    Much appreciated for all the info! I spent a good portion of the day today trying to find any 13900KS vs 14900K comparisons that were out there. • @moist_ointment
    @moist_ointment ปีที่แล้ว +11

    14th gen is just 13th gen + 1 years worth of improvements to manfuacturing (therefore binning). Slightly higher clocks at the same voltage. Enough dies hitting 13900KS levels of performance, that it doesn't need to be a low volume special SKU now. Less defects in chips, so you can bin out 8+12 as an i7. Meh

  • @ledooni
    @ledooni ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I have a binned 13900KS with a Unify-X which can do 8200 but I need too much voltage on the sticks to get that stable. Would be interesting if either binned ram or the new Apex (would've never even considered the white/silver-ish one) could get me even further but realistically I'm perfectly fine running 8000c34 at reasonable voltages. Wouldn't have ended up with such a great rig without your content, so huge thanks to you and the supporters!

    The 14900k is priced at the cost of the 13900k, it's 100MHz faster than the 13900KS and runs cooler, though will need some luck with memory controller it seems. If I were in the market now and didn't already have the 13900KS, I would go with the 14900k. That being said, I'm upgrading my 13600k to the 14700k, this was very interesting to see, great video.

    To help mitigate potential stability/degradation widely reported on flagship Raptor lake SKUs, I have changed a lot of my BIOS settings based on what I have watched and read. For my 13900k and 14900k I have done the following: MCE off, PL1 and PL2 limit to 225, limit P-core boost to 5.5 GHz and E-core boost to 4.3GHz, and use balanced power profile in Windows (although I do disable core parking to keep system highly responsive). Oh and just XMP on the RAM. I didn’t change LLC value. I have set voltage offset at a modest -0.015v and set the Core limit to 300 Amps. I have disabled the C6&C7 C states and EIST. Lastly I have locked AVX at 0 offset. I have tested on P95, CB R23 and CB R15. All great and in a mid 20 degree room, no workload exceeds 80c on package or cores. Very happy and benchmarks are very close to where they were before taming these beasts.

    • @whatafailedchannel3052
      @whatafailedchannel3052 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So, you’re telling me you’d trust someone’s tech knowledge because they wear gym gear? That’s laughable. A shirt with a supplement brand doesn’t suddenly make someone credible in tech reviews, and it’s a weak standard to judge expertise on. The fact is, tech specs and performance data don’t care about gym endorsements or anyone’s workout routine. Knowledge comes from years of experience, studying hardware performance, benchmarking, and understanding architecture. You need someone who can break down complex info about power draw, thermal throttling, and memory latency, not just look like they hit the gym.
      The reality is, those so-called “nerds” you’re dismissing probably understand way more about the 14900K than your gym-shirt-wearing TH-camr. Expertise is about knowing how the chip actually performs in different workloads and being able to compare it with legitimate data, not just looking cool on camera.

Also the 7950x3D is as valid as this P core e core bullshit that intel is releasing. The fact that the chips can run a higher ring speed and p core speed when disabling the ecores says a lot, but you're left with a glorified 8 core chip when you do that. You have 16 real cores on the AMD chip even if only 8 of them have 3D v-cache.

  • @Canarious
    @Canarious ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Asus is the one major brand that provides an SP score based on the parameters between voltage and clock speeds. Aka, how much voltage is needed to run the CPU at the desired clocks. Every CPU has a different score. This is why the term silicone lottery exists and how Intel cherry picks their chips for their sponsors. 1.433v out of box is a poor grade CPU with little to no room for stable overclocking/undervolting. I'm sorry my guy but you did not get lucky with this CPU. i9 CPUs are a gamble and for those willing to pay the cost for a potential golden ticket. Basically, do not consider an i9 unless you know how to contain it for stable use because chances are, it might not be stable out of box as advertised. May the odds ever be in your favor.

    The 14900K is product for a precise market segment, which would be owners of 12900K and a "filler" for PC wholesalers such as Dell and others. I am the owner of a 12900K and just upgraded to a 14900K and I am quite pleased with it. Tuned it to a daily driver of 6.1Ghz P-Cores and 4.5Ghz E-Cores. All this mega electrical consumption isn't that much of a problem if you set C-States to C0/C1. In games (Starfield) it bounces between 5.9 and 6.1 respectively with a consumption of 157 watts, not the 300+ everyone is saying. I was able to take it to 6.4Ghz but I don't have enough cooling (Not stable) but was able to get a Cinebench single thread score of 144 which beats AMD's upcoming 8950X. The way I see it you are getting 13900KS performance without the price plus they toss in APO and XTU(AI) bonus. P.S. This thing will hit a 1009 Score in single thread and 17886 multi thread bench in CPU-Z, I know its not the best benchmarking tool but its always fun.

    If, we have to blame someone, the order of severity would be:
    1. The operating system (which generates the excruciating BSoD/GSoD).
    2. The test applications (most of which are free, having the least trust).
    3. The games (which give the smaller errors if you know how to set them).
    4. Motherboards (where, overclocking the CPU and DDR5 RAM, plus adjusting the power [watts], current [amps] and voltage [undervolting, v] requires a lot of combinations until you find the right one).
    5. The hardware (CPU, RAM, cooling system, storage memory), which has the least fault, because their manufacturers warn users about the risks they are subject to, increasing the performance of the hardware, but, also, give them the freedom to choose options, without disastrous consequences; more recently, the microcodes (like 0x129 on CPUs) have reappeared and the warranty has been extended, with no further recall of the affected products. It (the hardware) should not be put on the wall, but, the first ones that have taste listed. Maxing out a PC build is going from agony to ecstasy and viceversa. 🖥️✨😎

    Since its still Intel 7, 10nm, to be honest I didn't expect this to be even worth an upgrade from my 12900k, lets wait another year for Meteor Lake benchmarks,... a ten potencially yet another year for Arrow Lake 3nm TSMC when things will hopefully get interesting to upgrade from 12900k DDR4 into DDR5 RAM worlds.... The main game for me is Escape from Tarkov, if you have time Jufus would definately welcome if you would add this game to BENCHMARK, you could get not just COD Bros but also EFT Bros on your channel. I was a COD Warzone player before, but I 100% switched to Escape from Tarkov and find it superior in enjoyment. It's very CPU limited game, my 4090 is getting 50-60% utilization so upgrading my CPU/RAM is still very tempting topic for me. I would love to see that 4090 maxed in 1440p Escape from Tarkov.

    I replaced it with 14900K. I had to disable IDBT because Windows had a BSOD at startup. It is also downgraded to 5.4 to make it work, but there are still sporadic BSODs. The motherboard is Asus Maximus Z790 Dark Hero. Another Processor to be replaced? 😬

      are you using the stock intel socket frame or did you replace it with like a thermal take or grizzly frame? those cpus bc of tvb (which i hate) and there mindset with these chips when they're being made is simple.. the instructions tell it under load say r23 for an ex "if theres headroom hold this clock speesld and boost the faverd cores by all means necessary voltage heat no matter the cost there is no retreat hold the frequency!" which if BIOS left at stock happens which they're designed to kinda impressive pulling stupid amount an of current and heat and being at tj max and between 90 and 100c not even thermal throttled point is unless you're going into the bios Turing on ln2 mode and running un godly vcore which i doubt then maybe a bad Mount or the mb is malfunctioning the fact this happened 2 cpu in row is very very odd. make sure you're cpu is seated properly in the socket and your cooler isnt mounted unevenly. if it continues my next guess would Be MB if again you aren't in the bios settings every voltage rail to the boards limit. if it does end up being the board do yourself a favor and get the z790 asus apex encore

      @@iDeparture The first set of Asus ProArt Creator Z790 with 13900KS lasted about a month. Then the processor degraded until it became completely unstable. The CPU mount was stock. Kraken Elite 360 RGB AIO cooling. Then I bought Asus Maximus Z790 Dark Hero and replaced the processor with 14900K. I changed the cooling to Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 ARGB. I replaced the CPU mount with a Thermalright Braket V2. The new processor worked stably for about two weeks on auto settings. Then the programs began to become unstable and BSODs became more frequent. Lowering the clock speed to 54 kept it running for some time. I bought a second 14900K processor. The same situation. A week stable on factory settings and degradation again. Lowering the clock speed to 55 again and it's stable for now, but this one will probably die too. I wring my hands and don't know what to do next. Now I'm waiting for another processor to be replaced. All other components were checked and duplicated several times. This is a computer with top components costing over $6,000, and I bought some of the components twice to have them for quick replacement and testing. Can I be unlucky enough to have three faulty processors? 😒

    Basically if you're running a 13900k overclocked, your wasting money to go for anything else that would amount to much of an edge in gaming. Even upgrading to a KS is useless and more expensive to get what, maybe 200mhz that won't amount to sh-t in gaming. Save your money for later better hardware that will blow this stuff away.

    Could you do a comparison between 14700k vs 13900k/14900k. I think its the only cpu worth checking out since it is the only new cpu worth testing. Price to performance comparison. Smaller cache less ecores 12 than the i9 16 ecoress since i dont see reviewers compare e-core scaling in gaming.

    • @saricubra2867

    My cooler is the LS720 but yeah...
    P.S. I already made the mistake so go easy on me.
    I am running the cpu with turbo on and let bios decide on limits. CPU package is running 93 degrees celcius and core temps at 75 to 85 while gaming.
    Lastly before you say the cooler is busted, I live in a very hot country where the daily temps can easily climb to 32 to 35 degrees c.
