I've been dealing with AS/RA since I was 13. I wasn't emotionally mature enough to explain these feelings back then, it made me feel so alone in the world. I wish I had this video when I was younger, not just for me but maybe so I could better explain to others what I was dealing with. Thank you for posting this.
you explained everything ive got going on and expressed it exactly how it is and how it affects me as i find it difficult to express the impact my condiction has on me every day is a struggle from sleep issues to well being THANK YOU DOC SNIPES
As someone who was diagnosed with SA and RA in 2023 but had been experiencing symptoms since 2020 (Covid made this diagnosis even more difficult as you can imagine), thank you for making this video.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I can only imagine how challenging it must have been to finally get a diagnosis, especially with the added complexity of navigating healthcare during the pandemic. Living with conditions like ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis can be incredibly tough, both physically and emotionally. Acknowledging the impact on mental health is such an important part of managing these conditions, and I’m glad this video resonated with you. If there are specific aspects of mental health or coping strategies you’d find helpful, please let me know. I’d love to create more content that supports you and others facing similar challenges. How have you been managing since your diagnosis?
Love your videos! Great description of fatigue. It’s always difficult to explain the difference between tired and fatigued. I’m glad you specified “when ready” that’s something most people do not get. That was my biggest suggestion after completing a chronic pain program. Originally they were trying to get me to go as a prerequisite to treatment. Fortunately I was able to start treatment first, because if I had been pushed into it any earlier, it would have broken my trust and relationships with the doctors there. Not because they said anything wrong. But because it would have come across as them saying “we give up, this is your problem, deal with it” and I wasn’t ready for acceptance.
I suffered a T7 FX in 2000, I have developed Spondylitis. Most days I'm pretty uncomfortable. I have a SCS that helps w/ the pain. Thank you for uploading this video. This answers a lot of questions.
There’s research coming out that depression has an inflammatory component. And of course, chronic pain can feed depression. It’s not like people can ‘run away from their bodies’, when they’re trapped in ‘pain jail’. There may be a two-way association in these conditions. It’s also worth googling about ‘the HPA axis’ which is a stress hormone communication system in the body/brain. This can become dysregulated with pain and stress.
what research? let's be serious and not be so naive and stupid until death, this would mean that half of the planet's population should be sick with spondylitis,
it's killing me, I lost my sight, my lungs with oxygen fibrosis, my kidneys destroyed, my ribs, or my sternum, swollen because I can't breathe now, my hips plus the deadly disease COPD, pulmonary emphysema

I’ve never had the fatigue and stiffness that these issues cause explained so poignantly. It’s difficult and sometimes defeating when trying to explain the constant fatigue from chronic pain.
I have been suffering with AS for over 20 years. Misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis for 10 years was extremely frustrating. The daily fatigue is exhausting (no pun intended). Enbrel almost eliminates the major flare ups but i still deal with daily pain and stiffness. I always wondered why antidepressants didn't help me....
This validates my story 😮💨. I’ve never felt so alive thanks to pain. Thank you so much for the thorough explanation. Every time I want to tell someone my diagnosis I’ll just send them here and save some of my precious energy. Day by day I just remember to breathe, get out of bed at least once, and stress less.❤️🩹
Thank you Doc Great video as are your others. I could write a book in this section. I have to run urgent errend but I will return. I already started crying thru this video. So that tells me you hit a cord. "Triggered" hope that word leaves society soon & "toxic" as well as the misuse of the word narcissistic. Thanks
Your darn tootin your family abandons you! I have a big family and the ones that are left are spread out, but every one of my family abandoned me, even my daughter! So I have had to learn that I don't need them! Not one of them will even call me and it's been so long that I don't have any of there numbers.
@@aspenenglish4976 Why did your extended family members do that. Assuming that is who you are describing? I never felt mine cared much. I guess they get involved in their own lives. I'm glad I'm not starting over. 😊 Enjoy your young children.

So can long periods of depression also trigger the RA? That seems to be the case with me at times.
