For 2014, HTC improved every single aspect of the phone for its successor, the 2014 version of the HTC One. Obviously, there are specific reasons as to why you should pick up one smartphone over the other, but nevertheless, we know some of you are itching to know exactly how much better the new HTC One fares against the old -- so let's find out for sure how HTC is able to follow up...
The m8 is somehow overdesigned. Too much metal, large speakers, large bezel with the logo under the screen, large logo on the back, large LED flash, two cameras. It tries too much to look nice. M7 had a nice balance i think.
True buddy m7 has the class and texture.... They should had at least retained the texture
i don't mind the large speakers, but that large bezel with the logo under the screen just makes me don't want to buy the phone anymore.
armanish07626 The texture is only different on the Gunmetal grey model. It is the same on the arctic silver and gold models :)
Design-wise I like M7 much more.
M8 looks like a metal, oversized iPhone 3G.
Many believe the M7 was the best phone of 2013 ( even won awards for it) so this phone must be good too.
Better than cheap plastic.
i considered going for m8 but when i get my hands on m8 i havent seen much of a improvement. Bigger, thicker and worst thing which might be the biggest step down are on screen keys. whats the point of making phone that big when u cant use that extra space on screen cause the keys are there. and i really dont like those rounded edges as well. better performance in games ? not a big deal i dont play any. better speakers ? i am happy with those on m7. Dual camera ? who needs that ?
+ozzy do It feels better, but it is not better. Plastic is lighter and doesn't get as hot as aluminium.

There was a point I had an OG One M7 Beats and my roommate had just gotten the M8.
We both agreed we liked the M7 better. The feel and everything. His camera was better though, no purple tint at night.
The One M7 is what started this whole hobby for me. Amazing device.

I have the M7 and the one thing I don't like about it is the 4MP main camera on it. I was hoping that they would improve it with their next flagship phone. But sadly they did not..... But I will still probably be getting it. Lol.

I continue preferring the anodized aluminum on the HTC One M7 in comparison with the brushed aluminum on the HTC One M8. It feels much more premium.

bogellenong correct, IDK why everyone seems to think the brushed metal color is the only option. both the gold and silver have the same finish as the original "one"

Why does my HTC one (M7) shot purple pictures at night ?
The m8s back and home buttons are now on the screen, as opposed to the m7s capacitive buttons. I feel that this definitely takes up the small change in screen size. I actually have an htc evo 3d , and a couple months ago I upgraded to the nexus 5...however I didnt like that the buttons were on the screen. The difference in screen usability was almost nill when compared to my evo 3d with a 4.3" display. Needless to say I have my htc evo 3d again (not just because of that reason though). I would much prefer another htc or a samsung phone.
Does anybody know when the m7 might get an update for the camera to get rid of the purple/yellow tint problem ? Or should I just get a replacement phone?

I'm tired of reviewers bashing the M8 for the 4 ultrapixel camera. ***** explained its reasons last year. Dont you think if they wanted to they could provide a camera phone. Its a phone!! Go back to the early smartphones were we that unhappy with 3 mega pixel? If I wanted better pictures I would buy a camera!! All reviewers take note bash the camera on the M8 and you risk sounding stupid. Instead be breath of fresh air and applaud HTC for not joining the pixel race and enjoy the phone for all its other beautiful features! ***** M8.
This video might as well be called why the HTC one m8 is better you only listed good things about the new one the m7 has more screen space because it don't have the compasitive buttons while the new m8 has the home and back buttons on the screen taking up more space so all together the m7 does beat the m8 at screen usability
Does the M7 have a 5 inch screen when watching videos or playing games? Also, every Android phone is pushing for on-screen buttons except for Samsung, it's becoming an Android standard and part of the guidelines, so expect the same for M9 and the many years to come.
xShadow No, the HTC One (M7) is only 4.7 inches. The M8 Is 5.0 inches.
xShadow the point is,is that the m7 don't have on screen buttons with the app drawer on screen also while the m7 has the buttons off screen therefore giving the m7 more screen space for a user

I have both phones and I notice the M7 does better with making whites more vibrant. Also my M8 with auto brightness off keeps dimming while playing videos and random times any ideas? Also I do not have power saver on or even have display checked on under power saver

Really let down by the camera on the M8. Should've been at least an 8MP with OIS 😑
I don't know if I should get the htc one m7. I don't see much difference. I don't care about battery much because I don't use battery draining things.
Well, I have a friend who has the pervious htc one, n he is saying the battery is more than enough for a daily use, so I believe that m8 with 2600 mAh is going to survive the day with some juice left before it's charging again...

Ive got the htc one m7 in blue its the 4g mofel and ive compared it to the htc one m8 anf my phone was a lot quicker and tracked youre finger a lot better whether thats cause the phone is well looked after with modded updates i dony know but its a lot more responsive

The M7 looks better imo. More balanced and sleek. They should have oomphed up the camera instead of that dual camera gimmick. Its a phone not a camera! But kudos HTC: this is a far better cry from the plastic phones with the same price range.

Stfu. M7 launched with 4.1.2. It got 4.2.2, 4.3 and I believe HTC was one of the first to release 4.4.
htc one come with jelly bean ..... originally only have one update ... kitkat... 4.2 .4.3 are minors updates

ok i give you a example.... htc one x ... come with 4.0 ics and die with jelly bean.... only 1 update... thats all.
TheNitrohp Seriously, if you start with 4.0 then go to 4.1.2 then 4.2.2 and finally on to 4.3 that is FOUR updates, the specific name is irrelevant. ALL updates count, even "small" incremental updates take a lot of work to make everything function properly. Also you have to take into account that no OEM can update faster than Google releases to them...so there's that...Although I'd wager you have no clue what it takes to make software work, let alone an operating system.

I would take M8 if it's not that much oval. The M7 looks much better IMO but the One X in aluminium unibody would look much better than anything in the market.

mrbigtime81 what a shame because it makes it look more stylish and expensive, but red is a nice color too that makes people look after you, silver and black is to simple colors as there already is a lot of phones in that color.
