Rebooted It’s story and immersive world full of deep, interesting stories and characters expanding on the already huge Star Wars universe made it memorable for me, not to mention the soundtrack! I agree with gameplay wasn’t brilliant, but everything else was pretty spot on. 🙂
Rebooted nah, once you understand it, the combat is super engaging. Also the dialogues and exploration are sublime, and I played this game over a year ago, so no nostalgia goggles here.
2003 is my favorite year of gaming. So many classics that left their mark. Devs spending their heart and soul in their craft when they can do whatever they want without much publisher meddling.

They got it digital buddle for PS4 and my bro finished the series (except the car one) in about 2 months which considering he works 40-50 hrs a week, has 2 kids, and a wife says a lot about how much he loves the series.
I definitely have nostalgic feelings for some of these games but I'm sure lots of them still hold up. At the time these games introduced lots of new ideas. Jak 2 was one of the first dark narrative driven games for me. But it also bridged the gap between kids games more adult themes. There are plenty of adult games since the dawn of time but not that many franchises grow with there audience.
We have high expectations for games that try to immerse you like racing/fps/open-world BUT in the case of platformers i can't help but feel it is different. Its more down to the creativity of the devs and the theme but i don't think im explaining it well. Basically if the old platform formula from circa 2003 was revived i would buy into it all day long. In contrast if they produced a new gta with the same possibilities as 3 or a new COD as basic as COD1 then no i wouldn't.
Freedom Fighters was amazing & I have fond memories of playing it. I wish they’d do a new one... also speaking of Freedom, make a new Freedom Force! Also... they missed Freelancer which was 2003. I would’ve placed it in the number three spot (with WW & KOTOR staying where they are) because Freelancer was _incredible_ & seemingly underrated.

This was definitely one of the earliest massively open world game that I played with all the traversing the seas. It blew me away during the first playthrough. I was a bit bitter with the art style at first but still gave the game a chance. The style quickly grew on me during my first playthrough. lol

Def Jam Vendetta was the game that made 2003 for me. I remember my friends parents went away on holiday for 3 weeks leaving him home alone so all of us boys literally lived there for the 3 weeks smoking hash and playing def jam every day , life was much simpler back then it was great.

Oh man, The first to midnight club racing games were so fantastic. I remember I saved up my money and bought the first one within the first couple days of it coming out and was blown away. The second one was just as good.
So glad Jak finally got what he was due, hate that for the most part he's been forgotten even though he was the Mascot of Naughty Dog's first story driven game

I always thought that would have been cooler because we could have more games where jack goes back in time to building Haven city. Maybe he could alter the time line and stop the city from being a shit hole.
Wind Waker, NFS Underground, and Simpsons Hit and Run hold such a HUGE spot in my childhood I absolutely adore all three of those so much. I’ve never got to play KOTOR but I absolutely love Star Wars. It is worth going back for bc I’ve been thinking about it for a while
If you like star wars lore you should play Kotor. It might look and play dated but I would say the story is more memorable then any other star wars game including fallen order. That one might be fun to play because of next gen graphics but nobody talks about the story to others because it's just like another average story.

Jak 2 also had a huge difficulty spike from the first, I remember getting stuck in some areas and just giving up for the day. Its the game that introduced me to rage quitting lol
Same, I remember playing that game on the hard mode where you had to do that rail sequence in a cannon. You had to defeat about 70 enemies without dying and you couldn't restore your health either. I completely hit a wall on that part.
I loved Jack 2 and 3, but I always wished they’d stayed more true to the first one. Eco powers always seemed cooler than guns to me. So many games have guns. Maybe it’s because I’m a Texan with a lot of guns IRL, but I’m burnt out on video game guns lol. The first Jack and Daxter just seemed more original to me. And I always prefer a lush / tropical world look compared to a grungy, urban-slums look. That being said, they were all great. I still hope for a Precursor Legacy remake or a Jak 4 more similar to the original.
Wow I totally agree on Freelancer! What a marvelous game! I never was huge fan of simulation or flying games - but Freelancer was something totally different and enjoyable! I really wish they do reboot on Freelancer!
Wow, 2003, I was in highschool. I miss playing games, had a lot of great times taking turns with friends playing Jak II, and oddly, my dad bought me Max Payne 2--weird considering he disliked video games.
RATCHET AND CLANK 2?! The ps2 R&C games were the best, but many regard R&C2 as the best of the best. Improved on nearly every aspect of the classic first game, making it a near perfect sequel.
And pertaining to thIs video I'd say it's certainly better than Jak 2. I think Jak 2 won the popularity award here, as R&C 2 aka Going Commando's gameplay is a step up imo
undead fodder UYA was great no doubt, but it was a little rushed and wasn't as good in some aspects as the first 2 games. Tbh I love all the first 3 games equally, but objectively I think GC is the better sequel.

Max payne 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I played it since I was 5 years old and I managed to finish it more than 20 times. The gameplay was so amazing. The graphics look good for something that came from 2003. The characters were very good. The story was so amazing and also the reason why I like this game is because of the ragdoll physics. Just amazing.
Man now I want Kotor 3! 😭 Nice list mate! I remember back when Kotor 1 was released I was in highschool, playing it, choosing action so I don't go too deep to dark side, discovering the story! That story twist, watching cinematic - it's still one of my top 10 start wars moments in life! Even today I have a few walls rotating on my cell - Bastila is on one of them! 😀

Totally underrated game from this era.. ENTER THE MATRIX on ps2.. I played and beat that game more times than a few. Wall-running and slowing time was so satisfying! I know itll never happen but I totally want a remaster.

Metal arms:glitch in the system was released in 2003 and honestly is probably one of my all time favorite games. I’m playing through it again right now and it still holds up very well. Never got enough love. Everyone should go check it out and hopefully get enough hype to finally release a sequel.
2002-2004 games are my go to when I need a mood boost, especially MC2. It was the peak of decent graphics, AI and good story telling. After that stories got shorter to accommodate better graphics then multiplayer took over.
Porsche Unleashed. Those were the days. I remember having a simple stupid wheel (2 pedals, no shifter, combined as a flight controller too), but it made it soo much better!
KOTR is my favorite on this list. And while I'm not a LoZ fan, I did find copies of Wind Waker and Four Swords Adventures in pretty good condition at a resale shop. At $5 each, while I'm not a fan, even I can recognize how valuable they are. I might try playing them eventually.
I'm super glad KotoR made number 1. That game was amazing! Definitely my favorite starwars game. I love love love Battlefront, but knights makes the cut. Also, I LOVED crimson skies! I beat it twice! Sad to see no mention of Deus Ex: Invisible War though. All of these games were amazing. This list just brought back so many memories for this '97 kid. Dark Alliance on Xbox was always a great game. My brother and I would play it non stop. I don't remember ever beating the game though. So I should hop back on it and finally understand what was going on and beat it! That one came out November 2002 though so it wouldn't have made this list, however I did play all the listed ones in the video and couldn't help but think of Dark Alliance through the whole video. Another one was Jet Set Radio Future. That game was so memorable to me for some reason. It was also a product of 2002. BUT a 2003 game that didn't make this list but was also a great game for me was Voodoo Vince!! Check these games out, guys. You won't be disappointed
South Park: TSOT got a lot of praise for being an accurate representation of South Park when it was released. But I think the Simpsons Hit and Run not only did it better, but came out first 💯

Immersion is harder to experience with all todays distractions.

So glad Jak finally got what he was due, hate that for the most part he's been forgotten even though he was the Mascot of Naughty Dog's first story driven game
Jak and daxter are some of the worlds best games period
not that it'll ever happen at this point but I've always hoped that one day they'll finally make a jak and daxter game, there's deffinatly more story to be told.

@@soulreapermagnum hell yes. I mean there was a "jak 4" but it wasnt made by naughty dog and I dont accept it as cannon. If we start from 3 hell yeah theres anything they could touch on. The lore of those games was so big and the different factions all that stuff. I'd fucking love if they remade all the old ones and then started from there and do another trilogy

For the longest time I thought Jak WAS Mar. But I did the research and hes just a descendant of him. I always thought that would have been cooler because we could have more games where jack goes back in time to building Haven city. Maybe he could alter the time line and stop the city from being a shit hole.
Wind Waker, NFS Underground, and Simpsons Hit and Run hold such a HUGE spot in my childhood I absolutely adore all three of those so much. I’ve never got to play KOTOR but I absolutely love Star Wars. It is worth going back for bc I’ve been thinking about it for a while
If you like star wars lore you should play Kotor. It might look and play dated but I would say the story is more memorable then any other star wars game including fallen order. That one might be fun to play because of next gen graphics but nobody talks about the story to others because it's just like another average story.
I didn't realise it at the time, but I played like half of those games growing up and damn, I had some kickass experiences doing it. Wish more games could do what these did now.
Jak 2 also had a huge difficulty spike from the first, I remember getting stuck in some areas and just giving up for the day. Its the game that introduced me to rage quitting lol

Same, I remember playing that game on the hard mode where you had to do that rail sequence in a cannon. You had to defeat about 70 enemies without dying and you couldn't restore your health either. I completely hit a wall on that part.

That mission where you had to leave the water slums with the piece of the seal of mar. Oh boy was it hard.
It had lots of tuff spots. That one hover boarding mission was stupid hard.
I remember accidentally deleting all of my brother's progress on hit and run after he stayed up playing it until 3 am. I felt so terrible

Socom II was the very first shooter I played online. That game was put together so well and insanely competitive.
I loved Jack 2 and 3, but I always wished they’d stayed more true to the first one. Eco powers always seemed cooler than guns to me. So many games have guns. Maybe it’s because I’m a Texan with a lot of guns IRL, but I’m burnt out on video game guns lol. The first Jack and Daxter just seemed more original to me. And I always prefer a lush / tropical world look compared to a grungy, urban-slums look. That being said, they were all great. I still hope for a Precursor Legacy remake or a Jak 4 more similar to the original.

Wow I totally agree on Freelancer! What a marvelous game! I never was huge fan of simulation or flying games - but Freelancer was something totally different and enjoyable! I really wish they do reboot on Freelancer!

Wow, 2003, I was in highschool. I miss playing games, had a lot of great times taking turns with friends playing Jak II, and oddly, my dad bought me Max Payne 2--weird considering he disliked video games.
RATCHET AND CLANK 2?! The ps2 R&C games were the best, but many regard R&C2 as the best of the best. Improved on nearly every aspect of the classic first game, making it a near perfect sequel.
And pertaining to thIs video I'd say it's certainly better than Jak 2. I think Jak 2 won the popularity award here, as R&C 2 aka Going Commando's gameplay is a step up imo

undead fodder UYA was great no doubt, but it was a little rushed and wasn't as good in some aspects as the first 2 games. Tbh I love all the first 3 games equally, but objectively I think GC is the better sequel.
I loved to play Freedom Fighter as kid. One of my favorites.

Max payne 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I played it since I was 5 years old and I managed to finish it more than 20 times. The gameplay was so amazing. The graphics look good for something that came from 2003. The characters were very good. The story was so amazing and also the reason why I like this game is because of the ragdoll physics. Just amazing.
Man now I want Kotor 3! 😭 Nice list mate! I remember back when Kotor 1 was released I was in highschool, playing it, choosing action so I don't go too deep to dark side, discovering the story! That story twist, watching cinematic - it's still one of my top 10 start wars moments in life! Even today I have a few walls rotating on my cell - Bastila is on one of them! 😀

Totally underrated game from this era.. ENTER THE MATRIX on ps2.. I played and beat that game more times than a few. Wall-running and slowing time was so satisfying! I know itll never happen but I totally want a remaster.
CoD 1 was and still is my favorite of the series.

Metal arms:glitch in the system was released in 2003 and honestly is probably one of my all time favorite games. I’m playing through it again right now and it still holds up very well. Never got enough love. Everyone should go check it out and hopefully get enough hype to finally release a sequel.

2002-2004 games are my go to when I need a mood boost, especially MC2. It was the peak of decent graphics, AI and good story telling. After that stories got shorter to accommodate better graphics then multiplayer took over.
Im still playing Need For Speed Underground :D It's one of the best NFS games ever.

And while I'm not a LoZ fan, I did find copies of Wind Waker and Four Swords Adventures in pretty good condition at a resale shop.
At $5 each, while I'm not a fan, even I can recognize how valuable they are.

I'm super glad KotoR made number 1. That game was amazing! Definitely my favorite starwars game. I love love love Battlefront, but knights makes the cut. Also, I LOVED crimson skies! I beat it twice!
Sad to see no mention of Deus Ex: Invisible War though. All of these games were amazing. This list just brought back so many memories for this '97 kid.
Dark Alliance on Xbox was always a great game. My brother and I would play it non stop. I don't remember ever beating the game though. So I should hop back on it and finally understand what was going on and beat it! That one came out November 2002 though so it wouldn't have made this list, however I did play all the listed ones in the video and couldn't help but think of Dark Alliance through the whole video.
Another one was Jet Set Radio Future. That game was so memorable to me for some reason. It was also a product of 2002. BUT a 2003 game that didn't make this list but was also a great game for me was Voodoo Vince!! Check these games out, guys. You won't be disappointed
South Park: TSOT got a lot of praise for being an accurate representation of South Park when it was released. But I think the Simpsons Hit and Run not only did it better, but came out first 💯
