    *You can change subtitles font size on PC by going to Settings -> Subtitles/CC -> Options(top right corner) and you have there some options*
    There’s a link in the description box with all the universities and departments that take in exchange students. If you’re interested in any of them try checking out the links 😊
    Many viewers contributed subtitles so that students from around the world can watch this video and I want to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart. If you found the subtitles useful don’t hesitate to let everyone know in the comments below! 👍

      Hitoki-san, thank you for this tremendously helpful video in which we get to hear dialogue! Perhaps this would seem like a strange request, but do you think it would be possible for you to share the Japanese subtitles in a Word file or Google doc online for your subscribers like myself? I'm guessing you already have the file somewhere since those subtitles seems to be manually typed instead of auto-translated by TH-cam, so hopefully it won't be too much work to upload them somewhere...? The reason for making this request is that I (and perhaps others) actually pause the video and handwrite the subtitles so I can properly study the way the grammar/language is used. I've found this method extremely helpful in improving my Japanese. Hope you can consider it!

      I just finished the video and learned that he studied five hours a day six times a week plus the time that he spent studying in school. That is absolutely amazing and I don’t think I could ever have the self control to study that much that consistently. (I don’t even think I can watch anime for 30 hours a week. He’s honestly so amazing)

      It helps a little bit that he's Korean, I think. Even though the languages probably aren't actually related, I've heard there are a lot of similarities between Japanese and Korean as far as grammar and cultural concepts go. It's a little more like an English-speaker learning another European language than an English-speaker learning Japanese. It's definitely still impressive, but don't feel too bad it - he had an advantage over most people learning Japanese.

    • @nayade4032
      @nayade4032 3 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      I'm sure he did put a lot of hard work in it, but you also have to consider that Korean and Japanese grammar are veeery similar, so he probably didn't have to put much effort there, and both languages also share vocabulary background. Of course, he had to learn kanji like everyone else, but just don't compare yourself to someone who didn't start with the same backgroud as you :3
      (I wish I could pass N1 in such a short period of time tbh)

      5 plus hours a day for a year and a half, learning at a young age, with Korean as your native language. Sounds like even after that kind of preparation, it was rough getting by at school and communicating. Just shows the scale of time commitment it takes to learn Japanese as an adult. It’s not for wimps!

      @@dc_gahyeonpretty5760 It's mostly just the elderly people who are like that. I'm Korean and my parents are mostly lenient towards Japanese people. We even had a Japanese neighbor when I was growing up and we were very friendly towards each other. But yeah, politics will always get in the way.. It doesn't help the fact that both nations are very nationalistic and tend to spread a lot of propaganda on TV.

      all that people said is true, but I would also like to add that Korean and Japanese are rather similar due to the extensive contact of the two languages. The grammar is so similar you could basically translate formal sentences word per word, not to mention the number of cognates the languages have that they borrowed from China.
      So don't beat yourself too hard, being at an N5 level in a year is nothing to be ashamed of, if you persist with your studies and immersion, I'm sure you're going to surprise yourself in a couple of years with how much you know :))))))))

    I'm in Japan now through the same scholarship and I extremely recommend it if you guys are interested in coming to Japan.
    It's probably one of the best scholarships out there (if not the best). It's not a lot (around 12万円 per month, besides exemption from school taxes), but it's more than enough to cover all the expenses.
    Even if you're not confident about your Japanese, it's worth to try it!!

    that's remind me with my youngest brother, he went to Japan last year for undergraduate degree, but it takes 2 years for him to pass University in Japan (though he was university student in public university in here). He applied MEXT twice but got rejected instead he got one from his current university. People know that MEXT scholarship for undergraduate was the hardest one to get, and not much people get that scholarship, especially in medical degree.

    I am also a MEXT scholarship applicant who is applying for medical school. I have passed the first screening and I am currently waiting for my final screening results from MEXT. I was kind of down today because I still haven't received the results from MEXT but I came across this video and it cheered me up. Thank you so much for making this video🙏☺️

    my dream since I was a child is to study and live in Japan, it's the first time I've seen someone who studies medicine through mext scholarship,so proud!
    Could you guys do part two on this video? talking about the marks for medicine mext exam (do you need to get 100/100)? and about how foreign doctors are seen in Japan, do they suffer prejudice? refuse to be treated by foreign doctors?

    • @chocolatte7736
      @chocolatte7736 ปีที่แล้ว

      To take the Japanese as a Foreign Language subject test, I’ve heard that you’d need at least N2 on the JLPT.

    ひとき先生とジウォンさん、とっても重要な動画を作ってくださってありがとうございます。本当に感謝しております。私はインドの出身です。ただ今、自分でN2の勉強をしております。実は、去年私も日本で医学を勉強するために国費留学受験を受けました。面接にも合格いたしました。まだ、文部科学省からの最終結果をお待ちしております。結果は今月の下旬に来るはずなんです。この間、ネットにMEXTを受けて、医学を勉強する外国人について調べた時、何も出て来られなかったので、自分の合格率について不安になってしまいました。2人のおかげで今日色々な質問の答えを見つけることができまして、本当に嬉しいです😄。もう一度、ありがとうございました。
    最終結果の合格率について何か情報があったら教えてくださいませんか。
    どこかで間違った日本語を使っていましたら、どうかお許しください。

    ひときさん This was amazing! Thanks for this inspiring video. Also, LOVED that we could hear how dialogue sounds like between two natives (I'd count Juwon as native given how good his Japanese is ^_^ ) Please could we have more videos like this? Helps a lot as people can study the subtitles and learn natural expressions. Great for anyone at N1-N3 level I think.

    We also have Japan Scholarships offered here but Im not that bright, smart or intelligent. I really want to study in Japan, but I need to be rich and intelligent at the same time. Ahh, a dream that would never come true.

    • @SaraMarieBuggy422
      @SaraMarieBuggy422 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don’t say that! When it comes down to it, intelligence isn’t what matters. A lot of people confuse intelligence with hard work. You can be the most intelligent person but without hard work, you won’t get anywhere. Work hard and you’ll be able to do whatever you’d like to in life. Don’t give up on your dreams without trying your best first!! 頑張ってね 😊

    Thank you for the great video Hitoki and Ji Won! From one Ryuugakusei to another. I actually only just moved to Japan to start my 4-year study at a university a few days ago, so this video is very relatable. In quarantine right now! The part where Ji Won talked about not understanding the Konbini Staff is exactly what I experienced in the past few days. 「袋を要りますか?」- I couldn't catch it! And also the part with the rent and bills, because I'm struggling with them now :')
