    Dust your work surface and pizza peel with cornmeal before adding toppings. The cornmeal is more corse than flour and prevents sticking much better. It will also make the pizza much easier to maneuver in a stone oven. We make pizza in a brick oven at least every other week at my house, I promise the cornmeal makes a huge difference.

    I HATED using my pizza shovel thing, until I started preparing the pizza on a sheet of baking paper, and then slide the pizza shovel under the baking paper, and cooking the pizza on the pizza stone. The thin baking paper makes no difference to the crustiness of the bottom that I have noticed, but it makes it a million times easier to get the pizza on and off the pizza shovel 🙂
    If you want to, you can quite easily remove the baking paper after the pizza have been on the pizza stone for a short while.

    For the nut and such milks it's easier and probably cheaper to just use a really good blender and the filter with a linen cloth. You can make more, and then add sweetener of choice and pinch of salt. You can also use the pulp left for adding to cookies or other baked goods.

    Fun fact Tiktok taught me as a 41 y/o mom: measuring cups that are pourable (for liquids) and measuring cups (for dry ingredients) like used in this video with water are not equivalent. One cup of water in the pourable cup is equal to approximately 1 & 1/8 cups in the measuring cups for dry ingredients.

    For the pizza crust, use semolina for the surfaces. It acts more like ball bearings. Also, flour absorbs moisture almost instantly and gets sticky very quickly. Semolina doesnt get sticky so quickly.

      We actually use corn meal and it helps a great deal with the pizza dough not sticking to our pizza stone. We also never roll out our pizza dough. We “stretch it out gently” and gradually, as it is done in pizzeria. If it gives you that much frustration Chris, buy the pizza crust pre done and use all your fresh ingredients to make your pizza. Taste won’t be quite the same, but still yummy, fun for kids to help make and better for Daddy’s frustration level!😂

    I make oat milk in my Ninja with rolled oats & strain it in a fine mesh sieve. I add a pinch of xanthan gum to keep it emulsified, but it’s not absolutely necessary. I have texture issues, so I strongly prefer it. It keeps extremely well in the fridge for 4 days, but it looks (only looks, I promise) kind of curdled when added to very hot coffee. I never bought a plant milk maker because they’re super pricey. It’s much cheaper to buy even a nice blender for $100-150 that has lots of other uses.

  • @Henrika64
    @Henrika64 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Former pizzachef here - the surface beneath the pizza has to be floured really well and the toppings added pretty quickly so the dough doesn't have time to wet the flour. Be sure the doughs moves around freely before putting on any toppings. Also it would help if the surface beneath the pizza dough is stone or metal for better sliding. The movement with the "pizza shovel" has to be quick and firm - push it under the pizza but the last wee movement should be to pull it a bit towards yourself so the pizza slides on. Almost like tossing a pan but just without the wrist movement - keep it back and forth with a pizza. It both surfaces are well floured then you should have no problem with moving it. It does take some time and getting used to but I believe in you! 😇

    Chris' rage is so authentic and relatable regarding the pizza. I grew up with a pizza oven in the house... and the only way we could ever get it to work was build on the peel... or stretch out the dough & cool it down again so it's a bit more stiff when you pull it onto the peel. You have to pick up the edge and pull while you shove the peel under. It takes... practice.

    As an ex barmaid in the UK, hearing Chris saying Guinness is meant to be dump poured PAINED me haha. You’re meant to pour it slowly at a 45° angle 3/4s of the way full, then let it sit for a few minutes until the head forms and the bubbles all come up to the top, then if you’re using a tap, knock the tap back to fill slowly to the top. Using a can you just top it up very gently. Never dump pour a Guinness 🙈.

    A note from someone who has also failed at pizza for a long time! Make it in a cast iron. Heat the pan on the stove, with a tiny bit of olive oil and preheat the oven like normal. Drop the dough after it's been stretched into the pan, and then sauce, cheese, and topping as normal in the hot pan, then transfer the whole thing into the oven. When it's done, pull the whole thing out, and use two spatulas to remove it from the pan. I very regularly assembly line pizzas with this method, and it has saved my sanity.

    You could tell Chris really liked that beer tap, he was so genuinely happy. I cannot speak the same about the pizza. 😂

    Hi Rachel. As far as Oatmilk is concerned cooked oats makes it sweeter Oatmilk, and also adds BODY to the final product so it is thicker and creamier feeling. There’s a way to make it at home that I will give you a product that’s closer to a store for product but honestly it’s probably cheaper and easier just to buy it.

    Chris, buy some pizza screens. You won't get quite the same crust texture but it makes transferring so much easier. You put the stretched dough on the screen, build the pizza, and then use the peel to transfer the pizza (on the screen) into the oven. If you want, you can take the pizza off the screen and bake it directly on the oven once the crust firms up.

    Now we need a whole series on Christopher trying all of these pizza suggestions in the comments. Sorry Christopher! We just really enjoy it when you’re so relatable. 😂

    I know Chris didn't want any pizza making tips but I have one that will make life so much easier! If you build your pizza on top of a piece of parchment paper, you can move it super easy! I do this for either the BBQ or oven along with a pizza stone. After about 1-2 minutes, you can slide the parchment paper right out from under it (I remove it so it doesn't burn)

    The nutr device reminds me of an almond cow, but the strainer is integrated into the device. Almond cow also comes w/ a storage container and they have recipes for how to used any waist from the product.
