Thank you Loretta so much. I could make a good video thanks to you. Please check her channel too. She’ll post our collaboration video soon so stay tune! Also let me know the best way you think to learn from a native speaker!I also want to know how you felt about this video☺️
Thank you for sharing this game! Sorry for this super long comment 😅 overall, I love this idea, and I'm going to try it out today! My boyfriend is Japanese and his family speaks basically no English... I learned some Japanese in college, and I watch so much Japanese TV that my understanding is very good, but I'm TERRIBLE at speaking. I've only talked with his parents once, it was... awkward 😅 we will hopefully be able to visit them next year, and I'd love to be able to have some kind of conversation with them!! Because we're dating, I didn't want to force him to be my teacher, I thought it could create some negative feelings between us if he's constantly correcting me, but I think this kind of game could be very very good for us. It's so important for him to practice English too, because he's trying to get a job to stay permanently in the U.S., and his English is getting worse because we can't go and talk with friends (thanks corona virus!) Hopefully this game will help both of us! Thanks again!
Hi^-^ I found your channel here because of her, I'm from Brazil and I'm trying to learn English by myself, and I really like the Japanese language, stay safe:)
I just found Onomappu's channel recently, but I've been watching Loretta's videos for a long time. So when I saw her on the thumbnail, I was like, "Wait, whaaat??". Never thought both of you were gonna be in the same video. But I'm here for it.
Same here! New to this channel but have been watching Loretta for a while and appreciate her keen energy. I am so happy I found this and I really want to try out this game. I get nervous even thinking about hiring a tutor but I think it's the perfect level of a not-too-high-pressure game to help me start to get used to speaking and thinking on my feet.
I’m an EL teacher (English language for foreign kids!) and I definitely am guilty of letting kids slide with imperfect communication. I don’t stop them to teach them grammar. But sometimes I will rephrase the words or use different word choice for them to learn in the future. The biggest thing for me is their relationship with the language and culture is positive so they keep trying hard!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I have to say that your channel is perfect for slightly advanced learners. I've been having trouble finding useful Japanese learning channels. Keep up the good work! I'm a big fan!
Ohhh this was so wholesome and funny to watch, I appreciate the effort of both of you so much but I seriously need more collabs like this!!😂😂 I've learned a lot, graciaaaaas 😄😄
You two laughing are so contagious! Even in the parts I didn't understand, I laughed together haha Also, I am addicted to your videos, I can learn some new things little by little in each one. Thanks for the content!
When you said 'recently, it has been a global trend', I immediately thought the answer had something to do with COVID-19. 😅 Thanks for always making these entertaining and easy-to-understand videos!
Really glad to see this collab! I never thought of using riddles for language exchanges, Genuis. I would love to see more of these on both channels, and with TakoAki Japanese as well.
wowww i often watch both of your videos, and it was such a wonderful surprise to me that you both finally came together for a collab. i'm glad this was a successful language exchange.

Ah this looks like it was such a fun video to make, I really enjoyed it and laughed along with you two, now I have some new shows to watch!!! Thank you two for making this video and stay happy and safe😆💖
What a great collab!! I really have to try this game out when I have a chance, such a smart way to expand your vocabulary. Excited for Loretta’s video now 😊
In the UK the main shopping street is often called the 'High street', sounds like it might be similar to shotengai (商店街?). There's also arcades like KemushiChan mentioned if it's a covered area.
I love both of y'alls channels so much!! This was really fun to watch! I have a big fear of speaking and I tend to suddenly freeze in the middle of conversation with a language partner, so a game like this seems interesting to try. I'm definitely going to share this with some of my online buddies and see if we can try this 笑笑
I think that's a great idea! I think I can also use your game method in my italki learning session to practice! Sometimes thinking what to share to strangers can be difficult sometimes.
I found your channel a few months ago when I was looking for Japanese youtubers that I could use to practice listening, and I'm so glad that I found you! My Japanese is just barely N4 level, so I'm not at all good yet, but I find that I'm getting more confident in my listening ability by watching your videos. Thank you, Onomappu! I also love Loretta, and originally found out about her from Sambon Juku's channel! You guys are all awesome, thank you for all of your content ~
Loved every second of this video! I'm an Italian girl studying both Japanese and Chinese and your videos are always soo inspiring 😭 thank you so much for your hard work 🥺❤️
Haha, this collab was a pleasant surprise, I thought I clicked on Loretta's channel by accident. Also, I love the idea of this game! I'll definitely try it out!
13:49 I’m pretty sure the correct word for it in English would be ‘High street’. That’s the word we use in England for a street full of shops, especially in London. (I’m not sure if they have it in America though🤔)
Very nice video! I really enjoyed watching you two play the game 😄 I also very much like your game idea! I have spent some time learning various languages, including Japanese, but the usual "methods" have always felt a bit boring or not practical enough. On the other hand, I feel like this game strikes a good balance between fun and effective learning. I'll try it for myself from now on 😁 Keep up with your good work!
I’m not sure how to say that I guessed the word faster so I’m sorry that the sentence came out a little weird. Also, I was really surprised by this collab! I’m so glad this video happened! Thank you for the wonderful video as always!~
Ironically I was just thinking about this; great video, do you have any questions for me, I'm making a Winter & New Year's Q&A, and was wondering if I had any questions for me, keep up the great work and have a great day! 👍🏾
I've only participated in one language exchange so far but not everybody got to speak in both languages which was a pity. We had designated topics to speak about in a set amount of time but it took a while for everybody to get comfortable so by the time we really wanted to chat, the session was over. 😆 Opening up with a game like this would have been a super nice ice-breaker! If I manage to overcome the introvert inside me in the future again and decide to join another language exchange, I will definitely suggest this video as a model for a nice and comfortable language exchange 🤩 (Anyways, my assignments are now looking at me in disappointment since I abandoned them the moment I noticed a new video was up 😆 But it's not time for them yet... now it's time to camp at Loretta's channel for the second video 💪)
I'm really grateful that I found your channel. You speak in a easy-to-understand speed and the subtitles really help too! I'm still learning and my japanese isn't all that good yet, but I think I'm getting better (especially at listening) thanks to your videos!
Actually you can play this game on the phone so if you find Japanese for language exchange on Facebook or Hello Talk etc, you can do that😊 絵文字の使い方がめっちゃ日本人ですね🤣応援しています💪
great video!! i'm just starting to learn japanese and i love how easy it is to understand each word and phrase you guys say!! also this language exchange game was really fun👏when i tried to guess the answers, i thought the first one would be tiktok and then when you said it comes in sets of five i was like what?? 🤣
For future reference, in British English, しょうてんがい would be translated into "High Street". This is where lots of shops can be found, usually in the centre of towns.
Im going to start a japanese-italian language exchange in a month and im really nervous about it, especially because the other students are total beginners in italian, and im worried that im going to be the one making more effort to speak... but this video gave me some ideas useful to break the ice earlier with my future language partner! I love your channel, thx onomappu💜
