Kind of funny, I got sims 4 free last year, but never play it until I tried it last month. And wow it's good one. I played Sims 2 like crazy in the past, and kinda dislike sims 3 direction, that's why when I got sims 4 for free I didn't try it right away. But I was wrong, Sims 4 is kinda more like Sims 2, and I love it. And yes, the mods amazing, they make it deeper.
Tbf, it's easy to misread the title and to imagine seeing a *the* and an *s* , that's all you need to think this video would be about *the 2000s* Considering the amount of *of the decade*-videos that went online in the past few months it's somewhat sensical to expect a gaming-channel to "top it off" in a way by going the extra mile / a decade further back. Almost everyone is capable of astonishing levels of misreading text.
It was the game that introduced me to gaming in general. And to tell you the truth, it's still my favorite game. Before playing it, all I had was a dreamcast with a few games. I didn't play it a lot, because I wasn't even that interested in gaming, because back then I used to see video games as just a good waste of free time and that's it. But when I got the OG Xbox with Halo CE. I was literally addicted to playing it every day. Completing the campaign on legendary, beating it again in coop with my brother, playing splitscreen with friends and participating in LAN parties. This game literally got me into something that I didn't know I would be still addicted to to this day.
I knew I was getting an Xbox for christmas that year (2001?) but I had to buy my own game. I bought Halo a full month before I got to open my xbox and I had that fucking manual MEMORIZED by the time it came out. It was like nothing I had ever played and I owned a PS1 and a PC. Halo was like Web 2.0 - these was no going back after that.
I have lovely childhood memories of Diablo II. My dad played it and he sometimes let me play his character for a time. And then I got old enough to understand the game and play on my own. It was just great.
@Jacob Dawson I've played for a year. Im a 13 years old girl. Let me just say, Diablo 2 is awesome. Everything about it is great. I really like the sorceress because her magic is so powerful. She's also the one who can teleport. She is so good at magic finding lvl 85 areas or anywhere really. I'd rate her 10/10
I was only 11 back in ‘00, but me and my boys LOVED us some Perfect Dark for a while there.. Glad to see it get some recognition somewhere.. (Even if it was the very last honorable mention lol)
Remember how the guns used to remain after each round finished and you'd run back and try retrieve yours only for someone else to get it before you.. good times
My all time favorite game (next to Dragon's Dogma) is Vagrant Story for the PsOne which came out in February of 2000. The graphics were so great for the time & the gameplay was amazing!
To this day Oblivion is still one of my favorite games of all time. Chilling with my dad, taking turns playing and helping each other find chests remain some of my fondest memories.

Spyro, Tekken 3, GTA 2, Tomb Raider III, Syphon Filter 2, Unreal Tournament, Crash Bandicoot, MediEvil, Driver, Tomba!, Resident Evil 3, NFS High Stakes, Toca World Touring Cars, 24h LeMans, Gran Turismo 1, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy VIII.... these games were my fav :)
I remember when me and my friends used to play Red Alert 2 in the internet cafe , man those were the days . Also who could forgot Mahvel vs Capcom 2 BABY , speaking of , it will be main game this EVO for 20 Year anniversary .
I've been playing Diablo 2 for 20 years, and still do to this day, I have d3 as well but I don't think the dev team behind D3 had the same approach as David Brevik and team, let's hope D4 works out better
Majora's Mask was my favorite because it was much darker, creepier, and it was the first game I played where NPCs had a schedule and didn't just stand in one spot, so it really drew me in and immersed me. The time system didn't bother me, but I learned how to slow time down. There were also a ton of side quests, stories and secrets. The game was just a perfect follow up from OoT which I also loved, it kept that unique OoT feel, expanded on it and gave it a dark twist. It also required that expansion pack which made it seem more awesome.
I shed a tear when he mentioned FFIX... So underrated! I was extremely hyped when I saw it was available on Steam, and could continue this awesome adventure on a modern console
I believe it's on the switch someone told me it was trash so I never got into the series the only final fantasy games I ever played was tactics because I was always a handheld gamer due to one TV in my household growing up. Should I check out the series now let me know!
THPS2 was amazing, played it every chance I got at my friends house since I only had a PC at home. And we played so much Perfect Dark and Smash Bros, a group of friends packed into a room around a 12 inch tv lol
Gotta say for me personally the entire timesplitters franchise was just such an experience to play I mean when was the last time you got to play as a snowman assaulting a space station with a minigun the wackyness nature of the game is what made it so fun and I hope THQ Nordic get it remastered soon!!
I remember watching my cousin play CS as well as Diablo 2 for the first time when I was child and remembered my wonder and awe it what games were like. Definitely a fond moment
My first thought when seeing this video! Have played it so much throughout the years. Playing all modes that weren't the story was probs a precursor to counter strike for me. Do yourself a favor and play w/ mouse and keyboard!!
wow almost brought a tear to my eye bringing up PSO... also i know it came out in ‘99 but Quake 3 Arena was huge in 2000. that’s what they were playing at my first gaming tournament.
Nox. Absolutely one of my favorites of the year 2000. Some claim it was just a "diablo clone". Some people are idiots. Nox had amazing gameplay, amusing characters, and just a fun story overall. Highly recommend!
I never got to try Nox, tho goodness knows I saw plenty of it go through the shelves of the used software boutiques before it was all game stop and blockbuster and what have you. I'll for sure try it though, now. As for the claim that [Nox] is a Diablo clone, I have personally witnessed the idiocy of someonew saying that Diablo III is a 'bad remake' of Diablo. Now if that's not stupid irony IDK what is.
So many amazing games released in 2000 but among my favourites are Deus Ex, Diablo II, C&C: Red Alert II, The World is Not Enough, FF IX, RE: Code Veronica, Marvel vs Capcom 2, THPS 2, Metal Gear Solid...
I lost my mind with the sims and i still play cs 1.6 to this day. Been playing it for almost 15 years now. I even had a copy of 1.3 i believe.. the version where speed limit was not yet present on a CD.
3:15 - 3:22 . . . Gotta love the moms eh Jake? There were days I'd be searching all over the place like a mad man for my psp only to find it in my moms purse after she returned from work. With Lumines in the disc bay. Battery completely drained. 😤 Stay blessed team Gameranx 🙏
Official list - Ah, Gran Turismo 2. I remember playing that, and I actually still have my copy. I recall playing for maybe 8 hours STRAIGHT, to get the A, B, C, D, and E licenses. When I saw there were more licenses after those, I said "Screw that." It took me way too long to get that license on Laguna Seca where you go through 2 really sharp turns, and you failed if your tires went off track, at all. I had a '69 Camaro SS, I think, that I loved. I liked FF9, but never actually beat it. For the bonus list - RE: Code Veronica was an awesome game. It's the reason I finally broke down and bought a Dreamcast. C&C Red Alert 2 was an amazing game. I had it and the expansions, and loved them all. There were so many interesting and unique levels, in that game. I dearly loved the level in the Soviet campaign where you started out with one Yuri clone, and your objective was to mind control the US President. I also liked the level in the Soviet campaign that takes place on the moon. Honestly, my favorite part of that level was a unit acknowledgement for the Soviet Cosmonaut. "Gravity? What's that?' I enjoyed the fact that each individual country in the conflict had their own specialty unit. The idea of sending units into a building a garrison in that building. The building had to collapse and be destroyed before the people cane out of the building. Hell, you could even garrison a friggin' outhouse or porta-potty. How cool was that?
Gothic and Gothic 2. Still the best games to ever come out for me. Gothic had a world and atmosphere which are still unmatched to this day. It was a big deal over here in Germany and east Europe. It took a radically different approach to rpg's in that you are a no one. You aren't special, no grand hero just a regular guy nobody cares about and that is why you are literally called the Nameless because nobody wants to know your name. This was my gem from the 2000's
Yes! This video is amazing. Final Fantasy 9 is my favorite final fantasy game! What a classic! Oh my gosh and fantasy star was so much fun! My dad couldn't get enough of Counter-Strike and my grandparents played The Sims. I remember playing Majora's mask and it being one of my favorite Zelda games of all times. What a wonderful year of gaming! Thank you so much for this video, It really took me back. ❤️ Please do more of this
Legacy cain soul reaver 2 and blood omens 2 was my shit back in the day. I was to young to understand what was going on but the whole feel of the game had me hooked
Whew THAT WAS MY YEAR! I lived 10 years of my life on Phantasy Star Online (dreamcast, xbox, through to Phastasy Universe) I was surprised to see it on here. I cant believe Space Channel 5 and JetSetRadio wasnt on here because I still to this day love and will play them. OMG i can't believe you added Code Veronica. I'm still a Sims (sims 4) player too. I played 1-4.
As someone living in a third world country, CS and The Sims were the only game that existed for me. Personally though, I grew up with Virtua Cop and Virtua Fighter 2. Man the memories
It didnt age well, this is a problem with older gamers, the nostalgia makes the old games better, and there is nothing wrong with that, but most games from the 90s and early 00s are unplayable from the perspective of newer gamers, i never found anything from that period,except pokemon, that was enjoyable

My god, I still remember the day when I was introduced to the world of The Sims. I forgot how to sleep for a week. I even got sick (ironically) and was able to play until I fell asleep in front of the screen...
I remember working at toys r us in those years. We had trouble keeping stadium and Tommy has 2 in stock. I remember having to fight with parents though to buy the memory expander for the n64 if they were buying perfect dark. All those returns because they didn't want to spend on that expander....
He's talking specifically the year 2000, not the "2000s" decade. Otherwise, hell yeah Kingdom Under Fire! I legit bought an original Xbox just to play Crusaders, had loved Heroes as a kid but never played that one.
Other than The Sims, my favorite game from that year was Majesty, a PC fantasy rpg simulation game. Played the heck out of that. Never completed all the missions, but had lots of fun replaying it recently after buying on Steam.
2001 had SOCOM and GTA III can't wait to see what you guys pick for that year. The game I remember fondly off this list is THPS:2 The school was my favorite level and Guerrilla Radio was my jam.
This list makes me remember a demo for a game I played on a old pc. I don’t remember the game or the pc but I remember on the same computer there was a demo for a tomb raider game that had skeletons in it. And now I can’t get the other game out of my head until I find out what it was. It was a shooter and from the bit of the demo I played it was dark. I was very young.
Lets just say if i had to play diablo 2 the rest of my life i wouldnt be mad that game was great no matter how i playd if it was pvm or pvp that game is great in general would recommend to anyone
Sad to say I only completed it for the first time last year. The original is a game I still play to this day. Interesting to see which is my favorite in a decade's time.

@@fleetwoodsoup7443 Lmao you're not alone, I played all of gta 5 story mode like 7 times yet haven't finished vice city, and for san andreas I played when I was a kid and didn't really understand so never beat the game even now I would play like just to roam around and never get around to playing it fully.
Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game. I have fond memories of it as a kid growing up. I was on my way out of elementary and about to enter to middle school. I use to phone an older cousin of mine whenever I got stuck. We could spend hours talking on the phone, much to my parent's disapproval, since it was long distance and at the time that shit was a little expensive, lol.
I just finished my first playthrough of Final Fantasy IX (I'm 24) and as someone who played ff12 first, 9 does seem like a love letter to final fantasy 1 through 8
Marvel vs Capcom 2. Cant remember if it was 2000 exactly but i remember playing this beast in the local arcade around that time. The machine was surrounded by everyone and it was so hard to get a game in but man it was so awesome to the first one.

I still play CS Source to this day. I really miss version 1.5 with the Fusion Pack skin mods. Those were awesome days.

Ah, Gran Turismo 2. I remember playing that, and I actually still have my copy. I recall playing for maybe 8 hours STRAIGHT, to get the A, B, C, D, and E licenses. When I saw there were more licenses after those, I said "Screw that." It took me way too long to get that license on Laguna Seca where you go through 2 really sharp turns, and you failed if your tires went off track, at all. I had a '69 Camaro SS, I think, that I loved.
I liked FF9, but never actually beat it.

RE: Code Veronica was an awesome game. It's the reason I finally broke down and bought a Dreamcast.
C&C Red Alert 2 was an amazing game. I had it and the expansions, and loved them all. There were so many interesting and unique levels, in that game. I dearly loved the level in the Soviet campaign where you started out with one Yuri clone, and your objective was to mind control the US President. I also liked the level in the Soviet campaign that takes place on the moon. Honestly, my favorite part of that level was a unit acknowledgement for the Soviet Cosmonaut. "Gravity? What's that?' I enjoyed the fact that each individual country in the conflict had their own specialty unit. The idea of sending units into a building a garrison in that building. The building had to collapse and be destroyed before the people cane out of the building. Hell, you could even garrison a friggin' outhouse or porta-potty. How cool was that?
Gothic and Gothic 2. Still the best games to ever come out for me. Gothic had a world and atmosphere which are still unmatched to this day. It was a big deal over here in Germany and east Europe. It took a radically different approach to rpg's in that you are a no one. You aren't special, no grand hero just a regular guy nobody cares about and that is why you are literally called the Nameless because nobody wants to know your name.

Whew THAT WAS MY YEAR! I lived 10 years of my life on Phantasy Star Online (dreamcast, xbox, through to Phastasy Universe) I was surprised to see it on here. I cant believe Space Channel 5 and JetSetRadio wasnt on here because I still to this day love and will play them. OMG i can't believe you added Code Veronica. I'm still a Sims (sims 4) player too. I played 1-4.
As someone living in a third world country, CS and The Sims were the only game that existed for me. Personally though, I grew up with Virtua Cop and Virtua Fighter 2. Man the memories

It didnt age well, this is a problem with older gamers, the nostalgia makes the old games better, and there is nothing wrong with that, but most games from the 90s and early 00s are unplayable from the perspective of newer gamers, i never found anything from that period,except pokemon, that was enjoyable

I remember working at toys r us in those years. We had trouble keeping stadium and Tommy has 2 in stock. I remember having to fight with parents though to buy the memory expander for the n64 if they were buying perfect dark. All those returns because they didn't want to spend on that expander....
majoras mask needed it too, most of the late 64 games did. technically you didnt need it for perfect dark but you did if you wanted the full game

Other than The Sims, my favorite game from that year was Majesty, a PC fantasy rpg simulation game. Played the heck out of that. Never completed all the missions, but had lots of fun replaying it recently after buying on Steam.
My favorite Zelda game is Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Perfect Dark is one of the best games of all time.
2001 had SOCOM and GTA III can't wait to see what you guys pick for that year. The game I remember fondly off this list is THPS:2 The school was my favorite level and Guerrilla Radio was my jam.
This list makes me remember a demo for a game I played on a old pc. I don’t remember the game or the pc but I remember on the same computer there was a demo for a tomb raider game that had skeletons in it. And now I can’t get the other game out of my head until I find out what it was. It was a shooter and from the bit of the demo I played it was dark. I was very young.

Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game. I have fond memories of it as a kid growing up. I was on my way out of elementary and about to enter to middle school. I use to phone an older cousin of mine whenever I got stuck. We could spend hours talking on the phone, much to my parent's disapproval, since it was long distance and at the time that shit was a little expensive, lol.

Marvel vs Capcom 2. Cant remember if it was 2000 exactly but i remember playing this beast in the local arcade around that time. The machine was surrounded by everyone and it was so hard to get a game in but man it was so awesome to the first one.
