    I have an older 9900k with DDR4 still and a Noctua D15.
    The first / front fan I took the bottom bracket off and ziptied it to the 5.25" cage (yes my case is an old one). CPU temps are virtually the same still as there is still the middle fan on the D15 while having good coverage over RAM. Got my CL15 3000Mhz RAM kit to CL14 3600Mhz + secondaries etc.

    • @toonnut1
      @toonnut1 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 8000 tuned ram is 40° max with that mini fan. Only while using tm5 it's much lower at stock. So not bad a maximum temp of 40°c

  • @OneCosmic749
    @OneCosmic749 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those fans were made through whole DDR3 era, i don't even know any DDR3 which would actually need a RAM FAN for daily OC usage besides some OC records settings whereas DDR4 B-DIE needs it a lot and also DDR5. Weird that manufacturers didn't notice the need for a new RAM FAN.

    Hey Jufes, could you also try replacing the thermal Pad of the RAM stick while keeping the original Heatsink ?
    The comparison between "Stock vs New Thermal Pad vs Aftermarket Heatsink" could be very interesting.

    • @gozutheDJ
      @gozutheDJ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the whole point of this is so you don’t have to take the heatsinks off at all

    • @gozutheDJ
      @gozutheDJ ปีที่แล้ว

      but yes you could, but you might not see much benefit because memory heatsinks are designed for looks not actual performance

    • @VincentDM1
      @VincentDM1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gozutheDJ Yeah, I meant, for the next video. As he plan to replace the Heatsink.
      I personally like the design of G.Skill Trident Heatsink, but I've also read that having no Heatsink at all is sometimes better (especially with good airflow).
      So just curious if replacing the Stock Thermal Pad while keeping Stock Heatsink would be a nice option for both Aesthetic and Performance. I don't expect a big improvement though.

    • @gozutheDJ
      @gozutheDJ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VincentDM1 yeah you’d likely see some benefit, bc the stock thermal pads are always junk pretty much
      so id expect you’d see some benefit moving from whatever it comes with which is probably a pad with 6 w/mK thermal conductivity to a pad with ~20 w/mK conductivity

    • @FrameChasers
      @FrameChasers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can only do it with the Kingston sticks or sticks that have screws attaching the plates, most stock ram uses double sided thermal tape so you have to glue the sinks back on, it’s messy and not worth it.

  • @Wollmütze-l5w
    @Wollmütze-l5w ปีที่แล้ว

    My case fans turn on at 60 Celsius CPU temps. 3 fans in the front and 1 in the back. The CPU cooler fan is running allways and blows enough air around to cool the MoBo and RAM down. Even if showeling just air around in the case, the CPU fan gets enough air moving to cool off things. I have the AM4 system. The 5900X processor however has to be undervolted in order to maintain it cool. On stock the 5900X hovers around 68 degrees Celsius and all the fans are running all the time annoyingly noisy. So undervolting to 0.1 Volts maintains the CPU below 50 degrees Celsius most of the time.

  • @garfieM.-uu3kw

    if you dont put two fans on the front of the case shouldn't the heatsink fan be positioned on the side of the heatsink so that it faces the fronr of the case and pulling air in, or should the heat sink fan be positioned facing the exhaust to push the heat out the back?

    I think the RX 6000 platform has matured to a point where it isn’t the rolling of the dice when you update your drivers, also COD Warzone is my main game and AMD usually punches 1-2 GPU tiers higher their class.

    I'd like to ask anyone who is heavy into tweaking a couple of questions involving how they tweak the power to computers & their parts. I know if with electric motors lowering the voltage to an electric motor will cause the motor to draw more current that will cause the motor to generate more heat crippling an electric motor's life span.
    Are the computers & parts being provided with more power than they need for some unknown reason, & decreasing their voltages does not increase their current draw but lowers it?
    Does anyone measure the devices current draw to see if their adjustments decrease or increase the device's current draw increasing the device's heat generation?
    Because if they did measure the current draw with a Current Meter, they'd be able to tweak a device to hopefully it's sweet spot & do no harm with ease.
    All they'd need is a Current Meter that measured down to the milliamp, & know where to test from while tweaking. If anyone does do this on TH-cam I've never seen it done, could be I've missed those videos being posted, anyone ever see it done or know what I am asking being asked before?
