Demyx's lack of relevance is EXACTLY how he was able to betray them in 3, the fact no one in the Organization was paying attention or cared about him was the entire reason Vexen approached him specifically, that and their lack of any connection.

Uh...I just started this, but I love Luxord. He’s a gambler by trade, and that shows in his fighting style. Also, he’s a lot nicer than the other members. He gives you a chance to beat him, whereas everyone else will stab you in the back given the chance. It’s why his defeat in KH3 was so satisfying. He respected Sora as the victor, and he even gave him that wild card.
I like how he's subtly characterised as a more Genial and noble member of the organization.
He is given more time to shine in the 358 Days /2 Manga.
I agree. I just wish he was fleshed out as a character in the games more like josh said. Maybe an established backstory, or an explanation about that whole “ancient Keyblade legacy within” that Xemnas talked about. Who knows, maybe the creators are holding their cards and will explain more about him (and hopefully demyx because I’d like 2 know more about him 2 asides from him being a wimp who can easily overpower u if he stops being a lazy coward playing a sitar all day) in future games
Same, and considering that the wild card he gave to Sora may be the reason he's got a second chance in the Reapers Game, he easily has the potential to be a great help to Sora.

I was even kinda sad when he died in KH3. I hope that when we figure out who his somebody is, that he'll become an ally to Sora. (seeing as how he has a keyblade power hidden in him from what Xemnas says. I really hope it's true. Seeing Luxord with a keyblade would be AWESOME!)

Besides being entertaining to watch, I always thought Xemnas' overacting hamlord was actually fairly unsettling and a good way to portray someone without emotions; he takes a stab at affecting emotions to manipulate others, but the viewer is left thinking "Yeah, uh... that's... that's not a person, is it?"

@@Sraye Any story that understands the concept of it doesn't matter where your power comes from but what you use it for great examples of this would be Devilman, Yu Yu Hakusho, Berserk (more in the fact of how Guts was raised and the beast within him), Devil May Cry, the list goes on.
@@Sraye Uh...Kingdom Hearts? It's explicitly stated as early as Kingdom Hearts 2 that Darkness is not inherently bad and is necessary for the universe to exist. However the nature of Darkness as an easy to use power source draws in bad people to use it. And when they lack the mental fortitude and willpower to keep their sense of self go crazy and become evil. Riku is still very much powered by Darkness, and while he uses both Dark and Light, he uses a lot more Darkness. It also has no power over him.
Wonder if Demyx is gonna be number one. Josh loves him. Remember when he appeared in KH3. (Flashback to Josh furiously yelling "NO!") Good times.

Despite Marluxia’s title, Axel is actually the assassin of the Organization. Not only is that his role, the enemy type he controls are called Assassin

@@TheAzulmagia That's likely just the role Xemnas gave him. He complains about the icky jobs because deep down he doesn't want to kill people, but if he disobeys orders, the Organization will turn him into a mere Dusk.
i always considered axel less the assassin and more of "The Inquisitor" of organization XIII

Also, Xigbar is totally the Revolver Ocelot of the Kingdom Hearts series.

Gonna be honest, the 358/2 Days trio are literally the only characters in this series I actually care about. Roxas is basically the emotional heart of the entire story - or at least the closest this stupid, convoluted story has to one - Axel is just the best, and while she's not as important as the other two, I personally really like Xion. Yeah, she's angsty, but in a relatable way that makes sense given her situation, and her fate is arguably the most tragic of any character in a series full of tragic endings (before later games threw away all consequences), as conflicting pressures from all sides force her into making an impossible choice that ultimately ends with what amounts to death by her own hand. I literally watched through the entire mess of a story that was KH3 just to get some payoff for those three characters.
You might like the Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Retrospective from KingK. He reveals a theme the game presented from my understanding.

I hope you aren’t saying that the whole reveal by Xemnas in DDD and the recompletion thing was retcon, because that foreshadowed and build up a lot in the previous games, the WHOLE POINT of 358/2 Days was to show that the Nobodies DID HAVE HEARTS and I’m sick of people not getting that and accusing things of being “retconned” (that word has honestly lost all meaning nowadays) when it’s their own fault for not reading between the lines.
There's something about Demyx that really intrigues me. He claims to be a useless weakling, but he has some of the hardest fights in the series. He seems like a weak-hearted coward, but only strong-hearted people can even become Nobodies. I feel like he knows he is powerful, but for some reason really hates that he is. He really hates to fight, and I find that interesting and I want to know WHY he feels that way. Course, this is just my interpretation of him. I think Demyx deserves more credit than he gets.
Well you going to have to wait for Union's story to update.
There is so many ways you can go with just what has been shown so far with Lauriam, Elrena and Ventus (which honestly is not that much but then again in KH important characters can have less than an hour of screen time total so hey) that I doubt anything will be the actual way the story is going to go.
Update. It’s been 2 years, and Union Cross is ending. And we still don’t know where Demyx fits in.
I loved Luxords interactions in the Caribbean and port Royal. The way he bounces off Jack and acts like a pirate is entertaining

Okay but can I just say that Lea is definitely different than Axel. While Axel had a fake smile on a-lot of the time he'd also turn cold when he was angry or upset and lashed out. Lea is far more gentle, patient, and over all a huge dork. It's like no wonder he gets along with kids so well, he's still one at heart.
They are the exact same person, being a Nobody can just amplify your negative emotions a bit, also being upset was pretty understandable and sympathetic.

Actually..If we wanna get technical...Your complaints about Demyx's fight...kinda make him out to be fairly dangerous.
I mean, really? Punishes you for combos often? Overwhelming you with water forms and a limited amount of time to defeat them? Unpredictable patterns?
Maybe he's actually incredibly powerful....Makes you wonder how much of a threat he'd be if he actually put some effort into trying to take down Sora. Hrmmm.....
Upside: yes, while he's portrayed as a wimp, he's actually kinda dangerous if he puts real effort into it, and can think for himself.
Downside: the whole Timed Mode section of his fights plays off as a "distract them so you can get away" tactic, which is painfully annoying in a hack-and-slash styled game, especially when failure equals an instant game-over.
That is very true. Kinda seems a little eh that he's gonna turn and flee. But hey, he does seem to be the kinda guy who dislikes physical labor. Pretty sure he even says it a few times.
I wonder if this is what could be defined as how some media portrays Sloth. Very lazy, not wanting to do much, but very powerful when it comes down to it.

I always got the impression that Demyx was less 'a wimp' and more 'hideously lazy'. In 358/2 days, every mission he went on was with extreme reluctance, and a LOT of complaining - not because he was afraid, but just because he'd rather be at HQ just playing his sitar. So it is ENTIRELY possible he's extremely competent, and just feigns cowardice/incompetence to avoid having to do any real work.
Honestly, I thought he was lame in KH2, but 358/2 changed my opinion of him a lot - he genuinely struck me as the most ambivalent of Org XIII, and I found him interesting for that reason alone (that, and I'm ride or die status for my slacker brethren). Also, there's an interesting theory I read on reddit *(KH3/SLIGHT SERIES SPOILERS AHEAD)* that he's the Master of Masters pulling a Xigbar/Luxu - bit of a stretch, but in hindsight there ARE some similarities, personality-wise.
@@MrPossessed ..You know what? Putting their dialogue side-by-side..yeah. I can see that connection. The MoM speaks in a playfully whimsical manner, unlike most characters in the series..it's the sort of words you could ONLY really hear coming out of someone like Demyx's mouth. Don't really know if someone like him would have the kind foresight or patience to carry out a massive multiple year long plan that requires manipulating bunches of people to do it, but, hey, with time travel and replicas being things in this universe maybe he could've just gone back and forth constantly for all we know.

@@XynthoanXV2 For the NEW Organization XIII, yes. For the OLD one, they were main members. Titles, seats and everything. Xion had neither a title nor a seat. She was an unofficial member.
I swear quinton flynn is one of the greatest voice actors he is amazing at portraying emotions wheter it be axel or raiden and I'm freaking excited to get his autograph next weak and marluxia he's my second favorite of organization 13 i don't know what it is about famine looking male characters that use flowers that get me and i agree his voice could have been better maybe if they got david hayter to voice it would have fit more if you didn't know other than playing metal gear he voiced kurama in yu yu hakusho i fact that still surprises me

Ok, I agree that Demyx is the worst fight in the franchise or in any game ever, and dance water dance still brings back nightmares to the point I have a physical recoil to hearing it. But like, he's my favorite member after Axel. He may be a whiney and lazy little shit, but like the level of lazy that he achieves is frankly impressive. A big chunk of 358/2 is Demyx getting Roxas to do all his work for him in creative ways. It also leads to some amazing quotes that I just feel in my soul:
"Wait, training!? That sounds like work, which means sweating. Which is gross."
"Roger that. Remind me to underachieve twice as hard next time."
[Roxas: do you actually ever fight heartless?] "Nah, it's rare that I do anything that strenuous." [R: aren't you expected to?] Ha, they know better than that. They wanna keep the machine running, they pick the right tool for the job."
He's so aware that he's practically worthless and does approximately nothing, and revels in it. He's proud of it. He actively tries to be as worthless and do nothing, and as a fellow lazy ass I have to give him major props. The only one who does less at the organization is Xemnas (dude spends all his time sitting in his chair, soliloquy-ing at the moon/Kingdom Hearts, and being creepy in the basement. Like Saix is the one to assign missions even, Xemnas does nothing), and I'm pretty sure he's only still there to make Xemnas look better. He manages to be even better about all of it while being a sweet almost member of the sea salt trio in the manga, and just overall a gift.

He's also a beautiful disaster of a being and the fact that he survives as long as he does and hasn't just stupided himself off a cliff or had one of the other members yeet him off the top of castle oblivion is frankly a miracle and amazing to watch.
His fight really isn't bad at all really, his Data version kinda sucks but the the Story version ? No problem, I don't get what is the problem with the Clone move I've played this game since it realease, play the Final Mix version, play the HD version on Normal, on Critical, on Critical LV1 two time and in every single time I fight Demyx my way to beat his clone moves is.... mashing Triangle and X.... No joke mashing 2 Buttons that's what I'm doing since the game was first release and I absolutly never die to the clone move in any of my playthrough, so I really really don't understand at all how such an easy move to deal with get so much hate that's litterally the easiest part of his battle, in the main story at least cause I admit the Data version takes it to an all new level and actually makes it annoying. The rest of his story fight.... is just as decent Fiery Joker is really talking complete bullshit as far as I'm concern, he is consistant, has clear opening an all of his moves as a way around it, I really don't know what is Fiery Joker's obsession to want to make Demyx's battle looks like a trash and bullshit fight, it really isn't the story fight at least is completly fine in it's own right.

Can I just say, Xemnas’s speech near the end of 3 really got me good, like legit gave me chills.
I always remembered Luxord because I was like “WOAH HEY ITS EDGY MAGICIAN GORDON RAMSEY!”

What you seem to be missing about the icecream line, and why it really hit home with most fans, is that to Roxas, having icecream with someone is the equivalent of having the closest possible bond with them. He's only about year old, and he has come to associate the act of eating icecream with spending time with Axel and Xion, the two most important people in the world to him. Playing through 358/2 days, you struggle with the tedium of the missions, but as you do, you come to realize that after all that, you have your friends to make your day just a little better. It was meant to mimic our own lives: school life, and eventually work, is rough, but when you get back at the end of it, you can always lean on your own 'Axel' and 'Xion', unwind at your 'spot', and grab some icecream. So roughly, "Who else will I have icecream with" translates to "who will be there as my friend, my confidant, the person I can sit by and cast my worries away with." Axel and Xion were the Roxas's reason for living, and he lost a part of that reason when Xion faded away. This is the reason why most people think it's a silly line: they overlook the true meaning behind that message.

though I agree, is still a pretty bad line for the moment. If he had said it in the diary for day 358 it would've worked better
14. I honestly don't find Luxord very forgettable. Yeah the guy's pretty weak, but his weapon and fight is honestly pretty cool that I don't find him a waste of a member.
13. Never played a KH game to experience his boss fight, but eventually when I do I don't think I can find it in myself to actually hate Demyx.
12. Zexion's kinda the forgettable one for me. His powers are pretty cool though. And his bromance with Lexaeus was kinda cool (though I wish it was more explored).
11. Xion's a pretty tragic girl, that's all I have to say.
10. The Scythe wielding warrior with rose petals before Ruby Rose was a thing. And his design and motif were really cool.
09. Xaldin was a cool member. His weapons were unique and his wind powers matched that as well. Not to mention freaking *WIND DRAGONS.*
08. *THIS GUY* right here is unironically my favorite Organization member of the team. His warrior attitude stood out for me a lot and the guy takes my favorite element and freaking *rocks* it. His battles look amazing and his battle aura is looks and feels powerful and I love it. Again I wish Nomura fleshed out his bromance with Zexion. Heck I wish Nomura gave *him* more love.
07. Saix. Stoic member by day. Raging berserker by night. And he's voiced by the same guy that does Jade Curtiss.
06. Vexen was always that one member that was pretty animated. And honestly justified since he's a mad scientist. Also that call out to Woolie.
05. I don't blame anyone who despises Larxene in the slightest. NGL though out of all the girls in the KH franchise she's looking to be waifu for me. Yeah she's a b*tch. I kinda like her for that.
04. Xigbar was a really cool member of the organization. His gravity powers mixed with his nice sniper skills makes him a very formidable foe.
03. Roxas is the reason I keep asking myself why do people have a problem with the few hours of KH2?

Luxord is also actually got quite a personality. He's cordial, gentlemanly and enjoys a good game. MAkes him find Sora entertaining at the very least.

Good thing about Axel is, when he says "Got it memorized?", his logic is pretty heartfelt. He wants to be remembered, and therefore be immortal. Considering all the other people who've gone for immortality, and were pure evil, its interesting to see someone go a less violent path towards eternal life.

Zexion shares a Japanese voice actor with Kaworu Nagisa.
Marluxia shares a Japanese voice actor with Char Aznable.
Young Xehanort shares an English voice actor with Sig from the Puyo Puyo series.
But you know who don’t share a voice actor? Woody in Toy Story and Woody in KH3.
Oh and older xehnort was originally voiced by Leonard Nemoy in the first game

Of the original Organization, numbers I to VI were apprentices of Ansem the Wise, numbers VII & VIII joined after, and Roxas was number XIII, so how were numbers IX to XII chosen. They were participants of the first Keyblade War
Here’s the thing about the Xion friendship: I fully buy it because I played the game. It honestly works best if you personally lived through it. Granted, a lot of people didn’t like 358/2, and I’m not gonna fault anyone for that, but the movie version in the HD remakes doesn’t do Xion’s story justice.
It's the time off from work that lets the Days Trio pal around more and make a good impression.
If anything is solid in Days, then it's that aspect.
I was sad Roxas had to fight her in the end, but to see the final form of her battle it was incredible.

Ise no Kami I did play the game, and I still share Josh’s opinion on Xion. Hell I even read the manga

Marluxia and Zexion are my two favorites, they've both got really cool design and battles, and are really memorable imo
One thing Josh forgot to mention about Zexion's battle is once sealed in the book, your action commands are replaced with random words. You have flip through them like a book and find the one that matches. Like say you find the word Assault, that means attack.

Ah, Roxas. The reason I have absolutely no problem with the beginning hours of KH2. As much as I actually liked 358/2, I really wanted more KHII with Roxas. And if it turns out I can play as him in KHIII, that would be amazing.

Great start to the month. Definitely gonna be looking forward to seeing what else you have up your sleeve for the remaining lists.
My only complaint is that I feel that Xion should have been higher on the list (granted if it were me i would have jumbled almost all of them in a different order) since she actually serves the purpose of giving Roxas an actual reason to leave the Organization. After all Roxas as a character was all about following the rules that the organization gave him but when he formed a bond with Xion and Axel he suddenly found something he valued more than whatever the organization was telling him to value and since Axel is a valuable member of the Organization someone else had to be kicked around in order to make Roxas' loyalties waver until he realized that the organization didn't have his best interests after all.
Whats more Xion's existence reminds me a lot of Frankenstein's monster in a way. All Xion ever wanted was to spend time with her two best friends but (like the monster) the world just keeps punishing her 'existence' (for lack of a better word) even to the point where after she dies the only people that have any memory of her are her two best friends (and Sora) and even then its only a subconscious memory that compels them to do something. Even Axel who knows that Xion is just Vexen's little science experiment couldn't help but like her to the point where he fought her to exhaustion twice just so she would be safe in the organization just like how he tried to save Roxas in KH2. Plus in the KH manga (specifically the 358/2 Days manga) Xion actually had a lot of adorable moments that made me wish her terrible fate wasn't set in stone. Such as when she brings Pluto to the organization and asks Saix if she can keep him (by giving him puppy dog eyes no less) or when she tries cooking and fails horribly at it.
I was kinda expecting Roxas to take the number 1 spot because of how miserable his life became because of his boss and some co-workers. But now that you bring up Axel, it's definitely no surprise. And Luxord, though I do agree he should have been the villain for Re;Chain of Memories, I don't agree with him being the worst character, especially worse than Demyx. I never played Final Mix, so I never got to experience the pain of his data fight, or Demyx's data fight. I find Luxord to be one of the most respectful characters. He doesn't fight dirty, maybe except in data form, and he doesn't throw insults or threats or show disrespect toward the protagonists. I say that because (Spoiler Alert!), he showed some disrespect for Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts III. He does play fair overall and if he were the villain for Re;Chain of Memories (I only played the remake), it would be interesting to see how they handle a main villain who plays fair, no cheap tricks, no human shields, no leverage, just "Try to beat me. If you win, congrats. If not, oh well."

Major spoilers ahead:
DDD establishes that any nobody can grow a new heart given time, though only if they can form bonds with others and recognize their newfound feelings as real. Xemnas was aware of this and used this knowledge to keep the rest of the Org. sans Xigbar out of the loop in order to make them into viable vessels for Master Xehanort.
For many this revelation downplayed the existential angst and melancholy that was present in 2 and Days regarding nobodies and their unnatural existence, and turned Xemnas from an interesting, somewhat tragic villain to a basic evil mastermind who just did what he was subconsciously ordered to do.
Also, heart time-travel. As if the plot wasn't getting convoluted enough...

Not sure whether to be disappointed that Xion is so low or happy that best character made first. Pretty good video regardless.
Even before KH3, Xiggity Xiggy Xigbar was easily my favourite Org. XIII member, with Xemnas a close second. Lauriam and Elrena have taken up 3rd and 4th for me after the implications of KHUX added just a little extra to their characters, with Roxas sitting at 5th. He'd be higher, but I've gotten pretty invested in the KHUX stuff so he loses to pure intrigue.
To be honest, I understand the ice cream thing in the context that it is. When you play 365/2 days, there's a moment where Roxas sees Pence, Olette and Heyner (I'm still surprised I remember them) having fun, and Roxas asks Axel what friends are. Axel, being a nobody that knows nothing of the heart and emotions and all, he says that it's complicated and tries to explain it through the action they both do through the entire game, having ice cream. When he says who else will I have ice cream with, would actually mean, who else will be my friend (Actually, I was as surprised as everyone with that line, but after realizing that, it kinda made sense, even though it sounds weird if you don't remember that)
I just noticed that Saix was given his own rank in this Top 14.
3 months later and I just realized Marluxia reminds me so much of Yuyuko Saigyouji. Think about it:

Luxord is actually rather interesting imo. He's a game master, and sees all confrontations with Sora and co as a form of entertainment. He follows the rules he sets up, even if it means twisting it to his advantage or being vague enough that he can manipulate his enemy's win into his own. And he's also able to go for a person's weakness, such as when he tricked Jack Sparrow and later made his match against Sora into a big game.

Honestly I don't know why they didn't put Kefka nor Gilgamesh in KH. They are two characters that would fit seamlessly in a series like this.
Kefka bringing the insanity and reveling in destruction.
Gilgamesh to be a super boss that is looking for the strongest weapons in the KH universe but wielding 5-7 fake key blades but holding one true key blade that you can obtain when he is defeated.

I love Xion. She is the best to me. Helped via reading the manga(seriously she’s adorable in that) and that 358/2 was my first KH. Love it. Mainly the plot.

XII: Luxord(always stuck gambling with Jack Sparrow, I wish he woulda had more to talk about, but I like Robin Atkin Downes' performance as this guy)
XI: Larxene(she was a bitch to the very end)
X: Demyx(I rarely had any problems with this guy. BTW, I heard that Nomura intentionally left Demyx's whereabouts after KH3 a mystery for future DLC expansions. Also, he's voiced by young Kovu)
IX: Xaldin(again, I wish there would be more to talk about this guy, but I agree with how good job he does as a villain in Beast's Castle and his combat skills are impressive to say the least)

He is the member that has the most personality. What I mean is that he is laid back, a chicken wuss, would rather be anywhere else, and one of the most toughest fights of all time. He is actually the most relatable of the members. Oh sure, Axel, Roxas and Xion are the golden trio of the band of nonexistence, but when people talk about ANNOYING and hard bosses, who is the first to come to mind? DANCE WATER DANCE!!!
