Hey thanks for posting a thoughtful review of this car! I am impressed with the new Ford Explorer platform and i like how practical it is for everyday drivers and for weekend thrill seekers. Ok, gotta love that water fall!! Nice touch. Great review as always. I am looking at SUV's. My husband is a Ford guy. I love Chevy, but I must admit this Ford looks pretty good. I have always loved Ford's spaces in their trucks and SUV's. My husband and I appreciate the head and leg room. :). Great job!!

Thank you! I really don't have the answer for your questions about the rattling and MyFord Touch, but Consumer Reports does a good job with these details. I guess you have less to worry about if you lease these days.

its ridiculous that i just spent 1.5 hours reading different sites and then found this video... great review! do you know much about the durability of this vehicle? i'm worried about rattling starting to develop, or MyFord Touch just going out on me.

Depends on what you are looking for. I have yet to test the Santa Fe - but I would think the Ford gives you more space. I will let you know when I get my hands on the Hyundai!
I love it. But it's too small to replace my Ford Expedition. Any recommendations besides a new Expedition? I got the latest model already but it's a 07 and getting lots of miles.
I said like an early mid-cycle refresh and I didn't forget about the third engine option I just went with the two mainstream choices. I'm surprised that you didn't point out that I inverted the MPG numbers @ 1:08 lol thanks for watching my vid. Tony

Great review of a great car - easily paired Bluetooth for cell phones, audible Sirius radio - Tune, Sirrius, Elvis! Auto tailgate opening and closing and more tech features I can believe! Was an easy pick over the Pilot, Yukon for the money!

I like them both. The Durango is sweet! Not sure if the Explorer has the V8 Option.
hmmm - the CRV is a solid small crossover. So if you need something for 4 adults and you won't be hauling lots of cargo - it will do you well. It's also a Honda and they are bullet proof in terms of reliability. The Explorer on the other hand is a large crossover SUV - has more of a truck feel and has true seating for 7. You'll pay a bit more for the Explorer if you want to trick it out and it'll also cost you more at the pump. I'd say - test them both @ the dealer
I've tried not to think about the Journey lol - years ago I rented one when it was first released and I hated it. I hear that they have really improved it though so I have to test a new one to be honest with you.

Nice review. Well done. I enjoyed it. I found a '13 on a lot with 32k miles, red w/ tan interior and it looks right off the line. Not a scratch.

+haidar lafta I believe you have to hit the lock button first - then hold down the auto start button.
cause I have a2002 Chevy trailblazer Ltz I have had no issues got it with a 60000 now has 130000 but no issues so I hate to give her up what would you do

Junior might not like that speed/volume control from the parents but that cargo space will make up for it when he is on those dates!

Before looking at Acura MDX 2014 I was happy with Acura RDX 2013, but the new MDX looks appealing. I am someone who is interested in Tech and 2WD. A californian

well, I found couple of things I don't like
1 ) when raining the side windows create a reflextion of the side mirror and cause the small mirror on it to distort the view
it can cause confusion .. 2)no hydraulic hood

Yeah...Good review on the 4runner, I got the '13 SR5 trim. 3rd row no a/c air vent that's the only complaint on it. Other than that a great real SUV.
what do you think about the dodge journey?
NAV is an option. I didn't have it on the model that I tested

snowdad hey there! They are both good choices. I have a good friend who has leased 3 pilots and swears by them. I would probably lean towards the pilot if you are buying and in it for the long haul, but if you plan to lease - the Ford will probably give you more tech and luxury options for your buck. I'd test them both - but I'd be happy with either of them!

Hey there - sorry for the delayed response. I'd have to say that the MDX will give you the space, luxury and tech that you are looking for. I have yet to actually review one - but I know a few owners and they swear by them. Since you love the RDX - stay with Acura! ;)
