632,632,1,11,63,232
I use to be in boxing when I was 15 years old and I’m 23 now and I’m getting mitts to train my little neice. She is 9 years old and was getting bullied at school. I’m not training her to go back to school and fight, but I’m training her so she KNOWS how to fight. Plus she wants to get in boxing anyway so this would be a good start for her before actually joining a gym 😎👍🏽
Just like Heathcliff, I’m trying to work with my kids to give them basic self defense techniques and conditioning. I learned the basic punches on a heavy bag but I can’t put one in my house so I want to use mitts, which I never done before. I was actually going to purchase coaching training videos and certification classes but this is basically what I needed. The basic punches 1-2-3 and the uppercuts can go a long way for basic self defense and conditioning. Thanks for the demonstration. Now it’s time to go to work!
Greqt job teschin buddy, i am peruvian and i understood all your clear and correct english!! I bet tu hablas español tambien. Good luck. I am a new suscriber! 🇵🇪
Thanks, we from the UK trying they fitter as an older lady and was doing it all wrong with hubby. Now we know what we doing I'm sure we'll have fun. It's good therapy I know that much 😱👍🤗
I think it would be very beneficial. I actually stopped taking on football players because I was getting flooded with them during the off season then they would all disappear once football started lol.
he is strong but he telegraphs those punches so much. He can watch his self on videos and fix this when he didnt already. he need to be more relaxed and not so tensed and have to punch without hesitating from a to b . great video thanks.
Greta video man, i have a quick question tho. My trainer told me that when using mitts i should keep my elbows close to my body when using mitts so that i don't injure my elbows/shoulders. In this video you keep your elbows kinda far away from your body which looks like more of a Muay Thai guard instead of a boxing one. Do you think it's because he wants me to create a habit of a boxing guard since i'm transitioning from Muay Thai to Boxing? or there's just different ways to hold the mitts and you gotta use the one you're most comfortable with?
@@dungeonboxingclub I boxed all my life brother and found that out as I became a coach. Ouch 😆, blessings to you brother your gym is bad ass and your skill is off the charts.
I was always taught you don’t put your shoulder in a jab because it slows you down though, that you gotta make sure your pivoting your feet and stepping with the jab, when you twist your body itself is your power, unless you have really good endurance you’ll wear out easy by throwing that shoulder in there, and then you can’t shoulder roll a counter if you have to. I’m not saying anything is wrong because I agree with everything in this informational video, but I was just taught different as a fighter.
I think we may be talking about the same thing, by turning the body into the punch you are putting the shoulder into it. It's probably just the way I worded it.
Hey just seen your video I like it I do want to work this with my son as well but I ask is it good for him to wrap his hand so he will not hurt his wrist.. n when he makes contact with your hand while ur on the mitt do u have it relaxe or kind ready for impact ..

Great video Cruz. I have a question, as a new Boxer should I focus more on Pads or Bag work?

thank you for the video. Any idea on how much boxing would carry over in (football) offensive line pass blocking.
I think it would be very beneficial. I actually stopped taking on football players because I was getting flooded with them during the off season then they would all disappear once football started lol.

Yea it's different for everyone, I have wide shoulders so my elbows naturally hang away from my body. Do what feels best for you. Thanks for watching!

My 8yr old son just joined a month ago, I need these mitts to help him better his accuracy
