I actually went at a store today. They had several phones to check, and right now I own a Sony Ericsson Aino. Im looking to enter the smartphone era. Was looking to check the supposely "best android phone in the market", the One X. The person there told me that they didn't have the HTC One X simply because it has a lot of problems. They didn't even bother ordering it. They had lots of others. Xperia S was one of them. Im definately getting the Xperia S. Not to mention the 200 euro difference.
it might not be the best basis on buying a phone, but have a wider viewer angle make it easier to view the screen while it is laying on the table top. specially when you receive a text message. Eitherway Im more keen on Xperia S since having quad on my phone would be too much. as long as I as it have clear audio specially during call, in-ear or loudspeaker it would be ok. of-course, have extra feature would be a bonus.
A very good video, well done, i dont understand why 99 people dislike this, a lot of time and effort has went into this video and both phone operations explained very well indeed.
I have Xperia S, and I absolutely love it. :) It's fast, its responsive, it has gotten the Android 4.0 update and will hopefully get Jellybean. I'm a die hard fan of HTC One X, but if you buy the Xperia S you won't be dissapointed. The touch screen buttons are a bit unresponsive at first, but you get the hang of it eventually, the camera produces wonderful shots and the a 4.3 inch screen is bright and responsive with an HD display and higher PPI than the iPhone 4s and 5.
For me, most of these phones specs now a days are pretty good and handle everything fine, so that's not what I care about anymore, ofcourse that doesn't mean I'm going to go backwards. But the reason I bought the One X is that screen is absolutely amazing, you have to see it in person to believe it.
My dad has a Xperia S, and yes, they are unresponsive sometimes. Although It's not BAD or anything, the camera is AMAZING and the screen is beautiful, but the software has a lot of bugs like zooming problems and lag. I'd go for the One X just because it's tiring to wait for ICS on the Xperia.
You fools. One x is faster, bigger and better in every aspect except the camera (which is good anyway) One x supports DC HSPA for faster data speeds, supports bluetooth 4.0, has a SLCD 2 panel for better views in sunlight. Has quad core for future proof power. Has Gorila Glass for better protection. Has HTC standard 2 year warranty. Beats audio integration. Need I go on?
Funny, i'm watching this from my Xperia S right now... A great advantage, at least for me, is the fast shooting feature, I really enjoy it. Shooting in movement brings great pictures too. A fine camera it has.
> If you want a media-centric phone (camera/music/videos) go for the xperia s; > If you want to play the latest games go for the htc one x/s; > If you don't care about either, choose based on appeareance (personal preferences) or budget (xperia s is a lot cheaper).
Xperia S...most stuff are sort of integrated which gives user a really good phone experience. I had HTC legend before and I'm amaze what my Xperia S can offer me.
Xperia S has walkman feature for music playing which also match your current mood (i dont know how it works yet because I have not upgraded to the latest software)
One X has better camera, processor, display, audio,UI,and is gettin the jellybean update way before Xperia s even gets ICS. One x vs S3, now thats one to watch.
One X - Processor, software (for now), battery... Xperia S - Camera, music, design... The good part is that when the Xperia S receive the update a lot of things will be improved and added so... lets see!
Wow!!!!!! Xperia s speaker is really cool. Plus a superb camera. Only downside is the less bright display and the wasted size in the region below transparent strip. Sony could have increased screen size and placed buttons below the strip.
I prefer the One X personally, but they are both amazing! And if you are in the UK, in my local Carphone Warehouse, the One X is £16 a month for 24 months! Unlimited internet, 200 minutes, and 500 texts! Reallly good deal, getting it Tuesday, as my BlackBerry 9300 is screwed! :l
In day to day use, they run identically speed-wise,... I'd even say (controversialy?) that the Xperia is a little nippier in day to day tasks as its not relying on the underpowered power saving 5th core, which lags (this may be sorted in a future update). I'll give HTC the UI round until ICS is released for the Xperia. I like sense, though the NXT interface is pretty good.
I own the Xperia S, and I have to say that I'm very pleased with it. I dont have anything against HTX One X, but I must say the Xperia has a cleaner, nicer design. For me it is important that my phone actually look good.. And for the power of the phones, will you even notice the difference? Probably not in most cases.
There should be another review for this two phone since Xperia S has recently upgraded to ICS and I believe it's on the level of Samsung Galaxy S3 now..perhaps even better.
fair enough, but i like a solid feel to a phone and it doesnt really get annoying for me when i hold it for ages.I just dont like when a phone feels to light, feels like its gunna snap
Xperia S is really a good phone though the battery doesn't last long. I have read that the latest version of the android OS which is the Ice Cream Sandwhich will improve the battery life of the phone.
GUYS, I HAVE TRIED OUT THIS PHONE AND THE DOTS ARE NOT THAT UNRESPONSIVE. THERE IS A VIBRATION WHEN YO PRESS THE DOTS AND THIS MAKES IT ALOT EASIER. ALSO THEY ARE PRETTTY EASY TO SEE.
I think ~4.7 inch is the sweet spot. As long as the ppi is above 300, you've got to have really, really good eyes if you want to see the actual difference in sharpness and be looking at the screen at an inch away or closer. So nope, I don't think it's a step backwards at all. People claim that 'it looks less sharp' because it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Because you know, you think you see it. But again, your eyes aren't that good.
If you want to compare the Xperia S with a HTC product you should have done it with something within its same line like the HTC Sensation XE or the HTC One S then it would have been a proper stand off
Everybody complains about these Xperia S buttons... I pressed them many times and there is no problem :) you have to get use to them.... and they get more comfortable because you dont press them without reason :)
Hmm they're both good phones, sony xperia s will be getting ICS 4.0 soon so depends on which experience you prefer. I've got the One X and the only disadvantage I can see is not having a dedicated camera key, gets annoying sometimes otherwise an amazing phone. Xperia S is also good don't get me wrong, I'm sure the camera is much better but I've tried it quite a bit and after using the One X the screen feels small :P Just read up some reviews and other vids and decide (unless you have already :S)
Check out Sony Xperia GX, it's comming out in Japan soon;) It is basically a development of the Arc. Same processor as in HTC One S (Snapdragon S4), 13 MP camera and of course, 4.6 inch 720p display. Has the arc shape as well... I really, really hope it's coming to US and Europe as well!
yes, i do agree. my father has/have it. sorry english is not my native language so i would like you to correct me with has or have :) . its really better after being updated to ICS.
I'm so confused now. I had my heart set on the HTC, but after watching this Vid I'm almost sold on the Sony. Only two things winning me over to the HTC atm are the better battery life and the faster hardware. Icecream sandwitch will probably be out for the Sony soon, so thats an advantage the HTC will soon loose, and from what I've seen in another good review the sony copes much much better in low light conditions shooting video. Then again the HTC has some pretty awesome camera features too =/
Not saying one x is bad but the xperia s design is so nice, you want your phone to be sort of heavy and not as slim as paper to have that authentic feel to it
good looks, camera and sound, xperia S is the one to go for. and if you want bigger screen, fast phone, better gpu and some other new features then go for s3 or one x. each phone has its own pros and cons. you can't compare them like this. everyone got their own likes and dislikes and taste. with android 4.0.something xperia S is not that bad a phone, its pretty good. am also confused which phone to get, my father has xperia s, cousin has s3 and friend one x. all are good.
watched a lot of different comparisons, mostly between one x and galaxy s3. And i found out that too much features in galaxy s3 made not so good as expected(at least, the eye tracking function that keep display on while user looks at it, work awfull with glasses) and cheap plastic used for smartphone's body is too disappointing for phone's cost. The great plus of samsung galaxy s3 is awesome customisation and a wide number of different and interesting settings. But anyway, my choice is One X.
I'm buying a new phone. This is the two phones that I'm down to at the moment. I really really love HTC phones and my current one is an HTC. Other then that I've been faithful to Sony/Sony Ericsson and really love them to. The problem I've got with HTC is that both me and my friend has had some issues with both our phones (different models, can't remember his) and I think that the battery life is utterly crap on HTC. So does anyone know how these to are in comparison? (battery life)
i agree one x looks good, but as i said sony looks like something tough and have a good material feel, its just my opinion as i've seen both of them. sorry i don't want to start any arguments but sony is way better in sound, you just take both one x and xperia s and plug in any headphones, you'll just notice the difference, one x is like computerized sound while sony is like realistic kind of sound. and camera yeah both are good but sony with slightest of the edges ahead.
Sony Xperia S is my definitive choice. Mostly because their vast price difference, I can get the Xperia S here with 400 euros, while the HTC is well over 550. 550 for a smartphone? Hell no! 400 is on the limit.
The HTC one x rocks. Only problem is the battery which never lasts for more than half a day if you have the brightness turned up. With that display you really don't wanna reduce it. The sony looks weird to be honest.
Sony - well know Japanese brand with many years of success. HTC - Made in Thailand the last 3-4 years. P.s. I'm using Sony Experia Arc S and I have to say the design is brilliant and it works properly even though it has 1 core processor.
Both the one x and s rival each other in display. They are both slightly saturated, thou I would say that the one x has more saturation. At any rate, both displays are good.
camera is more important for me, and xperia s speed is smooth enough for me, one x is for who need more faster speed and beats audio, both phone are the best choice in android, for now
Phonearea should realise that there is a factory installed screen protector on the Sony Xperia S which reduces the sensitivty of the capacitive buttons and touch screen. I removed mine and the screen is super sensitive now.
THANK YOU... that's what i wanted to know... One of my friends has xperia S and he got that fone right after it released, still working fresh, never hanged for a while, yeh, he spoke the truth, but i don't know anything bout htc one x since none of my friends own this :|
My 2 cents; Sony has the better camera - no question. It also has the better audio and is bundled with pretty nifty headphones (Beats Audio is massively over-rated and there's a setting within the Sony equalizer that replicates it - I know, I've done it) Screens are about equal with the nod to HTC for viewing angles - though the sony is better in direct sunlight.
And how does having the EVO and Touch mean you know how the quality of the ONE X? That's like saying you if you buy the Honda Civic you know how good the Honda Jazz is.
he talks about viewing angles being better on the one x but the reason being the background on the one x has more colours on it compared to xperia s blue and black background the brighter the colours on the sscreen better viewing i can almost guarantee if they had the same background the xperia s would have better viewing angles
One X is way better.Get the white one cos it looks more stylish than the gray. And don't worry abt getting stains cos you can easily clean it off with any non-corrosive solution or just plain water! How I know? Cos I own it :)
I think he meant the specs and software. The xperia s has snapdragon s3 which came out in 2011 and one x has tegra 3 + one x had ics in this video(it has jelly bean now) and the xperia s had gingerbread(now it has ics)
Gs3 is good with specs but design is usual and screen is no better than others, and it's no better the other high end quality androids like these two above. If they are all great. One may be faster okay, but still feature great customization and same android systems just different skins. If someone layed those three out for me I would cry.
XPERIA S better all round phone. More size friendly, The better screen, the Better camera, Fairly lower price and on top of that the Xperia S dual core processor is very very good and most users wouldnt be able to tell the difference between the two phones unless running very very very demanding apps or games.
for the matter of fact, yes there are almost the same, but IMO xperia S is a pretty good looking. and yes they are laggy, and i too don't like there Ui ;), lets see whether they have done something for the lag or not in xperia T as it is using krait dual core. but tbh i don't like using sony much, they are kind of boring.
I know that the Samsung Galaxy SIII is very good, very fast and has a great battery life. But I like my phone to be a little smaller. And I want to stick to my brand/s if you know what I mean :D
Hi, I am looking into buying a new phone and Sony Xperia S and HTC one V are in my sight. Which one would you think would be better (taking their prices into consideration)? is the video quality really that visible when watched on a 1080p screen (the One V is 720p and Xperia S is 1080p)? thank you for your time :)
which model runs smoother?i'm looking for a phone that runs smooth with no lag mostly. what would you recommend? any other suggetions are welcomed. thank you
The HTC One X has the best screen technology because it sports Super LCD 2 technology which is developed by optronics and even beats the iPhone 5's screen. Super LCD 2 blows everything away because it has 200% higher brightness, superior contrast and much deeper and superior black levels. This is the reason why the HTC J Butterfly won the best mobile display of 2012 from The Verge. HTC One X's Super LCD 2 screen produces 200% more brightness than TFT screen of the xperia crap. Forza HTC!
but man,do you think that with this temp of techno improvement people will still use the phones for even 2 years??i bought my phone just 6 month ago and i am sure that i am going to change it in a year.everybody is going to do this.we are living, not staying in one place, thats why we need new technos.but for now quad core is not sore important,as well
Come on Sony make a Xperia Arc 2, same design but with Capacitive buttons 720p screen and 12MP Camera Better CPU and GPU Front camera and Android 4.0 that would be the best phone ever.
actually the white one x looks a tonne better than the black one. another thing that i found was that one x looks much better in real life than ones shown in videos.
Xperia s came a long time before htc one x and still stands really competitive..it will be the best if sony releases the new one in future.. i see lame and biased comparison between a previous gen and next gen smartphone without informing such situation in the video..xperia s is more useful in daily life i guess.. heads up if u guys agree???
i'm considering getting the xperia s, but i've also been offered the iphone 4s. To anyone who's owned either of these phones for the last few months, which would you recommend?
people had the same opinion with the galaxy s2 and arc s, its just those things that sony did thats makes it so much better. for example the playstation certified thing and the beautiful bravia engine reality display. not even amoled can compete with that shit.
but I really think it's a much more powerful phone and has better specs than the one x... (better battery, sd card slot, possible better processor, and other more innovative features)
I've had both. One x is far superior, better screen, better built, faster and most of all it has unlockable bootloader. Xperia s is slow and you are lucky to get one that allow to unlock the bootloader. Xperia S does have a superior battery though and has really got great 3g in comparison to one x.
I actually went at a store today. They had several phones to check, and right now I own a Sony Ericsson Aino. Im looking to enter the smartphone era. it might not be the best basis on buying a phone, but have a wider viewer angle make it easier to view the screen while it is laying on the table top. specially when you receive a text message.
It's fast, its responsive, it has gotten the Android 4.0 update and will hopefully get Jellybean. I'm a die hard fan of HTC One X, but if you buy the Xperia S you won't be dissapointed.

You fools. One x is faster, bigger and better in every aspect except the camera (which is good anyway)
One x supports DC HSPA for faster data speeds, supports bluetooth 4.0, has a SLCD 2 panel for better views in sunlight.
All in all, as the video demonstrates, it's a much closer call than people think. For the price, the Xperia is an absolute steal.
> If you want a media-centric phone (camera/music/videos) go for the xperia s;
> If you want to play the latest games go for the htc one x/s;
> If you don't care about either, choose based on appeareance (personal preferences) or budget (xperia s is a lot cheaper).

Yeah I wondered why he spoke so confidently too adding it as an advantage. They both even there.

amazing comparison, but I hoped you waited until ICS for the XS.
about the design, it a matter of taste, for me I prefer the XS.
ALSO THEY ARE PRETTTY EASY TO SEE.

yes, i do agree. my father has/have it. sorry english is not my native language so i would like you to correct me with has or have :) . its really better after being updated to ICS.
Xperia S has quite a good camera. It takes vivid pictures but sometimes it doesn't focus well.
When we hold something like Xperia S in our hand.......any other person around would say wow, what a phone.......cause its design is unique.
I'm so confused now. I had my heart set on the HTC, but after watching this Vid I'm almost sold on the Sony. Not saying one x is bad but the xperia s design is so nice, you want your phone to be sort of heavy and not as slim as paper to have that authentic feel to it
the new update with sense 4.1 makes everything so much better I hear. The ICS update for sony xperia s has screwed up a lot.
the price on the xperia right now is excellent when compared to one x. Cant beat that.
Based on processor arhitecture , the qualcomm is better , so i say even if htc is quad they are very much the same.
The Xperia S does not have a regular Sim-card slot as said in the video, it too has a micro sim-card slot.
good looks, camera and sound, xperia S is the one to go for. and if you want bigger screen, fast phone, better gpu and some other new features then go for s3 or one x. each phone has its own pros and cons. you can't compare them like this. everyone got their own likes and dislikes and taste. with android 4.0.something xperia S is not that bad a phone, its pretty good. am also confused which phone to get, my father has xperia s, cousin has s3 and friend one x. all are good.

How? How did it kill it? Can you elaborated and share your precious knowledge with us all
Sony Xperia S is my definitive choice. Mostly because their vast price difference, I can get the Xperia S here with 400 euros, while the HTC is well over 550. 550 for a smartphone? Hell no! 400 is on the limit.
The sony impresses me with its high resolution screen at 342ppi close to there.it beats the retina display.

Xperia T is better, it uses a newer qualcomm s4 processor while the xperia s uses an older qualcomm s3, but they are both quite good
actually after getting the gingerbread update, it has become so much better than before
As a matter if fact, I own two HTC devices (Evo 3D and HTC touch) and there´s a big difference between Sony and HTC´s quality standards...
am i right in saying the sony is cheaper? if so then it could be said this isnt really a fair comparison.

by the way the zooming in browser was laggin in htc and the guy moved the camera away from htc when comparing the viewing angle.. not fair
THANK YOU... that's what i wanted to know... One of my friends has xperia S and he got that fone right after it released, still working fresh, never hanged for a while, yeh, he spoke the truth, but i don't know anything bout htc one x since none of my friends own this :|
Xperia S has the best screen so far. It's amazingly vivid but the 4s is quite good too.
When it comes to the UI, camera features incl. burst mode, video codec support and music player features which one is best
My 2 cents; Sony has the better camera - no question. It also has the better audio and is bundled with pretty nifty headphones (Beats Audio is massively over-rated and there's a setting within the Sony equalizer that replicates it - I know, I've done it)

I won't deny the onscreen buttons issue and ICS and possibly quad vs dual (which their dual does hold its ground) but other than that Sony killed HTC.
yeah man!!surely agree with!keep going on
So why did you keep watching?Obviously you can understand because you have typed out exactly what he has said.
Sony, Samsung, HTC...
that's Japan, Korea, Taiwan... (respectively)
think about this... which country makes the best quality of products?
How I know? Cos I own it :)
white One X is the most beautiful and advanced phone to date!! BEST OF
You have both, HTC and Sony Xperia T? Lucky you :)
thanks :)
To me everything he said is right.
I dont own either of the phones nor do i want to buy one.
I have the HTC thunderbolt. I want this one because It's not heavy like my phone
I have both and personally think the xperia t is better and faster, the qualcomm s4 is faster than the tegra 3
when it comes to S and SL there is no big difference but sl is the new version and its better but no big changes
Forza HTC!
but man,do you think that with this temp of techno improvement people will still use the phones for even 2 years??i bought my phone just 6 month ago and i am sure that i am going to change it in a year.everybody is going to do this.we are living, not staying in one place, thats why we need new technos.but for now quad core is not sore important,as well
Yea I'm not surprised. Thanks for the info :)
Come on Sony make a Xperia Arc 2, same design but with
Capacitive buttons
720p screen and 12MP Camera
Better CPU and GPU
Front camera and Android 4.0 that would be the best phone ever.
The htc one x is the best phone on the market nothing apart from the samsung galaxy s3 cant even get near it!
actually the white one x looks a tonne better than the black one. another thing that i found was that one x looks much better in real life than ones shown in videos.
Xperia s came a long time before htc one x and still stands really competitive..it will be the best if sony releases the new one in future.. i see lame and biased comparison between a previous gen and next gen smartphone without informing such situation in the video..xperia s is more useful in daily life i guess.. heads up if u guys agree???
it is, i bought 1 2 days ago, it need micro sim
iPhone4s has almost the same price with HTC OneX.I'd choose OneX but if you are going for sony vs apple i'd say sony.
i'm considering getting the xperia s, but i've also been offered the iphone 4s.
I think that comparing with price one should go with sony xperia s
The "SONY" logo looks so much better than the previous "Sony Ericsson" one!
but I really think it's a much more powerful phone and has better specs than the one x...
Compared a lot the last days, I think One X is the better choice.
Did u say Xperia s has regular simcard slot?? U r wrong dude.. Its a micro sim again for Xperia S. Im a Xperia S user..
Do you have the phone ? Interested in your opinion
The xperia has not a regular sim card slot but micro also..
