    I know from experience how difficult it is to defend against complete beginners. They will do weird shit that make 0 sence, you can't recognize techniques because they have no technique, and angles are weird as they have no kinetic intelligence. Amazing job by the ufc fighter, people need to realize how hard it is to defend against a total beginner if you can't throw back, weird as it sounds.

    • @superbarnie
      @superbarnie ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Correct me if I'm wrong, but he literally just has to cover up his head since they only punch at his head? And these untrained people don't do any feints at all, which makes it much more predictable.

    • @Mbstr1
      @Mbstr1 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@superbarnie You are wrong, against a trained fighter you recognize techniques, and your reflexes can kick in, against a beginner your reflexes are worthless because they don't throw techniques correctly, so if you would defend correctly you actually get hit. They will punch themself out quickly and be very inefficient with their energy use, and won't generate full torque on their strikes, but if the goal is just avoid getting hit without countering, you are much better off going against a decent opponent, who has learned correct technique, learned rythm, but not yet learned how to effectively use feints, set traps and break rythm. That's the easiest opponent to not get hit against.

    • @superbarnie
      @superbarnie ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mbstr1 I understand what you said in the first comment. I am not talking about an actual fight, I am saying that in demonstrations like the one in this video all he has to do is cover up and there's nothing they can do about it since they don't even go for body shots.

    • @Mbstr1
      @Mbstr1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@superbarnie When did I ever mention an actual fight? You say you understand what I said but your entire comment shows the opposite. In an actual fight you just throw hard shots and they can't take them. But I never talked about an actual fight, I talked about what they are doing in this, and I stand by what I said.
      When you cover up you always leave spaces to get hit, and you have to tighten your muscles at the right time to avoid taking damage. These reflexes don't work against beginners.

    • @thedeadmeme7877
      @thedeadmeme7877 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Mbstr1 agree from experience. i was sparring my friend who has no experience, out of shape, and generally never does anything athletic. round 1, i was only allowed to defend and got hit bc he kept walking right up to clinch range and fuckin beyblade spun into me. you cant predict something youve never even thought of.
      on a related note, when light sparring against someone inexperienced, if they dont know the potential strength behind your strikes they'll also just keep walking forward.
      example: i was light contact sparring with my friend, he rushed forward and i countered with a teep. just a light tap, but it would've landed a hard to his solar plexus in a real fight. he ignored it and threw a sloppy uppercut to my jaw that frankly had too much power behind it.
      in short, be careful when sparring with newbies because they don't understand their strength or yours.

    I remember starting to watch the agents of shield with my mom (who was a security guard), and as we were watching one of the woman hit the punching bag, I asked her “Is it just me, or is she really bad at punching?”. My mom nodded and explained the woman would have already broken her wrist because she had it bent instead of straight. The man that came in to ‘help’, didn’t correct her form either, just kinda stood behind her and told her to put her hip into it, or something like that. We didn’t end up watching the rest of the series lol.

    This reminds me when I still trained and one time, we were doing something like this -
    1 minute intervals in pairs, one was supposed to throw punches while the other one was only defending, and one round my sparingpartner was this overmotivated girl, who went full Max Holloway mode on me. I didn't even have time to practice any head movement or other kinds of evasion against her, whenever I made a step back, side step, tried some head movement she was always right in front of me continuing with the barrage of punches, I didn't even have time to stop her and tell her to slow down.
    I felt super frustrated from that, cause what the hell? We were beginners class, how the frick am I supposed to be evasive enough when someone throws like 50 punches during 60 second interval at me, especially with other pairs of people moving around which was another limiting factor.

    I'd say that surprisingly, the MOST cardio thing to get a beginner to do is BJJ. I remember when I first started (I'm still a beginner by the way), I would be COMPLETELY gassed in 30 seconds. You waste SO much energy tensing up, applying force when it's absolutely not necessary, and getting so task saturated you literally forget to breathe on top of all this... it's crazy!
    I once rolled for fun with a friend who was black belt in Kyokushin (karate) and he wanted to see what bjj was about... Just like me in my beginnings, he got gassed in less than a minute... against a white belt. of course starting from our 2nd or 3rd training session things changed, he learnt how to pace himself, and of course he was 10x stronger than me, I couldn't do anything anymore, but that feeling of tapping out a black belt a few times in our first session was INCREDIBLE hahaha

    Man, I wanted to see that guy get knocked out. So disappointing.
    I like to spar with new people at my HEMA club, it's a lot of fun introducing people to swordplay. Most people are timid when swinging swords at a person for the first time, so I give them lots of opportunities to strike me and lots of encouragement. Sometimes one of them gets cocky and starts trash talking my skills, so I ask them them if they would like to experience tournament level fencing. If they say yes, I ramp it up and shut them down, intmitade them and disarm them until they understand that their confidence was misplaced. I don't hurt them, but I let them know how many times I would have killed them in a real swordfight and then ask them if they are ready to learn. They usually say yes

    Sarah Michelle Gellar had a pretty bad heavy bag scene in either season 6 or season 7 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sarah is actually a legitimate Taekwondo black belt and she does some of her own stunts, despite the show making liberal and obvious use of stunt doubles as well (you can always spot Sarah's double because her arms are like 3X as thick, haha). As you might expect she does extremely well with fancy kicks and large, circular motions but her straight punches looked pretty comical. It doesn't help that she's like 5'4" and 95 pounds portraying a character with super strength; the heavy bag barely even budges when she hits it full force.

    You might wanna check out Fight Quest. It was a show where an amateur MMA figther and an ex army guy goes to different countries to train their style of martial arts for a week, and then theres a challange at the end :) They do Sanda, Kali, Boxing in Mexico, Kung Fu i think. If you it's not something you'd make a react of, you might get a kick outta it anyways :D

    You want bad Bag work…I can’t specifically think of any, but two shows come to mind. Netflix Iron Fist (I don’t know if it’s still available) but it’s BAD! but even worse is Hawkeye, the new character, the girl Hawkeye, the fight scenes are HORRIBLE! Bad guys throw punches, hit nothing, then literally stand there for a couple of seconds (with the fist extended, like frozen in time) as she does some extremely unskilled counter moves. O/100

    Most guys don't know enough to not know what they don't know. I've taught kyokushin and I've taught shooting. Most guys seem to think that because they are "Men" that they already know how to do these manly things. Women on the other hand don't pretend to know, they learn much faster.

    Best and worst "Chopsocky" fights?
    Wushu Wire Work done right/wrong?
    Best/worst untrained actor fight scenes? Like Zhang Ziyi in Crouching Tiger or J-lo. I think Jason Statham was untrained before signing on to The One with Jet li, if i recall the special features correctly. vs. the horror of the Birds of Prey rumble and it's ilk...
    Kids fight scenes (maybe focusing on mainstream media, not all kids stuff)
    people vs. animals/monsters in film/tv
    I'm sure I'll think of more after I've lain down for bed...
