    As a surfer, this watch looks pretty amazing. One of the biggest problems I have had with watches, Casio in particular, is the keeper slides off the band very easily in the water and the entire watch falls off. I have lost several watches because of this. So to have those "teeth" in the keeper is an amazing touch. The simplicity yet informative info about the tides is super helpful to know when you are out in the water if the surf will be getting better or worse with the tides. Not sure how far the Bluetooth range is, but to be able to see a text when surfing is amazing, say you are surfing with a friend on the beach and they need to leave they can simply text you instead of waving for minutes on end until you look at the beach. This watch seems to be geared for anybody who is constantly on the water (surfers, fishermen) and wouldn't seem to useful for anyone else.

      If you don't surf its not for you. The watch is specifically designed for surfers. It should really be reviewed as such. It's the best surf watch on the market.

      @Ni5ei ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sinar-c What do you mean?
      It's a great watch and I prefer the GBX-100 over the GBD-200.
      It has all the same functions but it has the added tide and sun/moon functions.
      Plus I really like the stainless steel front instead of the all-resin GBD-200.

      @alajononon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Ni5eiold comment but I came across this while comparing 100 to 200 before I buy one. And I totally agree. I'm not a surfer and have decided on the gbx100 because of the "surfer only" functions and I don't surf 😂
      But I do marine sediment sampling in shallow estuaries so I definitely can use the tide data. I currently have to look up the forecast before or after I collect samples but now I can just look at my watch! Plus everyone can use sunrise/sunset. And moon phase is just plain cool! I think lots of Casio fans are drawn to functions they won't use. I mean I'm still trying to find the one with the solar system on it 😂

    Deleting the Move App is unnecessary. Go to settings in the Move App taping at the display lower right on; ...More / Watch / Sound and Vibration, here you can shut off all the notifications you don't want or need, the app is so cool that let you choose from about of a dozen types of notifications. I could personally use this, it's not as techy as a smartwatch but it gets the job done and more for being I do a lot for outside rough stuff! The only downside for me...the size :/ I have a 6 & 1/4th inch wrist :( Very small in comparison..so this watch would wear me :( I wish it was a tad smaller. Around 43mm. But who knows if that's able to pack it all in

    • @heliconification
      @heliconification 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly, I've spent too many hours looking for that... They have a crazy amount of models of G Shock, but not one with all the tech for extended nature life such as solar, step counter (!), compass, alti-baro, sun, moon, tide etc - but with guaranteed no connection to phones or satellites. Why so few with step counter?! It's a great function out hiking in the woods and the mountains...

    I'm torn on the display. The sharpness and functionality are great, clearly the future of digital watches. On the other hand, part of the G-Shock (and Casio, for that matter) look is the old school segmented LCD display. I know it's horrendously out of date in 2020, but that retro charm is part of why I love Casio watches.

    hello Bob. THAT is really a cool square G Shock watch. Definitely I am going to pick one up this week. Last week, I also bought a Casio G-Shock GW5000U ($330 from Amazon), but it was just way too small. The size was too small and especially the screen/time was too small for me to see them clearly. Just like you, I am getting up there, so I need a reading glasses to see them clearly now. So I can not deal with tiny display and numbers. ha ha. This one seems like big enough and clear enough. In reality the watch is perfect as it is. People always struggle to get used to new things, however I am more than sure that change opens new perspectives and new perspectives improve us, improving our perception of positive things .. I own the GBD-200 model and I think it is fantastic exactly as it is. 'And. We must also understand that the evolution of technology is a fact regardless, casio is always an innovative company and these improvements are inevitable ... One thing I often read, for example, is that the battery change is not good because yes loses water resistance, but do not open a sundial for a long time, so performing a seal overhaul, replacement or lubrication will cause the seal to dry out over time, compromising water resistance in anyway ... I really don't see any problems replacing the battery, also having the battery replaced by a watchmaker a water resistance test will be performed eliminating the problems that many are worrying about .. But that's just my thought ...

    The only thing I like about this watch is the display. If they can offer this display on the regular square G-shocks that would be nice.

    Pebble watches had this kind of crisp negative display for well over a decade, and I still love mine, but I'd rather not have to charge my watch, even if my old Pebble doesn't need charged for something like 14 days. I have 3 watches that need charged, and many that do not. I'm gravitating back to solar/battery watches.

    Hey Rob - I'm an IT guy and ditched the smartwatches for the same reason. As other said. keep the MOVE app but just do not enable notifications. The sw is a work in progress. It tends to overwrite some settings in the watch, like the auto light on movement to see the watchface. And Casio needs to come up with a better way to return to timekeeping no matter what mode you are in. Some places you just can't get there from here. OTOH using the app is much easier for setting tide location and the second location timezone. I'm attending RSA Asia Japan while in CA, lots of not-on-the hour events and the dual digital readout of SGT and PDT beats my 4-hander analog GMT's hands down. Plus it was in-stock at retail on the G-SHOCK site and delivered in 3 days. Don't get e-slayed folks. If Watch Gauge has it, super. My NTH BVB hails from John there. Good folks.

    Genuine question. Why is solar such a deal breaker? My g shock has it but, in winter, it was a bit of a pain. I was outdoors less and wore long sleeves which covered the watch and it ran out of charge a couple of times.

    I love this watch alot, it's also my first g shock I chose to get because I thought it had everything you needed and looked really nice. Only thing I wish it was water proof and tough solar. 5:51 is the screen mode I like to always have it on, because it tells you everything you need on that just right there. I really like to remember when the sun is to go down or come up. I kind of wish it could tell current temperature though.
