I have a question, did you have trouble activating your new hard drive as the primary playstation? I ask because mine died too and I did not have a chance to deactivate my old system and I am about to get a new hard drive.

      Indeed a very good video.
I will be doing the same.
I just got a sealed LE version Pro and after a few weeks it started freezing randomly, when games auto-save. Don´t know what else it could be than my hard drive dying... It´s also a Toshiba 1TB.

I wasn't aware they were new. Either way Marc said it's a 2TB seagate 2.5 5400 RPM sata HDD.

Forget the Barracuda as in this video, instead go with the Firecuda (SSHD - SSD Hybrid Drive) which is only slightly more expensive than the Barracuda but gives you the speed and performance closer to and only slightly slower than an SSD giving you really the best of both worlds -- pricing closer to regular hard drives with performance closer to full SSDs.

Probably should of gone with the very slightly more expensive Seagate SSHD FireCuda; Solid State Hybrid Drive. It's the same 2TB drive you installed, just with an integrated 8GB SSD portion as a Tier 2 cache, on top of the normal 128MB of Tier 1 cache. Which is way better than the 8MB cache on the normal 500GB/1TB drives that usually come with the PS4.

I just did this hard drive upgrade last night with a brand new white PS4 Pro. The main problem I had was that the stock 1 TB that comes with the white PS4 Pro is slightly thicker & bigger compared to the Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD 2TB. I could not easily slide in and align the Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD 2TB with the PS4 hard drive metal housing unit. I had to hold and modify if it to fit and hold right right to sit in the hard drive housing unit. I still managed to get it installed and my white PS4 Pro unit is working.

I used this video alongside while I switched mine over. Can I just say, if you want to out your old hard drive (which is in use) from your old PS4, directly into your new pro after you've done a back up, you can do it and it will wipe it and start a fresh without having to format it first. I struggled to find this info online and just had to try an and hope for the best but it worked no problems. Cheers.

PS4 now has external hard drive support for modern usb 3.0 drives. It's much cheaper and gives you more space than changing the internal hard drive. Keep it and use the space instead of wasting it. 500 gb + 2tb = 2.5tb vs only 2tb.

Can you play new games when you're space is full? Or is the system useless when it's full?
    Just wondering

I recently upgraded my ps4 to a 2tb hard drive and I was wondering if it's normal for the hard drive to be so loud when it's reading data. The hard drive I used was the same one used in the video.

I have an old PS4 with a 2tb hard drive. I’m getting a PS4 pro in a week or two. Can I just put the new drive right on in since it’s firmware is for the PS4? Or do I need to do the usb thing too?

I have a question. I have a 2tb hard drive I used in a regular PS4 and it has a lot of data on it. I recently bought a PS4 pro and a 4tb external. The 4tb is full so now I'm down to using the external storage. If i swap my the 1tb harddrive with my 2tb do I have to format it again for the PS4 pro?

Old PS4 broke. Took the 500 Gig hard drive out of it and trashed the console (old console was a regular PS4-not slim or Pro). What is the easiest way to transfer the data from the 500 Gig hard drive to the NEW Pro 1T hard drive?

I just changed mine and when i booted it up in safe the only option i could choose was number 7 all the other ones were greyed out. I see when you did yours you had to scroll down to 7. Initialize ps4 reinstall system software. Im just wondering why all my other choices were greyed out and i couldnt pick them for example i couldnt restart from safe mode cause it was greyed out
