If the Kampfer had a better generator, it probably could've afforded to take more beam weapons, have more armor, and still have enough excess energy for it's powerful thrusters. In that scenario, it would've likely put up more of a fight against the Alex, and potentially even won.
It also would have been a hell of a lot harder to smuggle in and assemble, and probably would have just punched a hole clean through the colony, especially considering its pilot was on a drunken rampage at that point lol. As much as i love it, i think that was a fight the Kämpfer was destined to lose.
One thing I like about the Kampfer is definitely the backpack, you carry around two bazookas on your back AND it functions as a jetpack. The prototype's machine gun is pretty cool
One thing that always confused me, was why the Kämpfer supposedly had a "limited" operation time. The Gelgoog had comparable performance (despite having more armor) and a higher emphasis on beam weaponry, but from what I could gather, didn't have the same energy/fuel consumption problems. The only other Mobile Suit I could find that had a limited operation time was the Gogg, and even then, that was only on land (because it relied on water to cool its thermonuclear hydro-jet engines).
Well it did have many thrusters throughout its body. From shoulders, chest, waist, and feet most likely but having that many thrusters on the body will consume much of its fuel if it kept going in burst of speed or full on thrust. That may be one reason, it is like a hit-and-run style MS for all the weapons its packing and how maneuverable it is. Its reactor/generator(forgot the name) is pretty high up there with many other suits, so it still have enough sustainability. Fuel is one of the major problems it can have, like I said before how it has many thrusters. One thing that couldve benefited more for the Kampfer was thicker armor.

I've always been a fan of the Kampfer (I pilot one in Gundam Breaker 3), even with its shortcomings. I view it as one of Gundam's most distinctive contributions to a basic tenet of armored vehicle design: Speed, firepower, protection. Pick two.
With the abundance of beam weapons later on in UC, maybe some reflective coatings could compensate for the thin armor. Maybe make it out of top shelf armor?
There was a another appearance of the Kampfer, in a Victory sidestory but it wasn't used in combat while it was with some other machines that were being stored for future use.
Not a bad video, but there is one thing you get wrong. The "YMS" prototype models are almost always more powerful than their less expensive mass production counterpart. Also the Kampfer E variant had less armor to make it lighter and faster, but also to make taking it appart and putting it back together simplier. It's purpose was not specifically to fight inside of colonies, but to be smuggled behind enemy lines, assembled, and ready to launch a surprise attack on a high value target. In War in the Pocket, that target as we all know was a Federation Mobile Suit, the Gundam Alex. Other than these detaiks which granted aren't easy to find, this video is pretty good. Hail Zeon.
I know I am most likely wrong.. But in my heart I felt like the Kämpfer was reborn as the AE Gerbera Tetra (which also found its debut to be horrific) only to lead AE to be redesigned into the Sinanju from a scaled down version of Sazabi. I might also add that I think the whole Kämpfer development was just an extension of the ill fated Zudah. This is just a development timeline that is just speculation. I think most of this is just based on mechanical designers that span 20+ years of being in love with the Kämpfer's design; wanting to bring it back in some form.
The Gerbera Tetra was originally the Gundam Gerbera and while the high speed part they have in common, it was also more of a general purpose assault mobile suit. Sinanju is also a very general purpose mobile suit which gets it's routes from data acquired on both Nu Gundam and Sazabi. It was only meant to be a test bed for gathering data for Unicorn, and was likely not meant to serve any other function outside of that for the Federation unfortunately. I like that you mentioned the Zudah, but it was developed by an entirely different company from the kampfer. The Zudah was designed and produced in limited batches by Zimmad company who would later go on to produce the very successful line of Dom mobile suits, as well as the hygogg, Gogg, and Gyan. I really am bummed out that there was never a Zudah Mk 2 to restore the Zudah's name.
2 G's in UC79. That explains why it's covered in engines. And how it was able to fly along like that. I liked the Kampfer a lot, but I rarely remember it when I think about War In The Pocket.
This suit has a lot of untapped potential. Imagine if someone managed to find the blueprints to rebuild the Kampfer with upgraded parts and a newer, more powerful reactor, plus late UC beam weaponry.
And now we have ground adapted MS-18E Kämpfer called "Titania", that operated during the last days of Zeon Ground Forces, defending Zeon's Cape Canaveral Base.
I'd love a gunpla of that Prototype Kampfer, at least if they can execute the gun right. It reminds me of the custom Gelgoog High Mobility Type from the Missing Link game.
Given the second one mentioned, the beam type, was the 'F' type, and the first was the 'E' type and the seriously modular nature of the Kampfer I'd be half tempted to just say that that was load out 'E' similar to how the omni-mechs from battle tech often have "common load outs" that are denoted by letter rather than any other changed to the model number since they aren't factory refits and don't require any special retooling. Of course I don't really have any evidence for that, just a thought.
let us not forget the Kampfer amazing. Though only a customized model of the Kampfer, I feel like it is what the Kampfer would have become if given the proper time to tune it.
think more realistically is that the designation MS-18 is homage to M18 hellcat which is a ww2 tank destroyer with paper armor that also what the Kampfer is known for.. But also its incredible speed and mobility of the M18 also shine which pretty much like the Kampfer. For the E designation, this is something to argue. But if you see the MSM-07E which Z'GOK E is basically stand for Experimental... that is a reference for 0080 MS..... and so probably is a Experimental MS.
I'd always been under the assumption that it was the E-type because A through D were already taken. I'd always read that every Kampfer built after the first was modified for a specific mission. They were all one shots, essentially. This lines up with the F-type having no correlation between the letter F and anything in its load out or name relating to it.
One thing that always confused me, if a Beam Rifle uses an E-Cap for ammo then why does it matter how strong the reactor is? I can understand for recharging it on the battlefield like Beam Sabers, but did it really take until 0094 to make a Beam Rifle with a magazine?
@@barrybend7189 I would imagine this is all in the Beam Rifle, also they never show anything special on the hans to transfer the energy to the weapons.

I want a war story, not a super hero story.
@@animenut69 the closest we get are the full cgi animated zeon experimental case files, though these series are of questionable quality since the CGI is older and lower quality to many of today's standards (I'm fine with cgi mobile suits, but cgi characters that are done up in cgi look weird to me, would prefer more traditional animation).
Keep up the videos like this I so enjoy them.
This could have a new version
RF kampfer is a thing.
This is my all time favorite & imho, best zeon Mobile Suit.
There was a another appearance of the Kampfer, in a Victory sidestory but it wasn't used in combat while it was with some other machines that were being stored for future use.
Please bandai, GIVE THIS KIT A DAMN REVIVE.
Been loving both the gundam lore and development history series so far and wonder when the gm will get its video if at all
Gorgeous suit, wish there were more variations
CON: poor armor
PRO: you can cook a hamburger with it
Imagine the engineers having a seizure because you demand that they have to stamp an MG42 receiver the size of a bus.
I would love to see your analysis of the Efreet. It’s probably my favorite Zeke suit in the gravity well.
Thats the biggest mg42 i have ever seen being wielded by a Kampfer
Oooh, when are you gonna update this to include the Titania?
Still my favorite Zeon designed suit. It just looks so good.
please do Ez-8 development, this also a quite interesting machine 🙏
2:36 sonic the gundam
Thank you the Kampfer is also a favorite of mine. Love the history of this
It’s my favorite mobile suite and can imagine gunpla battling with it!
Ahh, the Kampfer. The undeniable proof that no matter how much ass a Zeon suit kicks onscreen, Zeaboos will _still_ claim it was done dirty.
Einschlagen = to smash in, Einhauen doesnt even exist so I ll just hope that they meant experimental.
The Kämpfer is one of my favorites of all time!
I'd love a gunpla of that Prototype Kampfer, at least if they can execute the gun right. It reminds me of the custom Gelgoog High Mobility Type from the Missing Link game.
Love these videos!
when i first saw that thing, my thought was, thats not a zaku, hell its not even a gouf, it nearly destroyed me
Being considerate of beam weapons causing damage inside a colony...what a concept *stares at Gundam Seed*
4:49 I take this to be the "Prototype Kampfer Cannon"....or it could just be the Kampfer Cannon.
Every Zeon fan's favorite classic MS.
Iam a the only one who love the Zeong?
@@grimmerjxcts2206 No, there's a reason why they still selling it. I like the SD version.
CAN WE PLEASE HAVE A VIDEO ABOUT UNIVERSAL CENTURY MOBILE ARMOUR DEVELOPMENT HISTORY ?
let us not forget the Kampfer amazing. Though only a customized model of the Kampfer, I feel like it is what the Kampfer would have become if given the proper time to tune it.
Interestingly we now have a picture of the beam weapon type with the new G frame kit that came out
The kampfer got a frikin mg42
I mean, also, friends don't let friends pilot drunk.
think more realistically is that the designation MS-18 is homage to M18 hellcat which is a ww2 tank destroyer with paper armor that also what the Kampfer is known for..
My top fav grunt suits along with Gelgoog Jäger & Geara Zulu
One or two showed up in Encounters in Space. I can't recall if it was in the Blue Destiny missions or the RX-78-6(?) Mission, though.
I finally found the video I’m looking for
I'd always been under the assumption that it was the E-type because A through D were already taken. I'd always read that every Kampfer built after the first was modified for a specific mission. They were all one shots, essentially. This lines up with the F-type having no correlation between the letter F and anything in its load out or name relating to it.
The Kämpfer looks so cool.
The original Kampfer and the Kampfer Amazing is entirely different mobile suits
Love this kind of Gundam lore video.
When you source all your points in attack.
One thing that always confused me, if a Beam Rifle uses an E-Cap for ammo then why does it matter how strong the reactor is? I can understand for recharging it on the battlefield like Beam Sabers, but did it really take until 0094 to make a Beam Rifle with a magazine?
Basically the E cap is a capacitor but needs a set amount of power to essentially push the capacitor to release.
@@barrybend7189 I would imagine this is all in the Beam Rifle, also they never show anything special on the hans to transfer the energy to the weapons.
@@DeamonChocobo there are hand plugs. Usually they just feed basic power to allow the "trigger" and targeting computers to function. Other than the capacitor release. By UC 100 most MS power their weapons through the hand plugs giving them unlimited ammo.
@@barrybend7189 ok, I never see this stuff mentioned or in diagrams/line art so it always confused me.
@@DeamonChocobo yeah SEED is the only one to use hand plugs in a more open way as very few MS can wield all the weapons.
