  • I've allready made a little video on fixing the solex fuel pump, but I was still figuring things out with filming and editting, so I wanted to make a revision of that video, with hopefully better quality, and a better explanation of everything. Let me know if you have questions!
Some clips where filmed with my new Insta360 Go2. Definitely let me know how you like the image quality!

Just what is that? It looks like an Impex Hungarian made S3800, but it appears to have a drum front brake, which would be a huge improvement over the old design, which is REALLY fragile. I have a 2004 Impex 3800, and have had a ton of problems with it. Surprisingly nothing with the motor, but both wheels were spoked backwards from the factory and collapsed, leaving me stranded. I had to make a hard stop which turned the front brake caliper into pretzels. I was able to get new brake parts for the front, and used wheels from a much older model. Unfortunately the older rear wheel uses an 83mm brake drum, so the brake assembly from the newer 80mm bike wouldn't work. Right now I am trying to piece something together. It would be really nice to be able to find a front wheel with a drum brake.

From what I now this is a bike made in Hungary indeed, but the bikes made there were/ are made under different brands aswell. Don't quote me on this but I think this is an MBK 3800. But in the meantime the brand solex had its owner allready changed once or twice. Not sure who produced them early 2000 but that could explain the differences. I think mine has 83mm front drums. Will have to doublecheck that though.

Use a drill (DeWalt/Bosch) to test drive the engine in your workshop.

@@rikardbjork3491 not sure what it's called actually, but it's used to keep the membrane from pulling to far in/out.

What is a pen ball. I have no idea what you're talking about but I'd like any specific information you have on it because I'd like to have some spares. Thanks.

The little ink cartridges for refillable pens have a little plastic ball in them. It's one of those balls you need

@@VintageGarageYT I think I found a 60 pack of standard international refills with a 2.6 bore end. That would make sense if the ball is 2.7mm. I think I'll go ahead and order them.
I have 2 impex solexs that I'm going to do rebuilds on as soon as my parts kits arrive. One is more sluggish than the other so I'm going to be rebuilding the carbs and at least cleaning the fuel pumps and want to be sure I have an extra set of balls just in case.

Use E0 fuel. Otherwise it dissolves filters!

Yeah. E0 is hard to find here. E5 is the least I can get I think. Running that now.
