    If you're a Fold4 owner, whats your favourite and least favourite features?

    • @umeumeume
      @umeumeume ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Reverse power sharing, Bubble coloring, multi-use screen, the one hand function, the zoom, and so much more. The least favorite is the battery. It has not died on me, but with heavy use, I just don't like seeing it drop the way it does. It is doable, but I have to remind myself how hard I am pushing it.

    • @umeumeume
      @umeumeume ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I also noticed how you are complaining about the size of the keyboard font without showing how you can expand the keyboard size and position to suit different sizes of hands while the phone is folded. Which you can actually do in the settings.

      Fold 3 user here, my favorite is the phone itself my least favorite is the camera system, coming from an S21U, and the battery life but I believe both is much better with the fold 4. I don't use the stock keyborad, microsoft swiftkey is the best for me and I really has no issue with the crease. About the fingerprint sensor I really really don't understand why not every phone has it in the side button like the Folds have. Oh 1 last thing it started to do the usual "Samsung UI glitch" thing lately, namely to get a weird windows like delay in operation with a short temporary show of the empty background, like a reset, I may need to do a cashe partition reset... why it doesnt do it by itself after each update? Or does it?

      @@ewansmith4610 no I came from a 14 pro max and I adjusted fine. I first went to the store to get my hands on one and realized how typing on the front screen would be on the phone before making the switch. The front screen isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's smaller than the wide phones we've become accustomed currently but it's still wider than the original iPhone and we typed on that with no problem.

    I had every iPhone from the first to the 12 ProMax, I also have an iPad Pro 12.9, Mac Studio, MBA M2, AirPods Max. But the Fold 4 is the best phone I have ever used. I use Qfile to upload photos to my QNAP NAS, and then Hazel runs on my Mac Studio to watch a folder on the NAS and when a photo gets uploaded, it gets added to the Photos library.
    I was amazed how well the AirPods Max integrate with the Fold. The dual sims are excellent (I have to work overseas a lot so having my UK and a local sim in it with no issues. I no longer notice the crease, the cameras are excellent. I can even plug it into my Caldigit dock and its a computer. File management is better than my iPad Pro. The fingerprint sensor is brilliant. The reverse wireless charging comes in handy. OneNote handles my notes. Being able to multi-task makes the iPhone look dated, (even on the front screen I can have two apps open at once and drag and drop between them. The S-pen is a godsend, (I do wish it had a SIlo though). It just feels like a next generation device, battery life and fast charging are awesome (Literally 5% to 80% in what seems like 20 minutes), its survived the Saudi Desert, its survived drops from waist height, unmarked, it just gets thrown into my pocket with no special care, the way phone link works when I use my work PC is great too. The screens are beautiful (even the inner one), animated wallpaper on the Lock Screen still looks amazing, sitting on a plane or train and being able to work (I have one of those now impossible to find Microsoft folding keyboards and an MX anywhere mouse) is a real productivity boost. Sorry this has turned into a rambling review, but if you haven’t yet tried one, I would have to say you should, yes its expensive but its worth every penny

      Apple will never produce a foldable iPhone. It will only take sales away from the iPad. I always believe that Apple doesn't want people to think they've copied Samsung. I’ve been iPhone all the way until the Z Fold 4 came out, and very recently decided to ‘break’ away from the ridiculous Apple proprietary ecosystem, not completely, but in the most important way, via my phone.
    As an absolute novice to all things Android I shall reserve judgement on this totally alien operating system, for now but as regards the Z Fold 4…
    I think you hit the nail on the head in this review, the only thing that is going to put people off, is the price, at the time of writing, a £350 discount on this phone is available so price is becoming less an issue…
    A bit meh on the outside but when you flip it open and see how the phone, with its massive real estate size screen really pings with brightness and colour, it doesn’t take long to fall in love with it. The ‘crease’ or fold, mid screen, really isn’t noticeable at all when viewing Netflix or TH-cam, and again, on a mobile device, the size of the actual viewing area is brilliant & vibrant.
    A cover will be essential as even the most careful owner will get paw prints all over the 3 screens, very quickly and there are some interesting covers available, the best one that incorporates the S pen.
    The massive caveat that comes with this phone is the battery life… It’s not great, it’s a “less than a day” lasting phone.
    The iPhones are now consigned to history for me, as I’ve fully bought into this Z Fold 4.
    I love the ergonomics and how this newish phone really does open up a whole real new world to me.
    Goodbye Apple, hello Samsung Z Fold 4… (Still finding Android to be like learning an entirely new language though) 🙂

    I used to have an IPhone 11 Pro and an IPad Mini 6. It often was not practical to have the iPad mini with me so I ended up wanting to have the ipad when it wasn’t there. So I replaced them with the Z Fold 4 and I’m totally happy with it. It is - subjectively- just slightly heavier than the iPhone 11 Pro. The outer screen is a little narrow but i got used to it (mostly - typing could be annoying sometimes). I could easily recommend this device to everyone who wants to use a phone and a small tablet simultaneously. I’ve got it refurbished for about 990 Euro’s. That is a reasonable price, considering that it is replacing two devices.

      Please stop, what does it matter? Apple changed the whole phone industry and Samsung/Android piggybacked of them for a while. Then came IPad, Siri, AirPods, Apple Pay, and the M1 chip. Samsung had to come up with a new feature and design every just to compete and sometimes rushed things. Fanatics feel compelled to upgrade every for Fomo.
      Phone tech has pretty much plateaued and it all comes down to personal preference.
      Samsung and Apple need each others rivalry. It better for us, Samsung are innovators but don’t sleep on Apple.

    You complain about the keyboard on the cover but your thinking about the limited thumb tipping that iPhone people are used to. Swype had always been the best and fastest way to input text and it's better when the keyboard is actually smaller. Swyping on Gboard on floating versions of the keyboard and being able to resize it for faster swype control. (I use Swipe as the term because they were the first to create it like they created T9 typing on dumb phones). Basically, so typing on your phone like a tween-ager. Swype is so much faster and can be perfect for that front screen.

    I've been using an iPhone since roughly 2010... And I'm never going back to CrApple after using the Galaxy Fold4. As you have said, it's a fun device in general. With the vivid color tones, 120 FPS display, anything you do or watch or play is extremely satisfying.
    Bixby? I love Bixby. Siri never understood anything I said and (in my opinion) has a very annoying voice. You can activate both Bixby and Google Assistant on this phone seamlessly and they make up for each other's weak points. You can change the voice to make them both sound similar (Male Voice, I think the name is "Pink")
    Bixby is quick and has personality to almost everything he says, which is something I feel Siri and Google lack. You only need to say Bixby (no Hey, Okay, or Hi necessary) and only need to give a slight, almost-no-delay, pause before giving a command, and it has on-device functionality, adding to the quickness. Otherwise saying 'Hey' all the time gets really old.
    Bixby Modes & Routines is POWERFUL STUFF!! You could set this phone up so then you basically never need to pull it out of your pocket all day aside from any app (videos, social) that you would want a display for. Everything else can be automatic, built on simple 'if' and 'then' scripts.
    Once I am good and ready, I am deleting my iCloud. Bye bye CrApple 🍏

IF Apple did make a 'Flip' compact iPhone such as the newer and larger front cover screen of the soon to be released Samsung Flip 5 I would come back to an iPhone.

    Everything else, I can do on my Mac.

    I traded the 13 Pro Max for the Zfold4. Samsung's trade-ins are generous even with phone scratches. Both phones were too heavy and bulky for me. I wish I had tried them without the case and used insurance as needed. Now I have the 14 Pro which I like.

    I bought my Z Fold 4 in August of 2022, it was a great phone up until today, I woke up this morning and it wouldn't turn on. When I went and saw the technician at AT&T he told me its a fairly common problem with the Z Fold phones. It's been mailed out for either a repair or a replacement, but if it happens again I will definitely be trading it in for a different phone. If it turns out to be an isolated incident I'll keep it because I love the design of the phone.

      That is definitely At&T. Contact Samsung and have them challenge At&t on the diagnostic. Or have At&t challenge Samsung on your phone's condition, but don't just take one party's word without verifying the accuracy. At&t has done this before and was called out for it.

    Regarding the keyboard, the iPhone mini is also pushing it. I can type much more accurately on my iPhone 11 Pro than the mini. Obvious really. As for a foldable iPhone affecting sales of the iPad mini, a folding iPhone would likely cost nearly 4 times the price of the iPad. So I'm not so sure. I think a high-end iPhone buyer would most likely want a high end iPad.
    I may well replace my iPhone mini with a larger model when the new ones are released, but I wouldn't pay half as much again for one with a choice of a narrow keyboard and a crease down the screen.

    • @umeumeume
      @umeumeume ปีที่แล้ว

      I would encourage you to ask one of your z fold 4 friends or family to give you an up close demonstration of the fold 4. The crease is not noticeable unless you have light reflecting off of it, and even then, I strongly doubt you would care. Also, the keyboard on the front screen is not narrow unless you choose not to expand it or customize it to your liking. It should have been demonstrated in the review, but it wasn't.

They also overprice their Storage options and RAM by 4x the price compared to any other alternative on the market. Dead and Gone.

    I've had the fold 4 since March. Apart from the fold factor, i personally don't think it offers much. I think if your a heavy phone user it's better to get the s23 ultra. I find it uncomfortable to hold when it's folded, and it's a dust magnet. I always have to be careful not to drop it, or scratch it.
    Apart from that it's a beast of a tablet phone. Its very productive. Screen size is amazing and everytime someone sees it I get compliments.

      I have been using my 512 GB Samsung Z Fold 4 for 5 months now. Who are you, saying it's a dust magnet? How ridiculous. Any phone is a dust magnet if you're around dust! As far as your other negative comments, you're obviously working for the competition or being paid to write a review to TRY to knock down the champ of phones! There is nothing else like this in the industry! When the others finally come out with some sort of a competing model, just make sure you compare all the hardware specs, then the fact that Samsung has been making these for years, with all that experience, industry leading excellence. Then compare the functionality this phone has. No laptop does what this does!

    My take, don't buy this, it's horrendous. Some of the issues mentioned here are magnified 100x when it really is your daily phone. I bought the 1TB model on day 1, and I've been trying to trade it in every since.
    You tend to use the front screen more than the opened form, and it's far too narrow. The keyboard would be usable if the predictive corrections worked properly, but they just don't, which results in 80% of your typed words being absolute nonsense needing deleted and corrected. And you can't switch to the usual suspects of alternative keyboards because a lot of them just don't work with the Fold.
    When you do decide to open it up, things get worse. As a media consumption device, this is a lie. Watching any video content on it is sold to you like this massive immersive experience, when in reality the display is a 1:1 square box shape, and most videos are 16:9 or 9:16, so you get black bars and less media on display than you'd get on a S23U.
    Then there's trying to hold and use it whilst opened, it's BAD. In order to type, you've got to shuffle the entire opened phone down so your thumbs are near the bottom, which results in a weird weight distribution for holding, and the keyboard again is unusable. You find yourself tilting and shuffling the phone just to try and get your thumbs to reach the letters on the keyboard, which is all do-able, but it's intensely frustrating and within days you find yourself wondering why, why is this like this, I didn't pay 2k to have this uncomfortable awkward experience.
    So what happens is you just use the front screen 99% of the time, resulting in you having paid 2k to use a huge fat phone with a tiny narrow display. And that's not to mention the lack of support for most software features that some of use i.e. Nova launcher doesnt work on this, you can't create TH-cam Shorts on this, the cameras are terrible compared to the S23U.
    Just don't, the marketing makes you want it but the reality of owning it is very different.

    As an iPhone user. I'd would love apple to make a foldable.
    About the iPad mini I love this device but if they bring us a foldable iPhone they should just kill the mini.
    Apple killed the iPod in the past but because of the iPhone. I don't see why apple can't do the same here too.
    I think Apple easily could even make foldable iPad
