FYI … Trailers will void the warranty on a Brompton unfortunately. When asking Brompton about weight limits if I bought a trailer, they told me it would void the warranty and I checked the manual and it states under intended use, “We do not recommend fitting a child seat or trailer to the Brompton Electric, doing so will invalidate the Brompton Electric warranty.”
@@2Bikes4Adventure note that I asked brompton to clarify if this applied to non-electric bikes and they replied just now and said it applies to all of their bikes. Trailers void the warranty on all the bikes sadly.😢
I too am SO impressed by the sheer utility of these videos of Pam et Gilbert. A wealth of experience shines out of every one, the graphics are brilliant, and the commentary is gracious. Thank you... (again).
If you like this video, you will appreciate the “Easter Egg” we put for you in this other video th-cam.com/video/kueqIy0DnTQ/w-d-xo.html (a little bit past the 3 minutes mark :-)
I really love these videos they are invaluable - I hope Brompton have given you a free bike by now! Me and my wife often talk about our "Pam and Gilbert" plans on folding bikes when our kids are older
As usual - fabulously informative and thoroughly researched and exquisitely presented! Your videos are always a joy to watch as well as packed full of helpful things to consider. Thank you and Stay Safe 😁
Have been binge watching all your videos.. The information provided in your videos is awesome.. Thanks a lot for the hard work you guys put in to help us
Subscribed! very attractive animated presentation, without those, I do not think that I will be able to finish watching without falling into sleep haha. Great content, keep them coming!
Super informative, as always! I love the animations and featuring me, shamelessly exceeding the luggage block limit. Haha I'm curious about your saddle, Pam (12:21). Have you talked about it on the channel already?
We suspect you were indeed way above the 10Kg limit (although chips are less than 400gm/l). We discussed Pam's saddle here th-cam.com/video/Kt5LyiivTZA/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for sharing. Didnt know you had such an informative video. I ever cycled the Camino with a backpack and tote bag in front in 2017. Now looking forward to travelling again once this Covid thing is eased. Thanks a lot, folks.
Hi Pam Great video, extremely useful information and necessary for us who like to travel. I love its graphics, super cool and very illustrative. Looking at your saddle I was curious, how do you go down an steep hill? I stand on the pedals and secure the tip of the saddle with my thighs. But your saddle there is no nose? Keep Riding Keep Safe!
Very informative . Thanks and more power to both of you.

Thank you for this episode, complete and clear, the animations are so cool. The old 31 liter T-bag looked really good, I finally managed to find a used one.
Really pleased to have found this , I have a Brompton , going to get it serviced and look to do euro velo 1 down from my home in Cornwall , uk through the west coast of France to Spain and beyond . Thanks.
Hi Derby10. We meet many cyclists from England that took the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff to start on Eurovelo 1. You won’t regret your trip, the Velodyssee/EuroVelo 1 is a very nice, easy and scenic journey. Good luck and hope to see you on the road one day.
@@2Bikes4Adventure really appreciated, great reply , thank you , liked and subbed , going to make a huge cup of coffee and review your vids , for ideas when lockdown is over 👍
As usual, a fenomenal video, just how it needed to be: very informative, well made and to the point! Thank you so much. We’re planning on a few domestic trips here in Belgium, and this information will help me. Luckily I do have the C-bag (was last one in stock at my Brompton dealer), and I have an older Ortlieb bag, which is waterproof, and can be fitted standing upright. Some smaller bag like Gilberts at the handle is maybe another extra!
Hi Jan. In our next video, we will discuss DIY solutions to reuse some those old Ortlieb bags. See you soon. PS We suspect January is not ideal weather to cycle in Belgium (need those Orlieb (and some Merino wool!))
excellent graphics. dont know how you do it .. but very well suited and very well done. hope you do well in the affiliate program and perhaps other sponsors. etc..
I would love it if Brompton made a bag that both fits on the front block and also doubles as a two strap backpack. I like to travel light and it would be helpful to, when necessary carry the Bromy and not have the awkwardness of a single strap. I love your detailed presentations and follow all your uploads. Thanks
I tried all the bags shown (apart from the T and C Bags because they don't fit with the S-handlebar) in a store and I had my decision to buy the Metro Messenger Large Bag and the S Bag as both fit my commuting needs and they had a lot of space to store my clothes and had a sleeve for my laptop (unlike my Basket Bag)
SUGGESTION: 2Bikes4Adventure might want to check out Ibera's Mini Commuter Bicycle Carrier Rack. I had it on my trail bike and discovered that it mounts perfectly on the seat post of my Brompton. Its light, inexpensive ($30), and easy to attach or detach. Even more important, it gets you into Ibera's extensive set of quick-release bike bags, which cost less than their Brompton equivalents.
thank you for all the well-made videos. We really learned a lot from your videos but we settled for a Brompton clone, 3sixty and we're really excited!! Out of curiosity, what editing software do you use to create such beautiful and easy-to-understand graphics/animations?
Hi Melissa. The best bicycle is the one that bring pleasure (and excitement), no matter the brand or type. We are using Keynote to create the graphics/animation then import the result into iMovie for final editing.
You could also use a handheld weighing scale which has a hook, your bag can be suspended from this hook mid-air. In this way you should get an accurate reading
Started looking through some of your videos and they provide a wealth of knowledge for someone thinking about touring on a Brompton. Where do you stay as I dont see you carrying any camping gear. The obvious advantage is you can carry a lot less and enjoy the comforts of a roof over your head. Probably the best way for someone starting off . Do you book AirBnb ahead or are you more flexible regards accommodation? Thank You.
Hi Stephen. We are indeed “credit-card touring” (no camping). This keeps our baggage light and ensures a hot shower and a warm bed at the end of each day (usually through a pre-booked accommodation prior to departure). You may find more details in our video: th-cam.com/video/gUIWFdUnWwk/w-d-xo.html
I love your videos!! Very visual and informative. Quite in the way, I would deal with these things because I'm a pedant. Anyway, thank you! I don't have a Brompton but I'm dreaming to have one for already a year now. Unfortunately, Brompton doesn't have a distributor nor do they ship to Ukraine...
I tried to buy a C bag today, then I realized the bag I bought in December, 2013 ,is a C bag. I found the receipt, and an insert that was dated 2010, It also has a Radicaldesign tag sewn on the inside pocket. Do you know if Brompton changed the size over the years. You reference having Two of them. and I think you have mine as well. When Pam is wheeling her luggage in your last video she appears to have a bigger C bag, then the one Gilbert is opening and giving a thumbs up sign (Grey and silver with a clear plastic business card sleeve- the one I have and used as a Brief case to go to work with). Never thought I could live out of Brief Case for a week! Eagerly anticipating Pam's Dry Canadian response to that one, or you can let Gilbert give it in French, I married a Quebecer!
Hi Jonathan, In fact, we see 3 generations of C-Bag in the video (2 belong to Pam and one belongs to Gilbert). The oldest one, made by Carradice (06:50) had a zippered top flap, single layer fabric and was attached to an all-metal frame. A newer version by RadicalDesign (05:07) was introduced about 10 years ago (that’s probably the one you have). It has a plastic/metal frame, yellow lining and a Velcro flap (with a zippered pocket). It’s slightly roomier (and expandable) than the old Carradice version. The latest C-Bag (07:05), still made by RadicalDesign, has some minor improvements (bigger rear pockets and dedicated stow-away rain cover pockets,…), but is basically the same interior size. Yes, a C-Bag is sufficient (for us) for a 1-month “credit-card” touring trip. PS “Bonjour/HI” to your spouse !
Brompton rain cover (Large) are available in some locations (10 GBP in UK). Alternatives would include regular backpack rain covers from Amazon or Decathlon (less than $10US).
The Brompton rack bag need not be removed to fold the bike. It just needs to be unfastened from the rack and swung over the top tube while still being attached to the seatpost

Brompton do make the Metro Backpack Medium, but it’s rather small for long distance touring (17L)
