hi i try to learn sketch car desing to get a better lvl becouse this its a personal hobby, so i hope you conetinue with these videos, its very educative and some people dont have too much money to get a course and this videos its a big guide to people like us, contratulations and nice work, hope learn more to enter on your contest videos im a amateur :) Greetings from Colombia
Thank you very much. Your videos are very easy to learn. You are a very very good designer, but a very very good teacher for begginers too. Really you are helping me to advance in my passion. Thank you again.
It is really cool to have such contest, but for me it sounds a little bit strange for the prizes. The better design by your criteria is submitted, the less is a need for this person to take this (as I understood, introductory) course. I don't say it's bad, just interested in your reasoning behind such choice.
The purpose is to develop talent. If you're 12 years old and you make s submission you'll be judged differently than if you are a 17 year old making a submission. This is why there are 76 prizes. I have no idea how many entries we will receive. We make get 10 we may get 1000. The goal is to find the most passionate people who are showing promise at whatever age and stage of their development they are at and help them. The videos on the channel do this to a certain extent, but I wanted to do something that would take it to the next level. This is why I asked for your age, location and why you want to be a car designer. It's not just about the designs or your ability to draw. The goal is to judge the work of each person based on the work of their peers. Your age and where you're talent is for your age is a big part of how the prizes will be handed out. Let me know if the criteria makes more sense now.
I´ve got some questions: 1. Should we sketch cars which already exist or can we design our own cars? 2. Do you mean with 3 sketches 3 car sketches or 3 sheets of sketch(with different views on it) :) ? 3. Should we sketch one type of a car or can it be also different types?
1. Design your own original car. Car Designers are paid to create new designs. 2. Submit one design. You can have 3 views which would be 3 sketches on one page or 1 sketch on 3 pages. The goal is to have someone understand your idea. You can also do one sketch of one view. It's up to you. 3. Choose one type of car. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks.
Hey I just tried your lesson pretty much speak forms and I'm having trouble getting a starting point don't know what to look for or what shape should I start
Louis- This is why it is important to use something other than cars for inspiration. If you watch the speed form video you will see that sea life is used for inspiration and this is the starting point for the shapes. You can use whatever you'd like.
Great chance to practice. But first some questions 1. It can be digital sketching? 2. Can it be one sheet with múltiple views? Or only one sketch x sheet?
1. Yes, it can be digital. The techniques shown on this channel transfer over to digital. If you can sketch, the medium should not matter. 2. One sheet with multiple views is preferred.
A facelift will show less originality and less creativity than a submissions of an all new, all original design. There is a time and place for facelifts and we may do a face lift contest in the future, but I would suggest an original design for this current contest. Thank you for your question.
How To Draw Cars Even though this is last second, my last question would be, what if we created a design for a brand eg, bmw. Using their distinct features eg, Kidney grills and then making a new model?
what if i told u that u have a subscriber from north africa. aka algeria i dont know if u ever heard of it. but im a software programming student and i would love to extend my knowledge of software throigh this profession and i would like to be both plan paper and pencil car designer. or in a digital aka the computer. what are ur tips for begginning to understand vehicle proportions and perspectives. thank for lighting my eyes on this and i wouldnt say its a dream. but i would say its a goal of mine. keep up the good work .
Most proportion systems are based around wheels sizes. There are typically 3 1/2 wheels between the wheels in a side view. Some of these proportion systems are shown in the videos on this channel. I would also check other channels that have videos showing proportion.
Ok Got it. The technique of drawing from your shoulder is not about precision or making a single perfect line like in a illustration or a paining. Needing to erase comes with the assumption that you will make a "mistake". As your skills improve, you'll master the materials and your hand eye coordination, you'll find you draw less and less lines you'll want to erase. Every line will have a purpose. Many times you're trying several lines out at the same time when you are developing a design. There are no mistakes. When a final rendering is done a single line is chosen and erasers can be used to bring a drawing to the presentation stage. But for ideation sketching, just draw and work on transferring the idea you see in your minds eye to the page, even if it takes ten lines to do it.

@@jesusjosecastillovilchez5778 Take as many drawing classes as you can in school. Ask your teachers if you can do extra credit work by doing drawings, art projects etc. If you have to do a report of some kind, do an awesome cover and include drawings in your report. Try to incorporate as much art and design in your other school work as you can. Keep a record of all this work and when you get to the next level of school, start the process over. Plus draw on your own time too. You have about 4 years until you apply to design college. You should be able to put together a great portfolio to not only get in but to get a scholarship to a good design school.

Can you sketch Rimac C_Two?
Question: what if I am not an aspiring car designer but would like to enter the contest?
You can enter. The contest is open to everyone.
Ty for replying back

That would be fine.
If I win the contest, where are going to be the classes?
And should I send three views of my car?
Whatever you feel will best show your talent and ideas. 3 views is good.

can we to the interior of the car or just the outside?
Yes interior design sketches can be submitted as well. Thanks for the question.
Can we submit more than one entries ?
One entry per person please. If you have more than one idea, pick the one you feel best shows off your talent and creativity.
after 15th January no one can participate?
Correct. You have over 2 weeks to prepare your entry. If this works out well, we may have another one in the spring. Best of luck.
I have a question: Why any designer uses the rubber?
I am not sure what you mean by "rubber". Maybe you can ask in Spanish and I can have someone here translate it.
Perdón, goma de borrar
I found it, I wanted to say eraser
