I've heard the laundry thing. It was New Years Day, 2012 and I, being as am old and have no life, was doing my laundry. My mum called me to wish my a Happy New Year and asked me what I was up to "Oh, just a bit of cleaning and catching up with my laundry" I replied. "What?" she exclaimed "You _know_ you're supposed to do that!" You'd think I just told her that I was going to have a bath and put my toaster in to keep me warm. "Since when has that been a thing?" I asked her (I was 38 at the time and it was a new one on me) "Since forever! 'Wash someone in, wash someone out!'" By which she meant that by doing my laundry I had both caused a family member to become pregnant and doomed another to die. The thing was, at the time my grandma, her mother, was 86 years old and battling cancer, so obviously she was worried about her. In 2013 my Grandma finally passed away and about a year later my niece became a mother. Much as I love my mum, who is normally a rational, intelligent person, I could easily see her never forgiving me if these two events happened in 2012.
