    Despite their narrow soundstage, the 599's are my go to multiplayer gaming because they image so well. 100% agreed on their brutal honesty but that's why I find them to be quite brilliant for mixing and mastering.

      @MTheoOA 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Narrow soundstage is something that sounds like a ''closed-back'' headphone? I just hate anything closing my ear to the sound. Or the sound is just too much precise and seem close to the ear?

      The 598 introduced me to the world of open backs. I've used them a lot so I'm used to their sound signature so it doesn't blow me away as it did before. But I still remember the day I put them on my head and it gave me a new perspective on how music could sound like with open backs. It still holds a special place in my heart.

      Specimen021. That's because they're beige / brown of course !!!
      I'm listening to the Bloody Sennheiser Massacre for the second time. This time on my shiny new 599. And wouldn't it be on the lighter side of irony if I bought them from Amazon via Z's site? lol. It takes about a month or two (for slow learners) to realize they've just begun to explore the pure genius that is Z! Very entertaining! I buy stuff he cons me into. It's like the back of the next cereal box. I gotta have that, before he causes a disruption of the force. But then I also go and buy something he truly hates! (Most guilty, Amazon prime day's). #1, I suspect he mostly hates the company, and is just using their products against them. Bold move! Ya gotta applaud that. Z's a gambler. All the other companies got the message loud and clear. DON'T PISS Z OFF!
      Bonus: We got way more than sounds good here's the other pads and stuff you need. My God he even wrote stuff down! Your Honor, I have presented all the factual evidence. Everything this company sells is crap. Except the cheapest model. Perhaps I could regift that to someone I don't like. But damnit, even knowing it's just a performance, you fucking can't help but love this guy! He makes you laugh! You have to be an entertainer to do that. And he is stellar at that!

      I've had the HD569 since they came out, and they aren't half bad, but I wouldn't dare to compare them with my HD600. They're actually good, but they're not THAT good. the real issue though is in the padding, it definitely looks fancier but it keeps crumbling to dust like it often happens with cheaper headphones, I got new genuine pads a few times and noticed that they also sound much better with the very first pads I had after I completely peeled them off, so it might be worth trying pads of different brands and materials, since that fancy material they use seems to affect the sound very negatively.

      I also bought a pair of HD569's and at first I thought they sounded strange, but then I got used to them. They are a somewhat muddy sounding headphone but you get used to it pretty quickly and then you start to like them. They have powerful bass, not as punchy as other models but still pretty good for the price. The earpads are very comfortable, but they disentegrate after moderate use. Good then Sennehiser sells replacement pads...can someone say planned obsolescence?

    For portable use, the 598Cs make the most sense actually. They need less power to run so anything can power them (cheap DAPs or smartphones), and yet they remain fairly neutral.

    • @unpaintedcanvas
      @unpaintedcanvas 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cqef With their harshness, I'd rather go for something like the m40s if I wanted easy-to-drive neutral headphones that also have some facet of portability to them. (iirc they can turn 90 degrees).

    I repeat what Ive seen in some comments below. HD 569 and 598 are exactly the same headphone and both quite good in my modest opinion. Almost every review Ive seen says they are possibly the best for the money at least in my country. They almost certainly skipped 589 to avoid confusion with the 580. They came out before Sennheiser adopted their current multiples of 100 classification system, but are still popular enough to necessitate reserving the 58* moniker.

Amazing clarity, wide soundstage but not too wide (like 598s wide). They are basically tuned 558s, but they did great with them. But i just bought the 559s, they are available here for 59€ atm with taxes! Good price!

  • @BojanTomicMusicChannel
    @BojanTomicMusicChannel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    To everyone watching this and having doubts about buying the Sennheiser HD599: I do not regret my decision one bit! I want to point out a few things: I bought them AFTER I watched this video, so I am not in denial. Also really important: I am not in any way more experienced than the guy whose channel this is, I am merely stating this from a buyers' point of view. That being said, I want to let you know what I am using these for: I am a musician who was looking for a good pair of headphones as a reference for mixing and recording as well as listening to music (mostly guitar-driven music, but also almost every other genre) and gaming. These do all of these things very well. They were uncomfortable at the beginning (I am wearing glasses), however after just a few days I got used to them and now the fit perfectly. Absolutely zero problems here. Now, I am sure you could get more for your money (I paid 150 Euros/Dollars for these), but these were close to me, so I went for it. I also discovered a VST plug-in called Toneboosters Morphit, in which you can flatten the frequency response of the headphones, because the plug-in counters the frequency of the HD599 (there are of course other models to choose from). With this in combination I am very satisfied with my purchase! Once again, this is only meant as a personal opinion, not in any way as a negativity towards the reviewer here! Sennheiser HD599 works for me in all aspects!

    • @gadjox

      I tried a pair of hd598s a couple years back and even among many other headphones ranging from $50 to $700 dollars they were by far my favourites. However, I didn't buy them at the time since I just bought the sennheiser ie80's (gotta let your wallet recharge lol)
      Unfortunately, now you can't find them anywhere except second-hand off ebay, and I'd rather have a new pair. I don't really want the 599s either because he's saying they sound harsher, and imo the 598s look marginally better too ( i actually like the colour scheme) . I want the exact sound I heard but if I have to get the 599s I will. gonna search a little harder first though.

    Maybe you had a defunct HD 569 or maybe your ears are vastly different than mine, but I have the 569, 599 and 600, and the 569 is definitely on par with the other two. The sound is in no way or shape 'mono' as you described it. The imaging is quite good and the frequency response is very flavored, focused on the middle range and not boring.

    I like the 569's best. The others are more uniform sound profile. 69's have a slightly more forward vocal which I like. I have my 1 more triple driver for that uniform presentation. I like the different sound profile of the 69's which do have the best overall mid and bass in my opinion. The truth is I like them all, but based on the 12 headphones in my portfolio I choose the 569's hands down. Also, spec wise has best frequency range and SPL output.

    My experience with HD 559 (coming from gaming headsets and i had no experience with Sennheiser before). I red like half of internet trying to convince myself that this purchase is right choice. I never had open back headphones as well.
    First day i plugged them in lap top and reaction was ""So this is it?" i immediately
    thought i need dac/amp. I felt sceptic for first 2 days and little disappointed. I do listen most music but i like electronic the most (not commercial crap with two tones and bass) but deep stuff with a lot of details.
    They are loud even more than i would like in my average laptop but i felt sceptic about sound. Once i got used to them after 3 or 4 days i cant get enough of everything with this beautiful pair. Sound might not be explosive and bass is not super punchy, however details are on point and they are not harsh even on higher volumes (bass is not super punchy but very clean). I wish i bought them sooner. For under 100 bucks this thing is amazing. If you're coming from heavy bass and treble kind of headphones you are probably going to be disappointed but give them a try for few days and you will fall in love.

      At first, I liked my takstar pro 82 more than this because they have more detail but after a few months and an HD 58x, I started to appreciate how kind and relaxed sounding the 559s are since the pro 82s have no body to the music and their high is really shrill and sibilant compared to the 58x and 559. The 559 is just perfect if you want to just chill out and the 58x made me realize what a proper treble should sound like. I could never go back to the pro 82 even if I equalize the treble down by 4-5db their treble still sounds shrill to me and the mids are just lacking. I do tone down the bass on the HD 559 for about 2-3db tho

    Hey, I was looking for a closed back headset for casual gaming and listening to music (TV and computer are in the same room...).
    After seeing this review of the 569 I am really confused. I bought it in store and after seeing the review I ordered the MH 572. Although the latter is 40 Euros cheaper I am not convinced that the 569 is as awful as you described and the MH 572 as good. The MH 572 has more soundstage but other than that I think the 569 is more pleasant to listen to.

    I still disagree with the different league stuff... I prefer the HD598. But i acknowledge, that the HD660S is a bit more neutral. Still for me they are not leagues away. Just like i dont think planars to be better or in a different league like some... Differnt maybe yes. But to be honest everyone on a tight budget and who wants a bit more of a spatial presentation the HD599/598 are the way to go. I prefer them over any AKG and over the Beyer DT range. Only the DT1990 and T1 are MAYBE superior. If it really come down to clean, neutral sound. Character... for me its always been Sennheiser.

      Michele Giuseppe Iurlo if you prefer zero bass all the power to you. I gave my 598's to my brother when I got my 660s. They are definitely all around better imo by leagues

    • @m.g.i2480
      @m.g.i2480 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find the HD598 to actually have more bass. Its overall warmer. Imo if its any better and i think for vocals and sheer clarity it is... its not leagues, but 5-7% of a difference. IMO though. Ive tested so many headphones now and i find that difference are totally overdone... even from a 30$ Sennheiser HD202 you dont get more than 20% of an increase. Maybe im just not that impressed with the difference especially at the price/performance standpoint. But even if we only look at performance i prefer the HD598 for the warmer tone, the more prominent low end, the bigger soundstage and space and the more laid back upper midrange. I really just enjoy the HD660 with something like Queen where the vocals just get a tad more intimate like Freddy is right in front of you, while on the HD598 its like he on a small stage infront of you and with an LCD 2 its like hes singing through hifi speakers. But everyone has his taste and im not gonna tell you how i feel my HD598 is far superior to anything else or leagues better. Its just 5% more in line of what im looking for in audio. And im really not a person who dislikes bass, i still have Philips X1s and X2s since they released and use them on some occations, but after all these years i attuned to the tighter bass. I heard people say HD598 has to much bass and some who say to few. I always thought maybe its malfunctioning devices, but i had the original ,the SE which i sadly burnt on vacation and now the SR and none had any differences whatsoever... Maybe its down to the ears :)

    HD569 and HD598Cs are exactly the same in terms of driver and tuning. The difference is cosmetics and CS being amazon exclusive. Shouldn't sound different, if they do it's manufacturing inconsistency and it's a fault.
    HD599 have wider soundstage than both HD600 and HD650 (these being more 3D-like but still narrower) and on pair with HD598 which is famous for having good soundstage.

    • @PoppyPoppa
      @PoppyPoppa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beliveinurself double necro, but the reason why they measure different is because of the pad material, the HD569 have this newer super smooth suede-like padding, and replacing the pads with the original velour-like pads typical from the 500 series makes them sound virtually identical. Sennheiser also seems to have done a silent revision on the HD569s as I've noticed the inner disc in the more recently manufactured HD569s is made of a thicker and more solid cardboard-like cloth instead of the usual soft translucent cloth.

    I got to try the 559, 579 and 599 in a shop. The 559 was dark and muddy compared to the more expensive ones, with clarity (mids and trebles) increasing as you go up. I ended up buying the HD599 SE on sale. The soundstage is hard for me as a non audiophile to quantify. But the HD599 didn't strike me as super wide. Then again, I thought the same of the X2HRs which you said have a very wide stage.
    As for relaxing. The Hd599 are very relaxing to listen to and zone out. Equally as they are to jam to and enjoy the music!
    Also for comfort, in the shop the 599 were more comfy than the other 2. And I can personally wear them for hours and hours. I even forget they're there sometimes and try to scratch my ears with headphones on 🤦🏻‍♂️😅

    I don't get why you disliked the 569's so much. They sound far better than the DT 770's to me.

      I like them for commuting but if i had the choice between them and my 598s, I pick the 598 every time. They do sound better than zeos makes them out to be.

    I own both the takstar pro 82 and sennheiser hd 569, and I disagree with your opinions completely. The hd 569 are superior to the pro 82 in most cases, most noticeably - imaging and separation. Both have the same soundstage and around the same comfort. I also like the sound signature of the hd 569 more than the pro 82, which is warm and more pleasant to listen to. Don't get me wrong, I love both headphones but they have different uses. I use the pro 82 mainly for gaming and communication because they are really comfortable for long periods of time and don't bother me while wearing glasses. While I use my hd 569 for music listening because I like the sound signature more, and I can get the max potential out of them through my phone which also makes them great portable cans. Another note, I have done some listening tests with my desktop amp with both headphones, and the pro 82 definitely did benefit from it while the hd 569 sounded the same as on my phone.

      Funny I came to the exact same conclusions. The only thing Takstar really has on the HD 569's is when you turn the bass switch to position 2, then it's more U-shaped if you like that type of sound. But in accuracy and general comfort the 569's completely outclasses the Takstar. Tyll's review on the HD 569 was 100% accurate.

      Completely true, i bought the Takstar because of his review and then i found them to be less good that i expected. 1 week later i saw HD 569's review on Inner Fidelity and i returned the Pro 82s and bought the Senheiser and they are clearly superior.
      Now i would like to try the 1More. However on-ear headphones harm my ears cause i wear glasses.
      Funny thing is that he thinks HD 598 are easier to drive than HD 569 and they are exactly the same specs wise!

    Listening to this on 598cs...And your spot on. The mid's and highs are to sharp and hurt. Having to use EQ to reduce the pain over the past year. Still looking for a closed back alternative for use in the office. These are ridiculously comfortable tho.

    Would the DT 770 be a good closed option under $200? Need something to complement my 598.

      According to my research that seems to be the best bet. I own too many headphones and have tried the dt770 80 ohm, they are a bit large but were comfortable and open sounding, decent bass too.

      Personally I don’t like the DT 770 because of the non detachable cable, and I would go for a more rounded option like the Shure SRH840-E. Great for music, good for gaming, all rounder really. Basically they are better M50x’s... however I do appreciate the DT series and I think they are very good, just not my style/preference

    How would you say the 559's compare to the Superlux HD 681 EVO's? Looking to buy the 559's since my 681 EVO's ended up breaking after a little over a month, used them mostly for gaming and bass heavy music.

    • @jayanthnair5342
      @jayanthnair5342 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heinrich _ For the 681 EVO's I'd recommend taking real good care of the jack into which you connect the cable it comes with into, the rubber holding the jack to the left earcup is what ended up giving out for me.
