The fact he takes time to explain every part of it is what makes me like him more and more not to mention he's not afraid to give credit to other drummers.
I love how he is taking the challenge of other amazing drummers and WITHOUT trying to out do them, sends his respect and just breaks it down being as amazing as he is as a player just as they are and deserve that respect
El Estepario just sees and hears the patterns. His ability to follow the progression of the patterns is so much longer. A pure savant. He just...sees and hears it different than we do.
My favorite drummers- buddy rich, J. bonham, Sibriano, dave weckle, Gadd, peart , and the list goes on and on, In my 54 years of music! Thank you for your time!😊
I don't understand how at my age, I'm binge watching these type videos. Thank you younger generations for making my day, lol! You've inspired me. I enjoyed this because I don't understand a thing about drumming. This breakdown helps me know what's going on.
Here's one for you... Remember as a child when someone was beating the table, chair, the wall, even a younger sibling like a drum...we would be told to knock that house off...when he plays...you can never get enough. He's truly amazing!!!
Jorge is such a beast, but at the same time so incredibly humble. And funny too. Positive, motivating. No wonder his channel has exploded. Such an incredible human being.
The skill of being able to listen and interpret the sound even with a different set is awesome. Especially without being able to read music. He is a very talented, natural musician. I myself don’t like to compare great musicians to others, I just enjoy their ability to make music into an art form.
❤I love how he displays his humility, Everyone bends to his mastery but he knows he is the same as everyone else and is always learning and will always have someone else to look up to no matter how good he gets there is always someone somewhere better. Bravo
Mario is my favourite drummer and i'm a huge Gojira fan, saw them live for the 5th time this year. If i had to recommend one song by them it would probably between The Gift of Guilt and Backbone. They are a fantastic band
I played for 12 years, took 5 years worth of lessons, played over 300 live shows. Yet I know just enough to completely understand and appreciate Mario and Estepario’s abilities. My favorite drummer for almost 40 years was Neil Peart. It wasn’t just his drumming. His compositions were mostly exquisite,
i said it before and ill say it again.. he is the Stevie Ray Vaughan of drums..humble, outgoing, gives everyone their credit. hopefully people will see his true awesomeness before hes gone
Agreed, but I think Mario's style is truly amazing and unique. El Estepario is certainly talented enough to play what Duplantier plays, but they have a little different style, so it's fun to see El recreate it so well
This is awesome! I Love the fact that there is a group of GREAT musicians coming up who are willing to "share" the struggle of learning how to interpret other musicians solos. Ive been a gigging musician since 16 years old. I started on the drums with gospel music like most out there. Then 25 years later we lost our bass player and I needed to learn the bass. Now 18 years later still playing both. But the mentality of ALL the "good" musicians in most genres were all secretive with their technique. I remember asking really good bass players after a gig what was that run you did in the second chorus of the 4th song in the set when you started with a pentatonic run and ended on the 4 (hypothetical situation here) ..... and the answer you'd get is ... "oh I just felt that I have no idea what I did"... leaving all young musicians thinking that there was some magic place you needed to visit in order to play like a beast!!! It is so refreshing to see really outstanding musicians like yourself Colby Fulton and El Estepario show the younger generation that that magic place you need to go to is ...wait for it...... "PRACTICE TOWN". and you need to make your reservation in "Practice Town" a long term stay... Maybe rent a Villa in "Practice Town" and live there for some time, get to know the natives, or .... better yet, buy some land in "Practice Town" and build a small tee-pee there and learn the landscape a bit, eventually your little tee-pee will get upgraded to an apartment and then maybe you will become a naturalized citizen of "Practice Town". Mentorship , like you both are doing to this young generation was the missing piece in the 70's through the 2000's. Now people are seeing that the way to continued improvement is mentorship! Good Job to both of you
Both of you are so humble and so respectful to your colleagues and the craft itself it's super inspiring and very moving , Respect ! .. I would love to subscribe !
Love this content, dissecting a near impossible to play solo ( without the ability to read or write music ) is impressive enough, but to then play a near perfect reproduction on a greatly reduced kit is both a testament to his abilities as drummer and a musician. El Estepario is mind blowing, because he seems to be able to reproduce, and often adapt, some of the most technical stuff, on such a basic kit...and when he plays one handed, rolling a smoke and having a drink...just incredible!!!
Estepario is easily my pick for favourite drummer, he’s incredible, especially considering he can’t read or write music…I’ve seen him do the most difficult solos out there like nobody’s business….& he’s way younger than he looks, only 27 or maybe 28 now…his journey is just beginning, imagine where he could be in a decade, any band he wanted most likely!

He may not have a musical theory background, writing background or anything like that but he's easily the greatest drummer alive, an argument could be made for ever.
Game recognizes game. And we all appreciate seeing that as well. Thanks to all of you great people out there for sharing your greatness with all of us. Pretty sure we straight up fkn LOVE you guys for that!
Shut it with the 'whose better' garbage! These guys are ALL great! Listen to him on the CD with his former band "Saratoga". Amazing stuff, by all of these drummers who can play anywhere NEAR this level. Just the fact this guy can sit down, listen, figure it out & play it is amazing. Great channel, BTW.
I love how ESS listens. This is extremely important in any musical context, but especially for a drummer who does not read music, it is indispensable. ESS has built an amazing technique set by working his tail off. Remaining humble and respectful of people doing their own thing, present and past, allows him and any other musician or other person to keep learning and growing. Here is where work on listening skills really pays off, because listening to experts doing crazily hard stuff - whatever the field of endeavor (and we can substitute "reading" and "observing" and other terms appropriate for the ways we pay close attention to learn from other people in any given field of art, craft, industry, or science) - relies on our ability to understand and to analyze what we hope to learn. Whether we want to replicate a part for enjoyment or for an exercise or we want to pull a set of sounds out of context to find a way to incorporate some of it into our own new music, all the work we do to learn how to listen - to learn how to learn - makes it possible to do what we need to do. The beauty to me of what ESS does is the way he shares the journey, and shares his enthusiasm for what he is doing. It reflects a respect for the work it takes to do what he hears in his head. That respect and enthusiasm show in his appreciation of other players. On the format, I really enjoy part breakdowns like the one ESS does here. They give insight into how a part I don't know works, but also tell me something about how the person doing the analysis - here ESS - thinks about music and the instrument. As for Mario, bravo - he seems pretty masterful. Somehow, I have minimal familiarity with his band (not really my thing - grunting vocals don't attract my attention). With all the music out there, sometimes things just pass you by without your knowing it happened.
Some people just drip talent. The Russian steppe is indeed one of them His ear and ability to parse individual sticking is incredible. Too add insult, he's incredibly clean and the syncopation seems effortless.
Mario is one of the best no doubt about it but my personal favorite and inspiration was Neil Peart from Rush, he died 5 years ago but the music and his drumming lives on...
you really can't compare El Estepario to anyone. He is Cobham, Weckl, Colliuta, Bohnam, Tony Williams, Mason, PJ Jones, Elvin, Greb, and every good drummer you could ever think of combined and then some.
@@Jani-oc1upI'm sorry to say this good sir, but I don't think Neil is even close to being in the realm that El Estepario is in... could u honestly see Neil covering some of the most technical drum beats of modern day....... It may go without saying, willing to take heat for this. It is a gift to have an ear and coordination without learning how to play an instrument. I learned how to play french horn in 4th grade not with the books given to learn how to play, I learned from the radio with Back in Black album and on a CD of Blink-182 Enema of the State. Memory,Ear and coordination goes a long way, but dedication is by far what makes any musician their best
well playing a music and creating the music is two different thing, , it's easy to be impressed by blast beat and speed double kick , Mario doesn't care and has nothing to prove at this point , he just does his stuff
Drums are like golf. Even players who describe themselves as "intermediate" can have moments of brilliance. It's the dependable repetition of those moments that separate Estepario and Mario from those of us forced to just tune in and watch in awe.

He may not have a musical theory background, writing background or anything like that but he's easily the greatest drummer alive, an argument could be made for ever.
Man insane the breathing is the technique to his endurance. Perfect drummers
Very very impressive. He hears it once and he programmed his brain to copy and repeat like a ROBOT. He is the best or damn close to it!
Both of those drummers are so sick, it’s mind boggling! 😮
I friggin love watching El Estapario he keeps it simple, he could pretty much play with any band that needs a drummer. He may be a cyborg just saying.
Game recognizes game. And we all appreciate seeing that as well. Thanks to all of you great people out there for sharing your greatness with all of us. Pretty sure we straight up fkn LOVE you guys for that!
EL ESTEPARIO is the best, hands down. LEGEND !!!!
The Russian steppe is indeed one of them
His ear and ability to parse individual sticking is incredible. Too add insult, he's incredibly clean and the syncopation seems effortless.

EL ESTEPARIO
SIBERIANO is my favorite drummer All day (after my uncle who thought me to play RIP Jack Scott)
Mario is one of the best no doubt about it but my personal favorite and inspiration was Neil Peart from Rush, he died 5 years ago but the music and his drumming lives on...
You HAVE to get the exclusive with this guy. He is a musical GOD and he's so intriguing to boot. Yes!! PODCAST ❤️
you really can't compare El Estepario to anyone. He is Cobham, Weckl, Colliuta, Bohnam, Tony Williams, Mason, PJ Jones, Elvin, Greb, and every good drummer you could ever think of combined and then some.
Exept Neal Peart
@@Jani-oc1upI'm sorry to say this good sir, but I don't think Neil is even close to being in the realm that El Estepario is in... could u honestly see Neil covering some of the most technical drum beats of modern day....... With ONE FU€KIN HAND!??!?!??! I've seen Neil unscripted behind a set and he's not mind blowing .. He's great tho .. he really is a bonafide legend!! So can we all try to imagine what bracket of greatness El estepario should fall in!! ?? I mean he added on 1 million new subscribers to his channel within a month.... It seems like I have a lot to say lol but I'm honestly speechless in the end. No dis respect intended with this reply, I swear.
Technique and skill is one thing, he has abundance of that but has he got the groove??? Not so sure.
He lacks musicality, but he may be the best technical drummer out there.
Colby I truly appreciate you finding and sharing the most mind-blowing drum content. Some people talk shat, but I would have never known this existed
Wow both amazing. I would love my drum set to sound just like Mario’s. Great sound.
El Estepario Siberiano is a genius. His ability to dissect and replicate are off the charts. Hes truly a beast on the drums.
Huge Gojira fan here. Satan is a Lawyer - one of their best songs imo!! But everything they do is amazing. Mario is superb!
Loving this format and breaking down piece by piece each section
Estepario Siberiano, drummer level OMEGA!!!! what a beast!!!
He has got to be the best drummer in the world. Hands down.
I freaking love Gojira! Mario Duplantier is a master at off beats and weird time signatures. Silveria, Shooting Star, and Stranded are my favorites.
Not a musician at all. But love the content of drummers on drummers and that learning never stops. Dedication.
Favorite drummer?! Eloy Casagrande! What a Monster! The power on his hits! omg! and the precission!
I don't know what my favorite Gojira song is but the one that turned me on to them was "Stranded"
Been loving your vids keep it up 👍
Thank you!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
It’d be something to get a few of these guys in the same studio sharing their work
Mario and El Estepario are both drum beasts.
This guy is one of the BEST DRUMMERS I'VE SEEN, HE MAKES IT LOOK SOO NATURAL
Love this. I need alot more practice and I been playing 30 years. Never saw A drummer like him.
These are 2 of my favorite drummers.
I don't know how he can listen to it at that speed and break down the pattern that is being done . That takes a very skillful year
Good to see the breakdown on some of the best drummers & how many things are broken down.. many thx.. 🙂
well playing a music and creating the music is two different thing, , it's easy to be impressed by blast beat and speed double kick , Mario doesn't care and has nothing to prove at this point , he just does his stuff
Drums are like golf. Even players who describe themselves as "intermediate" can have moments of brilliance. It's the dependable repetition of those moments that separate Estepario and Mario from those of us forced to just tune in and watch in awe.
The scariest thing about Mario Duplantier is how hard he hits. And he does that for a full 60-90 minute set. He’s a fucking alien.
Impressive how you put it together on such a small fucking drum kit budget..You rock.
I'VE PLAYED DRUMS FOR 20+ YEARS AND COULDN'T BEGIN TO DUPLICATE SOMEONE PLAYING THIS TECHNICALLY DIFFICULT AND FAST! El Estepario DOES IT WITH EASE. MIND FUCK
I think that the disection is imperetive, especially when people doubt EES and his super human skill set. Love the content, as a drummer I really appreciate you.
I never heard of the band Gojira before, but cool name, and wicked drumming! I'm a subscribed fan of Siberiano. He is a monster machine, and very entertaining. Every drum stroke seems precise, as if it's the only note he's playing that day. It doesn't matter who's best, they are both awe-inspiring rhythm aces.
Sir. You need to listen to Gojira! I know what i am telling you!
I do like the breakdown.
he is a natural-born MONSTER !
My favorite Gojira song is Stranded ❤️ El Estepario Siberiano is absolutely amazing! I love everything he has done! His passion and dedication to playing is so inspiring! I’m binging all the videos I can find!
Just amazing to see how he breaks this down.
Dude Gojira is my favorite band I’ve heard every Gojira song hundreds of times including their 1996 demo albums and all 7 of their large and fantastic albums there’s no bad eggs with gojira I’d have to say my favorite group of songs because I can’t name a single favorite I’d have to say is Rememberance, embrace the world, death of me (all the link album) and maybe also listen to the way of all flesh song and any mars to Sirius song then when your done do some lephant savauge I did not spell that right but yeah….
Idk why, but i can't say i have learned to appreciate drum solos yet. Not that i don't recognize the skill, but after a certain point without backing music, it just becomes noise to me. I appreciate this breakdown though and the humbleness all around is faith restoring
Gojira. L’enfant Sauvage amazing song. Mario is an amazing drummer.
Love it! I have a lot of "favorite drummers". But being an oldschool guy Buddy Rich and Sammy Davis Jr. are two of my all-time favorites.
I love these videos! The look on your face when you see the Estepario's skill is the best. Fun fact: on a recent interview with another spanish youtuber, he said something like "When I listen to music, I transcribe them on paper like "pum pum pim", "pam pam pim pum" which is hilarious xD
😂🤘🏻🤘🏻
Been watching this guy for a LONG TIME now and blows my fucking mind EVER FUCKING TIME. If it's a video,a short,a clip. ANYTHING HE DOES IF FFUUCCKKIINNGG AMMMAAAAAAAAAZINGGGG
Mario is stellar on drums one of my favorite drummers
