Depends on your strategy. The Kampfer was a pure terror weapon, designed solely to produce diversionary chaos. Very effective against unarmed civilians unused to war, and small children screaming 'BAAHNEE! BAAAHHNNEEE!'. Against Federation mechas? Well, not so. The Kampfer is clearly under-armored and under-armed, and in fact under conventional projectile fire goes to pieces so fast the operator is just as likely to be killed by his own shrapnel. Never intended for a straight-out fight, this weapon will survive so long as it keeps moving and does not engage its enemy; unfortunately in the hands of an alcoholic psychopath and showboat like Misha, this does not happen. If you're the one delegating the operator, you'd do well to pick the least valuable member of your team, considering him cannon-fodder at best. Ironically, that's probably how Colonel Killing saw the entire Cyclops Team, which is why they all end up dead in the end.
@@Etherdave I'd have to disagree on multiple fronts here: For starters, Kampfer was never at all under armed. It carried two shotguns, two bazookas, a chain mine, two beam sabers, and two sturm fausts. Your average mobile suit had half of that armament at best. Second, this suit was built to be lightweight for the purposes of hit and run attacks. The modular build was chosen so that it could be disassembled, and smuggled behind enemy lines, then reassembled. What brought the Kampfer down was a pair of absolutely massive (90mm) gatling guns built into the Alex's forearms at relatively short range. I'd wager virtually anything not made of Luna titanium would have been shredded to pieces. We already saw how effective the shotgun used by Kampfer was on mobile suits not made of it. We know they are effective in general as a similar model of said shotgun was used on other limited production high performance suits. I wouldn't call Misha a psychopath. He was angry, and determined to complete the mission the rest of his team died for. He essentially lost his brothers, and with no way off colony without completing his mission he figured he'd go out blazing. That said plot was the reason he lost more than anything else, as he easily obliterated multiple GM Sniper 2's and those went directly to the hands of veteran pilots. It also doesn't make sense to put the least valuable member of your team in the most expensive mobile suit that requires the most combat experience to fully utilize. Every member of Cyclops team was a veteran, and we'd already seen their first attack on a federation base to cement that.
Fun fact: The bazooka that comes with the MG Kampfer is almost the same size as the one that comes with the HGUC Rick Dom II - despite the scale difference and the fact that they represent the same weapon... I think the ones with the HGUC Kampfer are a little smaller... The weapon was a bit on the small side to begin with - but I think the HGUC versions come across as a bit oversize. Honestly I haven't entirely worked out my feelings on the matter.
@123asd1 Kämpfer was a prototype, there was only one made. Neo Zeon don't "build" Sleeve versions, they get still operating old MS and give them a new scheme. That's the same reason why we don't see GP02 Sleeves Version, Sazabi Sleeve's version ( this custom actually would be pretty badass ) and others
Henry this is my favorite kit that you ever built, just because I got to see all the work you put into it. Its great to see that it still looks just as awesome from the first time you reviewed it. BTW, I would love to see you film an entire lets build of a kit and speed up the footage. Keep up the good work.
OOOOOOOOOOOHHH I remember when u did the build/paint for this kit like it was yesterday! IMO one of the best build series I have yet to see. Too bad youtube had to take those videos down :(
a tip for the loose knee screws, try putting a tiny amount of glue on the screws then let dry then assemble knees worked really well for me hope this helps others!! cheers keep up the good work henry you are a legend!!
i like this unit my last name before my family moved over here from Germany was Kampfer now its Kaempfer so i feel sad everytime i see a kampfer destroyed in the series Q~Q
Hi vegeta, so i just got into spraypainting my kits with krylon, what kinda spray paint did u use for this one i wen to walmart but only blue they had was sea blue wich is more of a greenish blue and dark blue
man if you havent make another video of this maybe I would still stuck deciding what MG to buy, amazing job. I think march will be a good month for gunpla with the new releases, myself can wait for MG+ banshee
Henry can you do a Review on some of the Gunpla weaponry that you can get. For instance I purchased the Dragon Momoko brand "United Sword" which comes with 4 "A" runners and 2 "B" runners (the standard set only has 2 "A" runners & 1 "B" runner). I put some of them together and it feels like a pain trying to get some of the pieces to stay. And theres some pieces that to me feel completely unnecessary. I'd like to hear your thoughts on them in a quick video.
i think i know y youtube is taking down this specific Review...u know theres an Anime Titled Kamfer,i subbed someone who uploaded the anime & got taken down,so youtube might be confusing ur review for the anime without checking the contents...& OMG that sheet u called dry tranfers,i thought they were water-slides..like i'm new to building Gunpla..i already finished 3HG's & 3MG's,wanted to detail my MG Shin Musha..didn't know the difference what were Dry Tranfers & water-slide decals
hi, vegeta, i have a question, does the joint of this kit use alot polycap ?? or just the plastic gap ?? sorry my oldest kit is F91 which mean came out in 2006 and that kit is mostly plastic gap joint. Beyond 2006 or older kit, i have no information regarding their joint construction, hope i can get ur reply and thank you.
thomas kok use of no polycap is an improvement. Makes joints tighter. Polycaps tend to not work as much especially on bigger or top heavy mobile suits.
TH-cam: "ZOMGness, you're using a word in your video that someone else used one other time in the course of human history! You're defrauding the whole world! TAKE IT DOWN OR TEH UNIVERSES WILL END!!123!!@!derp!!%#one!"
This kit truly deserves a 2.0. One of the best designs Zeon ever employed.
Yea totally mate
well every zeon MS must get 2.0 or fresh engineering

You can, but it is by no means required. I would suggest NOT gluing them, as they have a detailed inner frame, which can be interesting to show off.
That last frame made me smile
scarlet team flagged the video, that's why
I had a really nice Kampfer action figure back when Gundam toys were available in the US. It was an amazing toy, I never stopped loving it.
nice kit, i'm thinking about getting it
Why did they take down your videos?
they are very usefull and helped my friends how to paint their kits?
is there a way to see them again?
a tip for the loose knee screws, try putting a tiny amount of glue on the screws then let dry then assemble knees worked really well for me hope this helps others!! cheers keep up the good work henry you are a legend!!
Love that shade of blue you used, great paint job
i like this unit my last name before my family moved over here from Germany was Kampfer now its Kaempfer so i feel sad everytime i see a kampfer destroyed in the series Q~Q
The paint looks amazing, almost like real metal :D.
Id kill for a 2.0 with a LED unit for the mono eye
Hi vegeta, so i just got into spraypainting my kits with krylon, what kinda spray paint did u use for this one i wen to walmart but only blue they had was sea blue wich is more of a greenish blue and dark blue
hi sir.. what paints did you use on this awsome kit? how many coat? can you share it to me? please?
man if you havent make another video of this maybe I would still stuck deciding what MG to buy, amazing job. I think march will be a good month for gunpla with the new releases, myself can wait for MG+ banshee
I've kept this kit in the box for a long time. Maybe it's time to take it out :)
Obviously another great video, The only good thing that came out of them taking down the old ones is that now you have this really nice HD video.
What a beautiful paint job
Hey what paints did you use for the metallic silver and the light blue (brand name and color serial code or specific color name)
watched this review multiple times, only now I notice this; good job on pronouncing Kämpfer! it's correct!
Looks like TH-cam didn’t wanna invoke Henry’s wrath
its a shame neo zeon didnt use this mobile suit like the dra-c and other one year war suits, we may have gotten a sleeve version
New p.bandai coming out for this guy...guess a 1.5 will be later...just like the dom...gonna be good with the 2.0 alex.
Thank youuu for re-doing this I never got to see ur full review beause of it being deleted and such
@poik12 Oh, you're right, was reading his Wiki page before and didn't notice the E part, thanks for the heads up :)
Hey man! What paint did u use for the blue?
It might have something to do with video of the japanese model building show, where they spend an episode building and painting a kampfer
Paint job is beautiful, god damn
@jtdfger2 But they got that from the German word for soldier(?) and this came before the anime.
@poik12 I can't think of any suit be more badass with sleeves, imagine... Gerbera Tetra Sleeve's version,... the possibilities are endless!
lovethis suit !!!!!!!! we need a 2.0 !!!!!most dissapointing use of a ms in any series, shame it got destroyed sooo easily o_o

bondoi 2.0 plz
What color paint did you use for the blue and weapons? Thanks!
How do you paint these? With airbrush? Or brush? Got a how to video ?
This my favorite MS from Zeon, correct me if I'm wrong.
Why would anyone correct you? That's your own opinion and you're entitled to it.
collegerebel Thanks! Just trying not to offend the hardcore fans out there.
Relax, this guy's a fan favorite if I'm not mistaken. I certainly like it :)
Same and me too. :D
***** Always been my favorite also, Even though his battle was short lived, he's still a spectacular MS.
i think they take it down mistakenly because of the kampfer anime series which is a really "sexy" type anime and i think they just make mistakes.
one of my favorite mobile suits
There is an anime called Kampfer so it might have something to do.
there was an anime called kampfer, they might be deleting them for that
One of the very few Zeek suits I will ever buy.
hi, vegeta, i have a question, does the joint of this kit use alot polycap ?? or just the plastic gap ?? sorry my oldest kit is F91 which mean came out in 2006 and that kit is mostly plastic gap joint. Beyond 2006 or older kit, i have no information regarding their joint construction, hope i can get ur reply and thank you.
thank you very much the that info, not sure why F91 is latest than kampfer yet mostly all the joint are plastic gap instead of polycap
thomas kok use of no polycap is an improvement. Makes joints tighter. Polycaps tend to not work as much especially on bigger or top heavy mobile suits.
when'd they stop using screws in Gunpla?
looks good, and good review too
I wish i was as good as painting as you vegeta
Does the cockpit open? I thought i saw a mechanism for it when you were showing the inner frame and i dont remember you mentioning if it did or not
maybe they took it down because of the word kampf in kampfer
Is this the 1/100 scale?
Hey vegeta u can pass the secret of this amazing paintjob colors brand marks pks :)
Here is another one. Prime92 showed me this one. Look at The-O's chest. It looks like a bird head. No joke.
Eh ill wait on a rg version
That's all I can see now.
Every time I see a Kampfer's chest, I see a frog..
Kampfer was fully armed before it was cool #Hipster.
Damn, now someone needs to make a Kampfer pic with hipster glasses and some captions xD
@poik12 that wouldn't *
TH-cam: "ZOMGness, you're using a word in your video that someone else used one other time in the course of human history! You're defrauding the whole world! TAKE IT DOWN OR TEH UNIVERSES WILL END!!123!!@!derp!!%#one!"
MG+? my bad it was MG :o
So. Beautiful.
the kampfer's chest looks like a frog
Thelnly suit so ba it had a shotgun
NIce review :)
Damn you....
shiny :o
NOOOO!!!!
Please Stop!!!
The color is too bright and not realistic. You should use metallic sky blue with some shading techniques to reflect the realism. Anyway, good review.
HAHAHA!!!!
XD
