A great musician can play anything and do it well with little practice. Session musicians are like that. Go to the studio, hear a song for the first time and get it perfect after only a couple run throughs.

Chris Turner is truly a gem. Probably the most underrated drummer of metal. I don't particularly like Oceans Ate Alaska because it's too extreme , but the drumming is commendable to say the least
Whenever I am having a bad day, all I have to do is put on the video of the death metal hell cat and I am instantly in a better mood. I laugh every time I see that plush cat tear a hole in the sky. But playing the song faster, slower or adding new fills, polyrhythms, ghostnotes, playing things with single pedal instead of double pedal is a good thing to do.
Lot of incredibly talented musicians here. I still remember the insane solo Travis did while on tour with Blink 182 at Allentown, PA like 20 years ago, waited hours to get that spot in the front row and it was totally worth it.

Everything is about technique, master that and you can have both speed and power in your control.

Bass drum pedals do make a great difference. I was using a generic Sonor single bass pedal for about 15 years, when I purchased the Jojo Mayer pedal, my doubles and triplets on were insanely faster, smooth as butter.

One day he hops on a drum set with double bass, and just starts nailing it right off the bat. Dave Lombardo hears him, asks him how long he's played double bass. "First time." He was hired by Dave as his own drum teacher. That's unfathomable. Training your muscle memory to the idea that doing it elsewhere will create a sound....?! Plus Gene is around a hundred feet tall, and built like a tank. And he wears leather boots.
Evgeniy (the gravity blast guy) is probably my favourite drummer ever after Joey (RIP, he will always be the goat. Slaughter To Prevail is often described as Slipknot but Russian and heavier and I feel like he has a similar style to Joey in that way. Love the guy!!! Best drummer and band I’ve seen live. Their shows are smth else!
Now I really wonder how someone can compare the unique way Eloy hits the snare and the toms with the other guy, which is very technical and fast but just plain and composed.
I remember making a drum kit when i was 8 or 9 from my mothers old kitchen ware, pans, pots, kettles, lids, sives, Etc. and played them with chopsticks as drumsticks. Also i made some samples back in the day playing those same things with drumsticks, but they got lost cos my old PCs HDD decided to die on me.
I be an awesome drummer you need control of your hands and feet. My friend has one that at times would hit his sticks out of his hands. He mastered that and never lost his sticks (unless they broke).

I remember making a drum kit when i was 8 or 9 from my mothers old kitchen ware, pans, pots, kettles, lids, sives, Etc. and played them with chopsticks as drumsticks.
Also i made some samples back in the day playing those same things with drumsticks, but they got lost cos my old PCs HDD decided to die on me.
I be an awesome drummer you need control of your hands and feet. My friend has one that at times would hit his sticks out of his hands. He mastered that and never lost his sticks (unless they broke).
