Mafia 2 for sure. It still looks and feels like something that came out this year, when it actually came out 10 years ago. The graphics, the gameplay, the physics, everything is solid and undeniably way better than Mafia 3

@Barrack Obama Vlogs What PC? People only _just_ got the damn start screen to partially load up on PC a few months ago because MGS4 was specially made for PS3's awful proprietary CPU. Pretty similarly Crysis was made on the gambit that CPUs would stay with 4 cores but be going at 10ghz by now.

nah, cmon...doom 3 looked like crap even back then with those absurdly low resolution textures...especialy when you compare it to Half Life 2. It was badly optimized also...had no troubles with HL2 but doom 3 runned like crap

To this day I don't understand how they made Doom 3 run on 64 mb ram SHARED between the system and video. Definitely the best looking game on the original xbox.
1:53 Having done a lot of game modding, I have to say that the Source engine's vertex animation system (used for facial expressions) holds up *staggeringly* well. Even with Half-Life 2 being the first game on the engine, they could really get away with having the camera right in characters' faces without it looking off in the same way as a lot of other games. While the shaders and textures are pretty limiting these days, the models can actually move really well.
Yeah those were the days. I'm not saying all games made today are complete shit but most are rather made with less creativity and seem to copy other games(especially battle royales). Gears 5 is an example of this and that can be seen from watching the trailers.
Still is to be honest. All light is pre-rendered, but despite being technologically unimpressive, it allowed the game to look amazing without needing a lot of power. Just like the Resident Evil Remake in some ways actually.
My PC Crashed when you got to the section on Crysis. Apparently my PC can't even watch video of Crysis. The audio started stuttering and i started laughing i thought it was a joke in your video.
Yes!! I tryed to run Crisis 3 on Max, bc they told me when i bought my 800$ desktop at Best Buy, That it would run battleship 3 on max with the special 200$ graphics card installed.. well, It did run Battleship 3 on Max AMAZINGLY.. So my dumbass figured it would also run Crysis 3 on max.. So I did, and about an hour into playing, I had to use the default hdmi graphics card to even view desktop from then on... yes it fried my G card.. that was around 7 years ago.

Even the 8800 I bought could not handle the game it included itself on High!

GTA IV has better physics then V. Least my car won't blow up every time it lands on its side. Hitting people is funny as shit too. And sometimes when you shoot someone in the face they don't die rite away. Their eyes blink and kinda wander around then roll back and then they die. Also bloody foot prints. The fighting is also better in IV. I just wish they added the new Jersey countryside/woods in IV idk why they took it out because the 3 island just isn't big enough
for me it's graphics go to comparison with call of duty titles of the same year, although a very solid game. Optimization problems holded it back for me tho
@@holycrusader3336 nah, man. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 doesn't look so good compared to Killzone 2. But, it was at least at 60fps, and Killzone barely reached 30fps.
Far Cry 2 was awesome. The fact that I could design my own multiplayer maps and upload them to host public matches on was incredible. The graphics were so immersive and detailed.
I played GTA 1 on PSX when i was on vacation at the beach because i was not old enough to enjoy the long boring walks my parents enjoyed to do. I guess i'm old now am i?
The Metroid Prime Trilogy. Those games had so much attention to detail. The effects on the visor really helped it hold up well, even by today's standards.
In the year 2019 I still play the Gamecube version of Metroid Prime with progressive scan cables. It honestly looks better than some games being released now.
Halo 3 doesn't hold up as well (don't hate me. I'm one of the biggest Halo fans, but I can still criticise the games) because to get AI processing and other systems to function at peak, they dropped the graphics demand a bit (you can see it on Johnson especially), but I agree, the art style made it a game you couldn't put next to any other game and think it was the same thing.

Can't believe you overlooked Killzone 2. I was expecting it to be number one. Animation, lighting and particle effects were jaw dropping and still blow me away even today.
It's a list of graphics that hold up in modern day . So yeah Crysis should be no.1 because no game comes close to Crysis and how crazy level demanding it was .

I have to find some time to play it again as I really didn't enjoy it when I finally got around to experiencing it several years ago. I find the first one to be the best, despite how limited it is versus its successors.
Also, i'm still impressed by Farcry 2's AI. It still is IMO the smartest and most aggressive AI that I have ever encountered. Dozens of reinforcements appear almost by magic and use vehicles and terrain to their advantage like real soldiers would. The fights were constant struggles for survival and the most satisfying combat I have experienced in any game like it. Oh yeah, and someone made a mod that removes the Malaria mechanic...so go grab it and play it like it was meant to be played!
Silent Hill 2 still looks awesome after almost 20 years. It's amazing how well everything is modeled and textured when you bump the resolution with PCSX2.
I remember feeling like an absolute god playing Crysis on full details in 2008, it was amazing. Unformtunately since then i haven't been able to afford a new computer :D
RE4 still looks amazing, they did such a great job at capturing that rural iberic creepy atmosphere. I'd even say that it looks better than Resident Evil Remake
the silent hill games from the ps2 era still hold up damn amazing, the art style is beautiful to look at, and the hd mod of silent hill 2 for the pc it's outstanding.... another game that holds up is max payne 1, yeah the faces are weird but everything else still looks good! shadow of the colossus too, damn there's so many man, black for the ps2 is another one, the dmc games and yeah those are my favorites!
Zone of the enders 2 on ps2 ! For a 2003 game, with all those ennemies, special effects, gorgeous lights / colors during battles... Plus in a game being that fluid and fast... Man, those graphics were and to me still remain MADNESS !
yeah, resistance 1 blew me away, people acted like gears of war was great, and maybe in some ways graphiclly it might be, but the sheer number of enemies on screen and the fights :> Going down one elevator and seeing a entire room full of dozens of aliens was incredible, far cry 2 is my favorite far cry, I don't have the new ones, but I loved how atmospheric the first one felt.

Most of these games are 7th gen, so they still hold up well for that reason. Finding 6th gen games that still hold up today (Gran Turismo 4) is the real list to do.

to be hones, the guys at EA did a pretty dank job with need for speed underground 2. People might not agree, but the level of detail on them cars still amaze me.
Honestly, although Halo CE and 3 might obviously not have "good" graphics today. The art style sort of makes them timeless, and if they released today it could be seen as an aesthetic
I love Far Cry 2 man, definitely my favorite, FC3 is good but the 2 will always hold a special place in my heart. The missions were a little repetitive tho, that's the only thing I don't like about it

Halo 3 doesn't hold up as well (don't hate me. I'm one of the biggest Halo fans, but I can still criticise the games) because to get AI processing and other systems to function at peak, they dropped the graphics demand a bit (you can see it on Johnson especially), but I agree, the art style made it a game you couldn't put next to any other game and think it was the same thing.
Can't believe the 2010s are about to end.

Can't believe you overlooked Killzone 2. I was expecting it to be number one. Animation, lighting and particle effects were jaw dropping and still blow me away even today.
I personally think the first gears of war game was a technical masterpiece during that time and it still holds up to this date.
Man, the 'Mad World' commercial for that game gave me chills the first time I saw it.

For me, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker does not look as old as it is. I mean, the artwork looks gorgeous even with a mild HD texture for the WiiU!

I have to find some time to play it again as I really didn't enjoy it when I finally got around to experiencing it several years ago. I find the first one to be the best, despite how limited it is versus its successors.
Also, i'm still impressed by Farcry 2's AI. It still is IMO the smartest and most aggressive AI that I have ever encountered. Dozens of reinforcements appear almost by magic and use vehicles and terrain to their advantage like real soldiers would. The fights were constant struggles for survival and the most satisfying combat I have experienced in any game like it. Oh yeah, and someone made a mod that removes the Malaria mechanic...so go grab it and play it like it was meant to be played!
Silent Hill 2 still looks awesome after almost 20 years. It's amazing how well everything is modeled and textured when you bump the resolution with PCSX2.

the silent hill games from the ps2 era still hold up damn amazing, the art style is beautiful to look at, and the hd mod of silent hill 2 for the pc it's outstanding.... another game that holds up is max payne 1, yeah the faces are weird but everything else still looks good! shadow of the colossus too, damn there's so many man, black for the ps2 is another one, the dmc games and yeah those are my favorites!

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker holds up graphically for many of the same reasons as Team Fortress 2, namely the simplicity of its art style.
And i remember the yelp from many sides as Nintendo revealed the first Screenshots.

yeah, resistance 1 blew me away, people acted like gears of war was great, and maybe in some ways graphiclly it might be, but the sheer number of enemies on screen and the fights :> Going down one elevator and seeing a entire room full of dozens of aliens was incredible,
far cry 2 is my favorite far cry, I don't have the new ones, but I loved how atmospheric the first one felt.

"Behond good and evil" 2003 has aged the best of all 2000-2010 games for me. Just the story/atmosphere/sound design still gives me goosebumps today.
Crysis graphics alone obliterates the other games on the list, I mean even with ultra settings is still best looking than the other games remasters; it should've been the number 1

I remember Amped 2 being one of the games I was hoping I wouldn't be getting for Christmas. When I did, much to my dismay, with the particular soundtrack list I curated within the game, it became a magical experience that I wish I could relive. It does look worse than I remember, though...

Most of these games are 7th gen, so they still hold up well for that reason.

to be hones, the guys at EA did a pretty dank job with need for speed underground 2. People might not agree, but the level of detail on them cars still amaze me.
Honestly, although Halo CE and 3 might obviously not have "good" graphics today. The art style sort of makes them timeless, and if they released today it could be seen as an aesthetic

Far Cry 2 were hell af I never felt safe during the whole game, my favorite is Far Cry 3 but the second was so unsettling all the time, I loved it
I love Far Cry 2 man, definitely my favorite, FC3 is good but the 2 will always hold a special place in my heart. The missions were a little repetitive tho, that's the only thing I don't like about it

@Ayy Yo Yes it does hold up, you are wrong. I only had a demo of NFS Carbon for years on my Xbox 360 and never bought it until last year when I found out that it continues the story of. Most Wanted. Carbon Definately holds up, I still play it to this day.
