At my age, arthritis is like a separate entity so......my arthritis and I LOVE this machine. I use it only for cutting out images I've printed from digital scrapbooking kits or images I've stamped...so I have no need to hook it to a computer. The "direct cut" feature is easy to learn and use.
I wanted this machine precisely because I would not have to hook up to a computer! I'm happy with all the designs IN the machine, and I have drawings stored in there, even, so when I need more Spirelli shapes cut, or embroidery floss bobbins, etc. Plus I love the direct cut feature.
Agreed! I have terrible arthritis in hands and elbows so purchased the sdx85 because fussy cutting is difficult and love i can scan one image and copy several times to cut them out so i dont have to cranking through my manual die cutting machine several times.
Thanks Lindsay! There have been a lot of stamp sets I wanted but either didn't want to pay the price for the matching die or there wasn't one available. My hands cramp really badly when I try to fussy cut AND I stink at it. So...by today I should be the proud owner of the Scan n Cut! I purchased a Cricut about three years ago. I made the sample card that came with the machine, put it in the box and it has been taken out exactly one time after that to go to a class offered locally by one of the big box stores. They gave us a material list and I had to go to three different stores to get everything. Your Cricut and a laptop were required for the class so I schlepped all that out to the store. There were about 12 people in the class and as we started to unpack our stuff at our tables, the instructor told us not to, we didn't need them because she was going to just display everything and walk through how to use Design Space....on a 15" monitor. If I had paid full price I would have demanded my money back. I spend 9-10 hours a day in front of a computer screen for work and I just do not have the patience or desire right now to self-teach myself how to use the doggone application. I'm excited to get my new Brother to do the things I really wanted to do!
You will love the ScanNCut!! I like taking a die shape, scanning it, and resizing it. I can imagine the frustration you had with the class and the need for a laptop, Design space, etc. I told my sister in law that I had no interest in the Silomhouette or Cricut, because I get really frustrated with computers. I wanted no part of it, and was loving my hand crank Cuttlebug. I still use my Cuttlebug more, but I also love my SnC. I have scanned a pattern I to it, resized the objects, and cut out parts for baby quilts, and wall hanging. I fused my fabric to wonder under, and it worked fine.😊 I prefer to use my budget for dies on shapes I don't have stamps for, and what I can find more than one use for.
I have one of these. I've had it several years, and I have had so much trouble learning how to use it. I am glad you did this video! I've wanted to get rid of it because I just end up furious with the dumb thing! You might have saved my machine from being drop kicked out the door!
Hi Kimberly -- have you ever viewed YT videos from PAPERED CHEF -- she is a Stampin' Up demonstrator and frequently does videos on SnC -- tips, tricks, techniques, troubleshooting, etc. Also does several live videos so you can ask questions as you watch -- she knows her stuff and has helped me learn a lot/better understand my machine. -- Mary.
Jen Blausey Scan n cut is the QUEEN OF THIS MACHINE. TH-cam her older videos, 5 yrs ago or more She has a step by step, awesome. There is a learning curve but you just gotta jump in a do it. She will give you tips and tricks. In depth EASY directions.
I watched one of your SNC tutorials four years ago, bought one and have loved it ever since! Another great TH-cam channel The Papered Chef has great SNC tutorials for us card makers.
WOW! First let me say that you did NOT over-explain, you were perfect! For the first time, I actually understand how it works. Many years ago, before Scan 'n Cut existed, I bought an electric cutter thinking I could scan and cut. NOPE, it turned out you had to scan your image, open the program to see if the vector image had all it's lines or else edit the victor image. I could talk a long time about how amazingly difficult the process was--if you were not proficient in graphic design, you were done. ANYWAY, thank you so much for this wonderful video and I will be buying a Brother Scan 'n Cut. By the way, if folks don't know this, Brother has amazing video tutorials on how to operate each piece of equipment they sell (in my case, it was a sewing machine that did a bazillion stitches); they are a good, solid company!
Barb, I watched this video and just bought one from the company for less than some others are advertising as sales,,, your comments about the machine were appreciated
@@luannfischer747 Thank you for this information! I intended to buy mine before now but decided to wait and see if it fell into the Black Friday Sales category, but it didn't so now it's on my radar for mid December. I have my eye on one through Amazon--it's bundled with several extras, all of which I'd use--3 standard tack mats, 3 low tack mats, 6 replacement blades. I checked the prices of those things and with this bundled sale, it will save me over $100. Hopefully I won't regret buying it from the Amazon source rather than direct from Brother. And through Amazon I won't have to pay for shipping. Again, thank you for your comment!
Thanks Lindsay. Great tips. I like that you don't need a computer. I always tell people just hit buttons and see what happens when playing with tech. Haven't broken anything yet. It's amazing how it sounds just like an old brother typewriter I owned that also had a drawing function. I loved that thing, lol. Happy Sunday.
This is perfect, Lindsay - THANK YOU!!!! I've been trying to decide for years if I want an electronic cutting machine, and then if it would be a Cricut type or Scan-n-Cut. This helps show it's the SnC that would be better for my needs. It would be a complement to my dies, rather than an instead-of option. I prefer the more "finished" edges of die cuts, but I have SO many stamps that don't have dies that I'd love to cut out and I HATE fussy cutting. This would be perfect!! Thanks again!
I have had a scan n cut for about three years. I am embarrassed to say that I have only used it a handful of times. The very first time I used it, I pressed my paper down, put it thru the machine and the paper was completely stuck and when I pulled up it tore and stuck and was a huge mess. This was quite depressing for my first time and may have contributed to my being leery of using it very often. I have watched many scan n cut tutorials and some are helpful, some are too complicated for me. You are totally right about getting it out and using it. I can’t believe all the cool things I could have cut by now. You mentioned over explaining,,,I find that is what I NEED. It helps me not be so nervous about doing it myself. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Another idea is to turn your mat upside down so you are “removing the mat from the paper”. Then with one hand you lift up the mat, and put your other hand on the paper between the mat and the paper, to gently coax it off the mat.
Great tutorial!! I just bought a Brother CM650W at our local crafty thrift store. Barely used, for $150.00. One of the crafters who bought one, but barely took it out of the box, I am sure. Then it was donated to the craft thrift store, The Legacy in Sebastopol CA. I just got it out to play and knew I could find a video from you for a tutorial!! Thanks! have so many stamps with out dies, my $150.00 was well spent!
I can’t thank you enough for doing this video and making it very “okay” to just use it for die cutting. I have had mine less than a year and have struggled with all the information out there. Overwhelmed is understating it! I have the SDX125 because it adjusts for thickness and is suppose to be quieter. I was/am bound and determined to ‘not’ have my Scan ‘n Cut not be a paper weight.
Go watch the tutorials from Balzaar designs. Also download their detailed user manual. I own one myself, the same as yours. I watched all the videos for my machine first before I went to buy it. While it mostly does everything automatically I do find times when I have to tweak some settings.
The auto settings are only for the blade depth. Pressure and speed should be changed depending on the detail of your image or the density of your card/material etc. (Sdx machines only.)
I have the same model as you and it's the BEST thing I have bought for my craft room. There is a bit of a learning curve, but man, once you get the hang of it, it's super easy. It really has saved me so much money.
Thank you for sharing, what a great video. I too have a Brother Scan n Cut and love it. Everything you said is absolutely correct, if you don’t have it out you won’t use it. I bought mine primarily for cutting fabric for embroidery and sewing, but have used it more for paper crafts when homeschooling my grandkids. My sister just used it for a heat vinyl transfer and it worked beautifully. I love my Scan and Cut. Thank you again for sharing.
Omg. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I bought a scan and cut a few years ago. I have never used it! Thanks to you I will take it out of the closet and give it a try.
Thank you for going over how you use this machine. My daughter surprised me with this for Christmas a year ago and I have not used it very often. I do have it out and you have inspired me to use it today! I am going to use it to cut our digital butterflies for my journals. Blessings.
I have the same model. I felt it had a big learning curve but in reality I needed to play with it! It's pretty easy now. Thanks for the excellent video Lindsay. Also great tip about leaving it out too.
Thank you for information on Scan n Cut machine - I have been looking into one. Yes having your equipment out - gets use of it . Your explanation was very clear. You definitely can explain it well since you have had it for 5 yrs. and use it weekly. 🌵🦋💖
Thank YOU LINDSAY!!!! I am just coming back to use my ScanNCut2 and wanted to learn how to cut out my self made digitals, with stamps, ink and watercolors and found you! I haven't use it is several years and have forgotten much. Thanks to you my brain was able to absorb your words and I can now use mine and will be using it probably every day or for sure several days each week. I loved it when I was using it and now am every so grateful to have it for they are so very expensive. I wish you and your family Happy Holidays and may your New Year 2024 be a very good year for all of you. Hugs, Joey👍🐦✂
Great video. If you have a splat box that you keep handy, a light spritz of a repositional spray like aleen's tacky spray on the back of your images solves the problem of things not sticking, using tape, etc. Especially if you have a few images on small pieces of cardstock to cut out, you don't have to tape them all. I love what you did about not buying dies. I still buy dies of course, but ones that only cut out the stamped images, & shape nesting dies I no longer but. The machine absolutely pays for itself! & it can do so much more. I know folks who have sold other machines because they no longer need them. I love mine so much & a great thing you said is
I bought a Scan N Cut two weeks ago based on your recommendations. I love this machine! I am not good at fussy cutting so this was the perfect machine for me.
Thank you very grateful to you. I will use my machine today first time. Because I am scared of doing new machines on my own. But I'm never on my own with you about and I appreciate your support many thanks Love bernadette xox ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ok, I watched the video and I am going to get it. I have nerve damage in my hands and arms so using scissors hurts. I like the idea of saving money and helping my hands. Thanks for showing the process. It really is pretty easy.
Oh, dearest Lindsey! You make me feel so much better about myself & my scan & cut! Ha! I bought mine online at a steal, put it on my crafting table, and left it there. Now, it sits tucked away in a cabinet! 😱 To be honest, I just didn’t/don’t know what to do with it. Now, I’m hoping I’ll soon find both the time, and the energy, to proceed, since you’ve made it look so simple! 😃 Thank you so much for all the wonderful things you share with us! I truly doubt that you could have any idea just what a tremendous gift you are! God bless you, and your precious loved ones! Jacqui ❤️ PS, anymore hints would be greatly appreciated! 😉😊
I am so thankful this came up, I’ve been looking at the Cricut and Silhouettes and I just want to take the Digitals I’ve printed and get them cut out without needing to use my computer or printer. THANKS, very informative video, as usual! 🥰
@@thefrugalcrafter you really should be getting a little $$ from the Brother Company! I just ordered one, based mostly on the ease of use you showed and I looked for reviews, asked for the lowest rated one,,, one, only one on Best Buy at a 3, then 4 or more for the rest. Thanks again, you have just saved my right hand from future fatigue! lol. I can hardly wait now for it to get here,,, 😊😊😊😊
I didn't know t hat you had a scan n cut machine. I bought it last year for making my cards and for quilting. I have not been able to use it yet . I am a pet groomer and I do boarding. I've got another year to continue with my business before I can go hog wild to buy the other quilting machines and tools ect . so I do love watching your videos on the cards . now I will also watch these videos with the scan n cut along with b your art videos. thank you so much for your videos. I am Joanne in price utah
Yes do! I recommend you open it up as soon as you get it because if anything is wrong with it you will know while it's in warranty. Also the longer you go without using is the less likely you will use it. There are studies behind that!
@@thefrugalcrafter I did a couple of practice things and it cut out well. I just need to get more stamps. I bought the big things first. Most of my stamps are wood mounted from 20 years ago
The best piece of advice here is to leave it out. I have one I bought 5 years ago. I used it when I first got it, then I put it away so my craft room wouldn’t look cluttered. I feel overwhelmed in a cluttered space. So now, I haven’t used it in years. I need to find a spot for it!!
I was having the same issue so I moved mine onto a small wooden TV tray that I can store against the wall out of the way when not in use. When I’m ready to cut, I slide out the tray and pull up my chair. I find I use it more because I don’t have to do all the setup and the TV tray is the perfect height.
I'm not even understanding the technology but I'd like one...lol I have the first generation circut cutter I still use it it has to be atleast 15 yrs old Maybe olderI think...I wonder if anyone still uses theirs like I use mine????
I bought a Scan n Cut last year at a good price and then got scared to use it. In the last week though, I have found my brace and used it heaps! I made sticky sea creatures for a large mural for our ladies coffee night and 12 x 12 ‘poster puzzles’ for kids church. I’ve made a heap of labels for gifts and also a stack of leaves for a Family Day project. I’ve now taught my 11 year old granddaughter how to use it too. Lindsay, you should have a go at using the Canvas workspace on your computer too. It’s so much easier when you want to make multiples of a shape. Select a shape, choose the size and hit ‘fill space.’ Bingo, nine hearts appear! (The only thing was, when I exported to my machine, it only cut out 6, even though it showed 9 on the screen?)
I have an old die cutter I hook to my laptop for that sort of thing. I use Scal2 software as I am very familiar with it cm and can wirk fast and I can avoid wear and tear on my scan n cut and consumables that way. My other cutter can use cheap generic Roland blades and takes longer mats for big projects. Thats one of the reason I only use this for scanning and cutting 😆 and I have absolutely no intrest in learning any new software unless I absolutely have to. I spent way too much time on a computer as it is 😆
Hi Jennifer -- have you ever viewed YT videos from PAPERED CHEF -- she is a Stampin' Up demonstrator and frequently does videos on SnC -- tips, tricks, techniques, troubleshooting, etc. Also does several live videos so you can ask questions as you watch -- she knows her stuff and has helped me learn a lot/better understand my machine. Hope your machine is back to full useability soon.
All I can say is YOU ARE RIGHT…..I do like my scan n cut and use it pretty much like you do, I have had trouble with the stickiness of the mat and the new ones are expensive. I have not tried the reusable adhesive, that was a great reminder. I like the way you can set the margin on the cut, I am a pretty good fussy cutter, but have trouble getting that margin even around the item when I am hand cutting, but this machine does it perfectly. Also easy to make shadows for you dies by increasing the margin. Thanks for your common sense ideas.
Love my Scan n cut! I use blue painters tape (washi would work too) to make sure things don't shift in cutting. The lower tack is easier on the mats and less chance of damage if you are using the part not being cut. I have mine on a drop leaf cart from Michaels. It is the perfect size and I can swing out the leaves when cutting, then drop them back to take up less room when not in use.
I've been waiting for this video for a long time. I knew you had one and asked questions about it but wanted to see it in action. Will watch in a bit. Thanks for this video.
Wow! Thank you so much Lindsay, this is the first time I’ve seen anyone explain the scan n cut machine that has made me want to use mine. I have honestly had my machine for 6 years, I’ve used it twice, why? Because it scared the bejesus out of me! Tomorrow, thanks to you, I’m getting it out & I’m going to play. Have a great weekend everyone 😍
I am a little late finding this video but enjoyed watching it. If you ever want to learn more about your machine there are lots of video's showing you how to do a lot more. My machine is older then yours but works the same. I don't like any of the newest machines because I like it for the cutting. Thank You for the information.
Lindsay, Awesome as always. I just got the Scan N Cut DX (SDX85). I have arthritis, like L. Whitaker, and I absolutely avoid any craft that involves fussy cutting! Thank you for the simple tutorial.
I think I can do this with my Cricut Maker, upload images then print & cut. More steps but save me the trauma of learning how to use another tech product. Cricut help has a red flag by my name! Darn, I have wasted so much money on dies, thank you for this awakening.
Your scan and cut got me the die cut machine bug years ago and I finally FINALLY got a Cricut Maker3 and I am THRILLED! I cannot wait to get my printer refilled for Print&Cut features ! My cardmaking and general crafting has seriously stepped up with this fantastic machine ! Thanks for inspiring me to take a chance and investing in myself it was so worth it already !!
I needed some storage for papers and odds n ends so I bought a set of those plastic drawers...ah, rolling carts. I'll stick the link in. It has a double set of drawers so the aluminum/metal top on it is wide enough for my scan n cut to fit nicely. I just keep the plastic bag it come in over the top like your cover sits on it...keeps it nice and clean. The only hassle I have had is that sometimes my sheet wants to pop off if the mat flexes since, like yours, mine isn't on a table with a flat surface in front of it. Your taping suggestion is the perfect solution for that. That is a tip I'll be using from now on. I keep all of my cords and thumb drive for saved items right in the top drawer of the cart so everything is right at hand. I need to get it out soon to cut out some tags and labels that I've printed out for junk journals. Straight cuts are easier with scissors, but when the tags have scalloped tops or labels are baroque style...I suck at curves when cutting...just do Scan n cut to the rescue. I did NOT pay what they are asking for this cart now. Thank goodness it was at a much lower price when I needed it. smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YBRR1FB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That was super helpful, Lindsay! I bought (for very cheap) a used Cricut from a friend... not knowing exactly what I was getting. It was a couple of "generations" old, I had no idea what the limitations would be on it. Never occurred to me that I couldn't connect it to my computer or do the sort of thing you just did on the Scan and Cut. Such a waste sitting on my counter, now. This machine is doing what I'd hoped I could do, for my business packaging. It's going on my wish list!
The only reason I still have my ancient cricut is because I have SCAL software which lets me cut fonts and anything I design. Cricut sued the makers of SCAL and similar software and these small companies just removed cricut compatibility because they didn't have the money to fight it in court. That was the last straw for me with Cricut.
I love my scan n cut for cutting out stamps. But I also make scrapbooks, and most designer paper packs (Stamperia, Ciao Bella for example) have an ephemera sheet that I absolutely hate cutting up. But I can just scan the page and cut it out perfectly. There are a few that are a little more difficult to get scanned (i.e, if there is a background behind the individual images), but it doesn’t take much work to get it to cut correctly. Great video!
I have the same model and it works like a champ. I also use it to cut masks for stamping. I just stick the masking paper to a scrap paper and cut it out. Perfectly cut masks.
I’m glad you posted this video. I’m declaring this coming year or sooner as getting familiar with mine that I bought 2 years ago. I got intimidated. I can keep mine out. I’ll look for a cover for it too. I’m not a sewer at all.
THANK YOU LINDSAY! I've had one of these for a few years. I tried it when I bought it just to make sure it worked, but haven't used it since. I do have it out, but since I know there is a learning curve, I keep putting off working with it. Instead, I think I'll try to work with it when I have more time. Your tutorial has made me realize i't's now or never and I will definitely start using it ASAP. Thanks again, you have inspired me.
Great video. I have the same model. I cut around my stamped images also. I make many paper projects. I love the Scan n Cut! Thanks for all of your videos. Love them.
Thanks so much for making this video. I just shared it to facebook as so many of my friends are interested in Cricuts but I feel they would get more out of the BSNC instead! I bought my machine after seeing you use yours! I don't have mine plugged in all the time but it is out on a desk and all I have to do is insert the plug into the back of it and pull it out to use it (I leave the power adapter plugged in nearby). Maybe you can do more short tips clips for TH-cam when you're using your machine on a regular basis (like adjusting how much border you want around your edges). I use mine to cut a lot of heat transfer vinyl and make tons of t-shirts and other stuff in addition to cutting out my stamped images. I also love that I can enlarge my stamped image via pdf to my computer, print the larger image, color it and have the BSNC cut that size (which the matching die wouldn't be able to do!). ;-) To add to why you love your machine over a cricut, here are some of my thoughts too - it actually has a screen on the machine so you don't need the computer each time; it has a USB that you can bring cut files over to your SNC from your computer; the software is free - cricut has some monthly fees.
I have one and use it on occasion probably as much as I should …..I like the dies because I take stuff to our summer place where we go by boat so it is much easier to pack dies than the entire machine………heavy for us to carry up our very long dock at my age
Hey, I love my Scan N Cut! I agree you have to just get in and use it! I waited for a sale. I wanted to have another option except purchasing dies and I also wanted to do original designs. I have made quite a few paper projects, and I even cut a gasket for my husband’s weed wacker motor! I love the idea of designing your own designs and cutting multiples in just a few minutes.
I’m U.K. based so we have different models. I had the CM350 but this year I upgraded to the SDX1200. I am comfortable with the basics and connect mine to the computer with WI-FI so I was watching this to re-affirm my knowledge rather than learn something. But straight away at the beginning I realised I have always lined my page up with the top left corner and never thought to use the middle. I also only thought of taping down when the mat was struggling, it makes so much sense to tape all along. The SDX models are much quieter.
Wow, that’s a cool bit of kit! I have seen cricut offers and thought it was a knitting machine. Not for me but the advice about having easy access is spot on. Thanks for educating me.
Thanks, Lindsay! I’ve been on the fence for some time now, about buying one. You may have just pushed me over the edge, well let’s say you’ve given me a nudge in the direction to purchase one ;D
I just bought the DX85 on Black Friday sale for about the same $250 price, on QVC. I saw the same exact model and color on HSN for $4-500. I’ve wanted one for years. I just received it today so I was glad I saw this video. There are many great videos about the scanNcut series, I felt like this brand was the best for me.😉😊
Wow! No more fussy cutting! I LOVE that idea - but I'll wait 'till I have space - you're right, if you have to unpack , arrange & re-arrange every time you want to use it - you probably won't
Thank you Lyndsay! My ScanNCut arrived yesterday! A Black Friday sale also! Your video was very helpful, the prep, the scanning, the cutting, and placement and storage! Awesome!! Question: When do you need to select border width? And what is the result? Any issues? I prefer the no white border look. I see many people prefer to select a small white border.
You do that after scanning. Click on the icon that looks like a donut and play wuth the border. I do .04 usually if I want a border. You can see how it looks before cutting.
The CM350 is my FAVORITE version of the SNC. In July, I went to replace mine (because I sold it) and couldn’t find one. So, I bought the pink SDX85M from Amazon. Functions the same, but it’s not as loud and it cuts faster. I can’t remember if the options are the same though. I think it comes with more built in images. My issue is the mat is EXTREMELY sticky. It ripped my paper to shreds trying to remove it from the mat. People who buy the dies for stamps will definitely save the money- many times over!!
I bought a low tack mat because the standard mat was too sticky for my cardstock. But putting some lint on the standard mat helped it be less sticky and now I use both mats with cardstock.
Love this video. I have this model of Scan 'N Cut, as well and have not used it yet!!! OMG! Will be finding a place for it because as you say - if it isn't out and ready to use, I don't use it. Thank you Lindsay.
Thank you for this tutorial. I have a machine exactly like yours and I have been afraid to use it a lot because I am not sure about things. Your video has helped me tremendously and it was so clear and concise. While I was watching it, I was sitting and shaking my head yes to your comments. Thank you so much. I want to use it to do the exact thing you use yours for. I have so many stamps but not dies. Thanks again and Happy Holidays!!!!
Wasn’t too long or elaborate. You made it look easy, doable. And great tip about letting it out. It’s totally different but I don’t use my synthesizer because I don’t have it standing somewhere but tugged into it’s box. And I so miss it but don’t have the space. So yeah, having room for it to stand “free to use” is an important thing I’d say
Thanks, Lindsay. I bought mind on Black Friday several years ago. I did finally get it out of the box, but haven't managed to turn it on yet. This is a great tutorial for doing exactly what I want it to do!
Thank you Lindsay! Mine’s coming this week! I don’t mind fussing cutting but I’m not great at it and sometimes mess up my beautifully colored images. I have many stamps that do not have matching dies so this is exciting for me! I’ll keep my manual die cutters but this is too exciting 🙌🏼
It seems much more straight forward and more reliable than the Cricut (which I know is a company you don't like very much due to some of their scammy practices). I just see a lot of TH-camrs with a Cricut because they look pretty. A scan n cut wouldn't win any home decor and design competitions, but it gets the job done! That's all I care about. Thanks for sharing with us!
The real reason you see a lot of youtubers using cricut is the massive amount of money you van make as an affiliate. I know people who have built their business around selling those machines and asscessories (and they do very well!)
Every time I use my machine, I have to learn all the steps all over again. This is a great reminder.
At my age, arthritis is like a separate entity so......my arthritis and I LOVE this machine. I use it only for cutting out images I've printed from digital scrapbooking kits or images I've stamped...so I have no need to hook it to a computer. The "direct cut" feature is easy to learn and use.
I hear you.. Me too, I broke an elbow and I can't "fussy cut".
I fused my fabric to wonder under, and it worked fine.😊
I prefer to use my budget for dies on shapes I don't have stamps for, and what I can find more than one use for.
I have one of these. I've had it several years, and I have had so much trouble learning how to use it. I am glad you did this video! I've wanted to get rid of it because I just end up furious with the dumb thing! You might have saved my machine from being drop kicked out the door!
Please give it another try and when in doubt clean the scanner glass.
Haha that's funny.
-- Mary.
@@inkyfeet12 I will look her up. Thanks!
Jen Blausey Scan n cut is the QUEEN OF THIS MACHINE. TH-cam her older videos, 5 yrs ago or more
She has a step by step, awesome.
Very helpful! I love the comment at the end that buying it compares to buying ten dies at $25. Amazing!
The video was not long winded, I really enjoy it.
Was going to write my own comment, but Meg C said it all. Am definitely going to look for a SnC bargain.
For what I have spent on dies, I probably could have bought a machine already.
My mat was so sticky the first couple cuts but then it's perfect.
Another idea is to turn your mat upside down so you are “removing the mat from the paper”. Then with one hand you lift up the mat, and put your other hand on the paper between the mat and the paper, to gently coax it off the mat.
Thanks Gerrie! I will try that!
I am looking for a machine like this. I can't believe you did the video while I was searching.
It's a good buy on Amazon now too! Cheaper than I paid for the newer Model!
Just a note to tell you how much I have enjoyed your videos for years. Thanks for the ideas and for the smiles you have brought. You are awsome.
Thanks!
Thank u so much for this,I bought one 7 yrs ago and never used it due to fear.i may now try it
I can’t thank you enough for doing this video and making it very “okay” to just use it for die cutting.
Thanks, Lindsay. Very informative. I also appreciate the info and comments provided by your viewers. Thanks to all.
You are so welcome!
I'm really impressed that you still have knees that let you squat on the floor :-)
😆 must be all the playing with kids and digs over the years that kept me flexible
Thanks for this tutorial! I have had a Scan'N'Cut for over 12 months and its still in the box ..lol!!! thank you so much for the encouragement!!
Don’t have one now, but hopefully for Christmas! 🤞
Thank you for information on Scan n Cut machine - I have been looking into one. Yes having your equipment out - gets use of it .
Your explanation was very clear. You definitely can explain it well since you have had it for 5 yrs. and use it weekly. 🌵🦋💖
Im so glad it helped!
I love mine so much & a great thing you said is
I prefer the tape. You don't want it too stuck because the paper will curl or possibly tear when you remove it.
Just got mine, and looking for a spot so it is out and available. I'm very excited. It will pay for itself vs buying dies. Loved all your tips.
I love how much time my Scan ‘n Cut saves in time and money! Since moving I haven’t used mine. It’s time to use it again! Thanks!
You can do it!
I have had mine for about 3 yrs and love it!!
Thank you so much for all the wonderful things you share with us! I truly doubt that you could have any idea just what a tremendous gift you are!
God bless you, and your precious loved ones!
Jacqui
❤️
PS, anymore hints would be greatly appreciated! 😉😊
Aww, thank you!
I am so thankful this came up, I’ve been looking at the Cricut and Silhouettes and I just want to take the Digitals I’ve printed and get them cut out without needing to use my computer or printer. THANKS, very informative video, as usual! 🥰
You are so welcome!
I just bought one of these a few months ago. I need to start playing with it. Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thank you for sharing this!!! My husband bought me one for Christmas and I love it. Especially now that you showed me how to use it!!!
I hope you can find a place for it!
I have a spot for it if you want to get rid of it. 😁 I hate Fussy Cutting & spend so much on dies. 😊
I was having the same issue so I moved mine onto a small wooden TV tray that I can store against the wall out of the way when not in use. When I’m ready to cut, I slide out the tray and pull up my chair. I find I use it more because I don’t have to do all the setup and the TV tray is the perfect height.
Totally the same here! New goal for 2022…use the scan n cut! 😂
I spent way too much time on a computer as it is 😆
I don't have one, yet, so this video has been very enlightening. Thank you for simplifying the process.
Thank you so much. You have given me the courage to finally try using my machine. I've probably owned it over 5 years.
Have fun!
I have one of the older models, still going strong.
Thank you for the information.
Love my Scan n Cut and use it all the time. Love designing my own cuts and projects.
My ScanNCut will be here Dec. 8th! I can't wait to get it and start playing with it!! Thank You for the video!!
Lindsay, Awesome as always. I just got the Scan N Cut DX (SDX85). I have arthritis, like L. Whitaker, and I absolutely avoid any craft that involves fussy cutting! Thank you for the simple tutorial.
Enjoy!
I think I can do this with my Cricut Maker, upload images then print & cut. More steps but save me the trauma of learning how to use another tech product. Cricut help has a red flag by my name! Darn, I have wasted so much money on dies, thank you for this awakening.
I have this and I love it I bought mine 4 years ago and it is the best investment tyfs your video.
I am glad you treated yourself and love your new machine!
Thank you so so much for doing this I’ve waited for you to do a review or a tutorial on this for years! Thank you thank you thank you!
Thanks Lindsey, I needed to SEE how this machine works
Your advice to leave it out where it will be easily accessed is pure gold.
Thanks 😊
Connoe
I also love that I can enlarge my stamped image via pdf to my computer, print the larger image, color it and have the BSNC cut that size (which the matching die wouldn't be able to do!). ;-)
To add to why you love your machine over a cricut, here are some of my thoughts too - it actually has a screen on the machine so you don't need the computer each time; it has a USB that you can bring cut files over to your SNC from your computer; the software is free - cricut has some monthly fees.
Good ideas!
It was great learning about the Scan 'n' Cut machine. I've always wondered how they worked!
Thank you for all the details… I loved the suggestion to leave it out!! I’m going to make a spot for it!!! so helpful!!! Another great video!!
Thank you so much!! I had no idea this machine existed. This will be very handy to cut out my drawings for my journals, etc. Thank you again!!
I have one and use it on occasion probably as much as I should …..I like the dies because I take stuff to our summer place where we go by boat so it is much easier to pack dies than the entire machine………heavy for us to carry up our very long dock at my age
I’ve asked for one for Christmas. I can’t wait to use it. Thank you for sharing.
This is a Brother Scan n Cut not a cricut to be clear:)
Wow, thanks Lindsay! I'm not a crafter, but this demo has me thinking...
Thanks, Lindsay! I’ve been on the fence for some time now, about buying one. You may have just pushed me over the edge, well let’s say you’ve given me a nudge in the direction to purchase one ;D
Thank you! I have the same model and I love it! Best investment I have ever made for my crafting.
I have this model and have had trouble getting it to cut out things. Thank you for the information. 💖
Thanks for this. I have always wanted a Scan n Cut. I think I will keep an eye for a good deal.
This was helpful. As always Ty for taking the time out of your day to share your knowledge.
My ScanNCut came today!! Woohoo Watching this again to see how to make stickers!!
Cool!
I just ordered one, brother scan and cut!! So excited for it to arrive.
Great video, so easy to understand. Thank you Lindsay.
Glad it was helpful!
What a useful video. I didnt even know what a scan n cut was. Great presentation :)
Thanks!
I have the cm350 and love it. So glad I have it. You are right, leave it out!
Thanks for the video. I will now keep it out so I use it more often instead of piling up stuff to Scan N Cut.
Technology is fascinating! I wouldn't use. This but what a fantastic item.
Thank you for showing me something new!
I was just going to suggest pressing it to your sweater to remove some tack.
Love this video. I have this model of Scan 'N Cut, as well and have not used it yet!!! OMG! Will be finding a place for it because as you say - if it isn't out and ready to use, I don't use it. Thank you Lindsay.
I think you are going to have fun!
Perfect timing, Lindsay! I just ordered one for an important project.
Great demo. Thanks. I would use the scrap as a stencil !
Great idea! I have a folder full of die cut waste stencils:)
Thanks, Lindsay. I bought mind on Black Friday several years ago. I did finally get it out of the box, but haven't managed to turn it on yet. This is a great tutorial for doing exactly what I want it to do!
Great!
I hope you love it! Promise me you will open the box and try it as soon as it comes so it doesn't get precious:)
@@thefrugalcrafter I promise❤️
Thanks for the video!!! Definitely made me feel better about the idea of purchasing one of these
This is a great tutorial, Lindsay. I have an older machine and I don't use it much. I will get it out. You make it so simple.
